Good luck! We will be waiting to hear from you when you get back.

hehe, I know, I'm just trying to make myself get use to the idea that I have to stop with this stuff. If I tell myself, its ok to have a little, I'll have a little here, and a little there, and before I know it I've had A LOT! So it's easier for me to say, you can't have any right now, and then when I have made some progress I will tell myself, your doing good, have a little treat....and then go back to you can't have it any more. I know it sounds silly but it's the best I can do to make myself stop eating things I know I shouldn't.

Hi heresdeb, I'm 240 and am also wondering the same thing. I'm being banded soon and I'm not sure what to expect, but I think that for every one getting under 200 is the hardest so we may just have that part to look forward to sooner then the rest. But I have seen others around the 220-250 mark who have gotten down to 150 or less. It's possible and I think that every person is different, so we are just going to have to wait and find out on our own. :guess

Well, your surgery date isnt to far off now though. You will be there in not time! About the same time as me. I can't wait to get it all over with though no more waiting and wondering. Thanks for the compliment, I haven't updated it in awhile, I need to make a few more posts when I have time.

Thats very good advice. I'm eating my last bowl of icecream today because tomorrow I start the pre-op diet, and I'm being banded on the 26th. And like you I don't like fish...at all.... even though I know it would be very healthy and easy to eat. I would be VERY happy to lose 75lbs in a year.

Wow, what an ordeal for you, its nice that the doctors office understood the problem and $100 fee from the airline isn't to bad, i have paid more for changes (around $300 I think) Your a very sweet daughter, I'm not sure I would have canceled!

Well, I had the endoscopy today and it was worse then I thought it was. They didn't put me to sleep, they just sprayed some crap in my thoat, and my nose was plugged up, so I could hardly breath, I kept trying to throw the tube up, my nose was burning and my stomach was burning. It was really BAD. Worse then I had imagined. The doctor tried being kind by saying it was ok, but then after a few min he just yelled at me to stay still, I was crying and trying to tell them to take it out. Now, I am completly upset, if I can't even handle this, how am I going to handle the surgery. I don't even know any more, I'm scared. The doctor told me to go eat afterwards, but my throat burned so much I could hardly swallow some juice. And to make matters worse, they used the BABY tube on me, thats right the smallest one they had! :think And to top all that off, the doc said I have what looks like a bacterial infection in my tummy and he sent a sample to the lap. He said if it's a small infection then I can take some antibiotics and go ahead with the surgery, if its a big infection then I will have to go through some kind of treatment and he won't recommend me for the band until the treatment is over with. I'm suppose to go back in an hour to find out. Keep you fingers crossed for me. :cry

yep, 2 tiny sprays that went mostly in my mouth not even on my throat, and then stuck it down, i immediately tried to throw it up and i started crying and my nose got all stopped up, the nurse was holding my head down and i was banging the wall behind me with my hand trying to tell them to take it out. They had me lay on my side on a bed and turn my head inward to open my throat up more. Then they stuck a white mouth piece in my mouth and down went the tube. The doctor acted like I was being a big baby, but it was horrible. I had asked if my husband could come in with me but they wouldn't let him. Now I know why, if he had seen that he probably would have panicked as well. He told me he was hearing me making noises out in the waiting room but the nurse at the desk just told him it was normal, and when he came in the room he saw me with my face all red and my eyes and nose swollen from the crying and gagging and he was asking what in the hell did they do to me. But I don't get it because other people told me they did it with no problems. When I told my mother in law how horrible it was she just said she didn't get it because shes had it done twice and said it didn't bother her, and Hugo's grandfather said hes had it done 4 times. I couldn't ever do that again though, just thinking about it makes me sick....:sick

You are looking great! Congrats to all your success and thanks for the egg drop soup recipe.... :biggrin1: I plan on using it when I get banded this month!
-
Thanks for reporting back, it makes me feel a bit better when i hear another good story about how well things went.
-
I'd go for any color, but I really like purple. Also I like the banded and beautiful saying. I would buy one.

