okay i bought: PROMIX Vegan Protein Powder | Dairy Free, Non GMO, Gluten Free, Organic (1 Pound, Vegan + B12) mixes well and is very filling. i mix it in 16 oz of vegetable stock, with dash of cayenne pepper. each serving (2 scoops) is 25gm of protein. very easy on tummy. no taste BUT strong green pea smell. it doesn’t bother me but if smell of peas puts you off it might not work for you.

Starting WLS journey as a vegan

what did everyone use for their clear liquid protein source? i’m trying out a rice / pea protein powder that tastes good but smells strongly of peas. it’s 25gm protein in 2 scoops. i found some water that wasn’t whey and will buy that as well. i think i can get to 60 gmprotein with water and broth but that will be my diet for 1 week pre and 2 post (at least i think so). once i am able to have full liquids i’ll be golden as i drink protein nut milk and use protein powder for 40gm / serving. all this whey isolate in protein water is making me crazy! talk about marketing opportunities for vegans. -

i’ve been watching a LOT of vlogs and have seen several that weight comes back because of inability to overcome excess / poor diet. so, i decided to try a 11 day liquid diet. if i don’t have discipline now then i am unsure i’ll have discipline post surgery. I am day 3 and yikes this is hard. i’m also a vegan and looking for hot / warm vegan liquids to eat. i’ve got shakes covered but i am wanting warm foods. i had some vegan vegetable broth but it’s 5kcal / cup and 0 protein. i am dreading a cold shake. anyone else do a mental prep like this? lord if i can’t make it i just worry i will blow it post vsg and have had irreversible surgery and spent 5k. tia for any replies / advice!

read this study on bariatric surgery performed on lower BMI patients. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5803286/ opinions and anecdotes are good to form a support system but look to research to be fully informed re: low bmi barbaric surgery. -

Can you clarify why this person stayed 3 nights 1/16 through 1/18? I have emailed you with specific questions using email provided in another post. thank you! -

Thanks for the info Bill. I did do further research on Dr. Illan and was his accreditations and memberships. I don’t see VSG listed as subspecialty or clinical area of practice on the FACS.org website: Subspecialties and Areas of Clinical Concentration Bariatric (Severe Obesity) Procedures Bariatric (Severe Obesity) Procedures biliopancreatic diversion gastric banding jejunoilial bypass laparoscopic gastric banding laparoscopic gastric bypass roux-en-Y gastric bypass Is this procedure one that he performs often and just isn’t listed? I also saw Oasis Hospital Tijuana, BCN Active 08/2016—Present Hospital Regional No.1 IMSS Tijuana, BCN Active 01/2011—Present listed as affiliated hospitals. Can you clarify where his surgeries are performed? I appreciate your prompt responses! -

so you stayed 3 nights in the hospital? 1/16, 1/17 and 1/18? is this still the norm as the website reads 2 nights in hospital and 1 night in hotel. was your husband allowed to stay with you entire time during hospital stay? another question: do you have to stay at real inn hotel? are patients allowed to pick another hotel to stay in? -

I’m a RN as well and visitation hours are a thing of the past. It’s outdated and just raises red flag that support person isn’t allowed. I was also informed that some patient rooms are semi-private. This is a red flag to me. I asked what the RN to patient ratio was and I did not get an answer. Do you know from your experience? Are there doctors in clinic at night? Should a patient code what is the response team composed of? If patient needs ICU care is that care provided in facility or is patient transferred? If transferred to what hospital? 0700 discharge day 1 post-op; did physician round and do head to toe exam? Do you mind sharing info? Thank you!! -
looking at OCC for VSG. my red flag is visiting hours ending at 4pm and no family allowed to stay overnight with you in hospital / clinic. it’s odd. anyone who had surgery at OCC have issue with this? i also read some people state that the payment was sketchy in that credit cards aren’t taken and wanting cashier checks? is this the case? ortiz is board certified and clinic is joint commission compliant. strict visiting hours are odd though. lots of + reviews for dr. illan... i can find info on the facility and it doesn’t seem he’s board certified bariatric surgeon. thanks in advance for any info-
