  1. But isn't this why we come here? Being new and not being banded yet, all these post about what to do/what works/what doesn't work is what is helping me to understand how things are going to be. I think most people mean these as suggestions, and are just saying what has worked for them. I don't think they are trying to say that that is what works for every one or in every situation, just what has worked for them. With out all those suggestions I think I would be lost.
  2. I have to agree, if you don't like something, just don't read it and move on. However I will say I am for XXX or something of that nature in the title of adult themed threads. But regardless these kinds of things pop up any way, were only human. It's sad though because even though I have only been coming here a few weeks it seems like some of the really important people are leaving. I've gotten nothing but help and support from people so i plan on sticking around.
  3. Hhehe I couldn't find a smily that was laughing loud enough or big enough to put here. I was laughing so hard at that in the office my employee came over from the counter to ask if something was wrong. And by the way, hubby and I call his tool Mr. Winky and he calls my bits Mrs.Kitty. We're freaks I know :nervous

    Port replaced. Is this normal??

Hey Michele, Sorry to hear about the loss of your baby. I haven't been banded yet and don't know much on the subject, but I just wanted to post so that you know there are people here to listen. From what I know every person is diffrent and even our bodies change with time and adjust to diffrent things. I'm sure loosing a baby and gaining weight etc. had big effects on your body itself, and not it's readjusting to the band again. Hang around though, its still early, I'm sure some of the vetrans can give you a better answer.

Two Dogs dumped at my house...

awwwww gawd, their soooooo cute!! We live in an apartment and have 2 cats, but I told hubby the next place we buy is gonna be a house with a fenced in yard so I can get a doggie! Here in Portugal there is not an oragnization like the Humane Society or any thing like that. They only have a pound of sorts and if they get an animal it stays 3 days and then they put it to sleep. I told my hubby if we ever win the lottery I'm buying a huge farm and starting my own Humane Society over here in Portugal. There was recently an abandoned husky here on our street. He was sooooo pretty and playful and sweet, but he wandered into the elementry school nearby and they called the pound, so I'm sure he's gone by now. It makes me sad what people do to their animals. We need more people like you Megan around here!
  6. hehe can't be me, I just got here! From what I have read its about some of the offensive (adult in nature) posts and stuff like that, I think. I mean that's what I have gathered so far. But I think it's kinda sad, every one has been so nice and helpful to me so far.

lawyers, money and my ex (3 kinds of evil)!

Hey Lou, Go with what your lawyer told you, and ur hubby can't just throw you out, tell your lawyer about that too and he can help you arrange something. When my mom divorced my father she took watever he gave her because she didn't want to make waves. Which was practicly nothing. Do you know what my father said about that? He said she was stupid. He wasn't grateful that she didnt take him for all he had, which she could have done, instead he said she was just stupid. I think that if your lawyer says you deserve more then you do. Your soon to be ex hubby will just have to get over it.
  8. Just thought I would ad my 2 cents as a newbie here on the forum with lots of forum experience. My husband is a moderator on about 6 diffrent computer related forums and I have been moderator on a few others. (computer as in software and hardware related topics) so here is what I think. 1. people always get off the topic of the forum, and thats when we get to truly learn about the other people, their thoughts, feelings, life style etc. I think it humanizes us all. 2. People always have diffrent opinions, ways of talking, ways of responding etc. and we dont see how what we say effects others or how others effect us. Thats the nature of an online forum, any where you go. So try to bear that in mind next time your outraged by some ones response. They may not mean it the way it sounds. 3. I do find that some of the threads here give way to much info, and no they aren't all clearly marked, just as an example the thread about things stuck in places, i didn't realize what it was until i read it, and after i read it i thought why did i need to know this. I think that a password locked adult thread would be a bit extreme, but I am all for marking adult realted threads with some sort of code, or even making a diffrent section on the forum for adult related content. It's not all that uncommon for lots of forums (even geek computer forums) to have an adult content section. (not locked or any thing, just clearly marked) I hear what you guys are saying about leaving if you don't want to read something, but when its not clearly marked and you read even just the first part, that's it, its stuck in your head, you already read it (like the one i read about things being stuck in places) I don't think this is about offending others or being offensive, but about being polite to others on the forum by letting them know in the subject that what their about to read may be offensive or adult related (or religious as the case my be) Thats what the subject is for right?
  9. I feel the same way, I'm new so I'm sure I missed everything, but I see that some long time members are leaving because of a "change in atmosphere" or something of that sort, can any one clue me into what's going on?

    Lap band and Xenical

I think your right about that, the amount of food we eat on the band (and if it's good banster food) doesn't contain enough fat to make taking the pills effective.
  11. Hey guys, I was just wondering what you all thought about a banded person taking Xenical as well.....
  12. K@t

This should make some feel special.

I'd like to comment on this but I guess I missed all the juicy stuff.... Any one want to point me to the threads where the jaded docs posted?

    Pen-pal anyone????

If some one gives me the Go Ahead, I'll make a list of every one that signed up and work out a system to match people up. I can: A:Make a summary list of every ones post and then you can pm me with who you would like to be matched up with and I'll set it up B:Make a list of names and just randomly draw from a hat to match people up. C:I can match up people who I think would be good penpals on my own. What do you guys thinK? Or should we wait for the person who started the thread to come back and set things up?