That is sooooooooooo what I ment...some high power lawyer or scientist that worked in the city and was only out for herself. And like you, I'm the total opposite, married, settled, and a teacher (for the moment any way, I am going for senior teacher!)

fiveholts714: I think its common practice in Europe not to sedate people for that procedure because its so quick. My mother in law and father in law both did it and didn't have any kind of experience like I had. Another girl here on the forum from the Ceck Republic also said they didn't sedate her either. You would think at a minimum they could give me some happy gas! There were 2 things working against me I think. My nosed was plugged up from allergies, and since I was having a hard time breathing I was panicking and then it made it worse, and then also, I have a short neck, so it doesn't leave much wiggle room for the tube. Regardless, I know that I can't tolerate that procedure like that any way, if I ever need it again I will request to be sedated or they just won't do it. CLOE: It's to make sure that your stomach and esophagus and lower stomach is all healthy so that there wont be any surprises come surgery day. Every one else: Thanks so much for your support I felt a lot better after reading the posts. The surgery should go a lot smoother. I will know more on the 12th when I have me preop. I'm still having a bit of trouble with my throat today ,but than goodness only half my kids showed up today so I had them coloring and making easter cards. I didn't have to do to much talking. :nervous
-
ok sorry, but that looked kinda scarey.....the needle was HUGE and he kept it in for quiet awhile (it seemed to me) I hope it's like you say...it doesn't hurt...that or I hope i never need a fill!
-
Here's to hoping.... my throat is still really sore and swollen, I managed some mashed (whipped actually) potatoes and blended strawberries. I have to teach tomorrow so I hope I don't have to talk to long. Hopefully most of the kids won't show up since it's so close to Easter. I still have this weird pain in my chest area as well, and to make matters worse my period started today as well......*sigh* next week will be better...I just know it!
-
I wanted to be some one prestigious and famous like a great scientist or lawyer. Unfortunately I'm neither, but I'm still young so there is hope!
-
cokes are really hard to give up, i managed to switch from regular to diet, but I know I'm going to have to give that up soon too. I think we just crave the carbonation. I'm trying to drink more regular water and when I crave a coke I drink crystal light or flavored water or tea instead.

Thanks guys, My throat is all red and inflamed now, but I guess its normal here not to put people to sleep for that. I will NOT do that again though. If they tell me I have to do another one I will refuse unless they put me to sleep, because I don't think I could handle that again.. I was literally hitting the wall behind me because I wanted the thing out. My tummy is still feeling all funny and I have this weird pain in my chest. I guess I'm just a big baby. Good new is that there is no infection, I guess because I have been coughing a lot lately due to allergies, my tummy was a little inflamed, but the doc said nothing to worry about and he said that by surgery date it should be fine. Whew! :clap2:

I was just wondering what any of this has to do with lap band, or weight problems or any thing at all.
-
It looks like their working on quiet a few new features. LBT is really growing and it looks great!
-
He didn't ask for any tests? Any kind at all? I'm in Portugal and the doc here asked for blood test, liver sonogram, Xray of my thorax and an endoscopy. I just did the endoscopy and it looks like I may have an infection! If the doc didn't order those tests and he did the surgery there might have been some problems. I would make another appt with ur surgeon and ask him to send you for some of these tests.
-
Congratulations on all your past and future success. I'm glad that people like you stick around here even after loosing your band. We need all the help we can get!

Hey Melissa, I'm always sick to and my doctor says its allergies. He put me on some allergy meds and a nose spray. I always just thought I was getting a cold, sore throat, coughing, and stuffy nose. Also I don't eat enough of the proper nutrients either, i need to eat more veggies and take Vitamins as well.

The smallest size I ever remember being in was a 14/16 in 5th grade. I am currently a 22/24 (this is the most I have ever weighed) So honestly I have no idea what I will look like in any thing under a 14th. I'll be happy just to wear regular sizes in regular stores. If I had to say, I would love to be a perfect size 6, but I know that's not realistic, so I'll say a 10/12.

ohh...i think that is a neat idea. a clothes exchange would be nice, I have a lot of almost new stuff that I never wore because my weight fluctuates so much.