Not band related - looking for ppl in FL

I lived in tampa for a few years. I graduated from USF there. Traffice isn't that bad, there is a lot of things to do. I wouldn't go to Plant City or Lakeland, the drive is long and there are plenty of suburb areas in Tampa that are quiet and peacful, and if you want to go inland to avoid the hurricans forget it. My mom lives in Winter Haven (just next to Lakelans) and her house has just as much if not more damage then some other areas. There are some nice housing subdivisions past the University campus near the Hospital, when I moved three years ago that area was really developing. It doesn't feel like your living in a city at all. The Dale Mabery area is also nice. I would just call up a realestate agency there in Tampa and tell them what your looking for.

    Pen-pal anyone????

I love this penpal idea. However since I'm living in Portugal, some one from the UK would be ideal because of postage. (shipping to the US is WAY expensive and vice versa for some one shipping here.) I'm 25, married for 2 yeas to a wonderful hubby. I'm orginaly from Florida, I have a B.S. in business management, but I teach English here in Portugal. I like to play tennis, I also play the flute, and I like to do lots of crafts like needle point and crocheting(sp) I'm not banded yet, but I'm in the process (docs appts and all) I don't have any kids, but I have 2 cats, I love animals. Ok so should we find some one or is some one going to match us up with some one else?

    Lap band and Xenical

hehe, well it's kind of silly really. I have an entire box of Xenical here, but since I started the process for the band I stopped taking it. But it's not cheap stuff you know and I would hate to waste it. So I was just wondering if it would be going to far to keep taking it after I'm banded, or if it would have negative effects on the band.
  17. Hey guys, I have been around here for a week or so and every one seems so great. I have commented on a few threads and I think (hope :nervous ) I was well received. I guess now I just need a little one-on-one support. I feeling a bit nervous and anxious, and I was hoping some one would be my band buddy. I am going for my first appt. soon and I haven't told any one but my husband (who is a bit less then supportive) and I really just want some one to talk to about this. Feel free to e mail me or add me to ur messanger list so we can chat from time to time. I would appreciate it. Obrigada pela todas!

    Need some support

Hehehe.. I LOVE cats!! I have 2, a ginger cat named Mia, and we just got our second one a tiger kitty with a broken tail, we named her Annie. I love pretty much any thing cats. My hubby says our house is decorated in cats and candles! Yeah Portugal, I'm orginally from Florida, but my hubby is Portuguese so we moved here. I'm right there with you about who to tell. When ever I started a new diet and told any one then when they see me again its like, so how is the diet going blah blah etc. I honestly really don't want to tell any one, however my hubby's uncle is a doctor here with his own clinic and he may have some connections to help me get scheduled faster so I might end up having to tell any way if I want to get some inside help. (Portugal is really bad about red tape and it's ALWAYS about who you know) N e way, here is a link to my msn spaces. There are TONS of photos of me and my hubby and my kitties, and I sometimes post my random thoughts there as well. Take a look if you have time. http://spaces.msn.com/hpascoa/

    New and nervous

Hey Kim, I'm pre band too but I have been hanging out here in the forum for awhile. The more I hang around here the more I decide its a GREAT decision. I am like you around 250 and have been overweight my whole life. I know that if I added up all the money I have spent it would probably be the same amount as the band. Heck this year alone I spent around 200€ on a nutritionalist and 350€ on a gym membership that has yet to be used. It's expensive, but some people have gone to Mexico with good results, or over to Europe as well. There are some other options. Good luck with what ever you decide.

    Need some support

Yeah, I didn't want to tell any one except my husband, but he says we should tell my in-laws because he said they may be hurt if they find out i was having surgery and didn't tell them. He says they aren't that judgemental. Maybe they aren't to your face but who knows what their really thinking. Until I know more its going to be just between my hubby and all you guys in the forum. When a date is set for surgery then maybe we will tell his family, but my family isn't going to find out for sure until after I have lost some weight! Ohh, and btw, i found a guy here in Portugal that had it done. He has lost 48lbs since his surgery on Nov.29 05. He started at 350lbs so thats pretty good results I think. However he said they had him on a liquid diet for a month! Only Soups, orange juice and yougerts. He also said that our state insurance (the one the govt. gives us for free, every one who is employeed in Portugal is covered) paid for it. It was absolutly free! Problem with that is, if you go the state route, they choose the doctor and facility for you and they schedual it for when ever they want, which means you may have to wait months, even years. If you go private you can pick your doctor and facility and of course the date you want it done. I will know more next Friday after my appt. I'll keep you all updated.

    I Love The Band!

Congrats! It sounds like your very happy with your decision. However I think 800 is a little on the low side. I think most people eat around 1200. Good luck in your progress!

    Working with the band ...

I made a response to this thread yesterday and then deleted it. I guess I wasn't seeing the whole picture. I was angry when I first read it, but now I'm just sad. It made me sad that lou was so sad and angry with herself and her band. And it made me sad that so many people thought the same way about their bands, and about the types of posts they see on this forum. I would just like to say, being a newbie here, that I have found nothing but love, support, and helpful information here. And I only hope for the best when I get banded. I know it won't be easy and I'll have to work, but I didn't need a doctor to tell me that. Everything in life takes work and dedication, from kids, to work, to weight loss in any form. I hope the rest of you guys can find the help your looking for. :cry
