I’m a single 39 y.o. mom, hard working professional, and new to San Diego. I am not really sure how to get out there to even just meet friends since I moved and then a pandemic started. My body has gone through a lot of changes and in the years to come I anticipate more. Looking for like minded people going through this similar journey to talk to, follow on here, and see what in the area you do for support and exercise. Or just be support for each other no matter where you are at on your journey.

Possible pregnancy after VSG surgery
ccs124 replied to Jessicayvette's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I got pregnant from a failed IUD 6 months after I was sleeved. Just delivered and only gained 10 pounds during pregnancy. Breastfeeding and trying to find the right nutrition plan to lose weight, but get enough nutrition/calories to support breastfeeding. -
Well after 9 months of weight loss and down 60lbs I was really struggling to lose more weight. I changed exercising routine using Orangetheory 2-3x a week to increase intensity. After seeing my physician at 11 months out I was about to start Trulicity to hopefully jumpstart my weight loss since exercise was not working. This all came to a halt when I thought well I have not had my menstrual cycle in months. Let’s just be sure and since I had a an extra pregnancy test in cabinet I took it. Let me say my cycle has always been irregular and I’ve had an IUD in place the last 2 years. So really thought I was humoring myself my taking the test. I am 38 and had no plans to add to my already family of 5. Well test was positive and turns out I’m almost 5 months pregnant. Not sure if it’s just that I’m the 1% that IUD failed or that weight loss some how contributed to my IUD misplacement.

Down 25 lbs and just exhausted. It’s week 8 and I had no energy to exercise this week, I had been doing great with 45 minutes 3x a week with 20 minutes of cardio on elliptical. Eating a no/low carb diet with high protein. No nausea. Fluids are a struggle but min 48 oz going in. I am terrible at taking my vitamins and know this is probably the issue but they are gross. Even after switching brands not better. Need a little motivation and encouragement.

July 2019 Surgery Siblings Post-Op
ccs124 replied to Mom_of_Chaos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tomorrow will be 8 weeks since surgery and I have lost 23lbs. This is the lowest I have weighed in 3 years. Weight loss has now slowed significantly to 1-2 lbs a week. Averaging 900 calories a day and my doctor recommends no carbs for 6 months. I can eat anything on Keto diet and have been enjoying some recipes I got off Pinterest. Exercising 3 days a week for 45 minutes each with 20 minutes dedicated to elliptical for cardio . It is hard not to get discouraged but I have focus on goal to get to December where I can introduce healthy carbs and if I can just do 5-8 lbs a month that is another 20 lbs. PreOp 209 Surgery 205lbs Now 182 Sample Day Breakfast Triple Zero Greek Yogurt or hard boiled egg Lunch 1/3 cup of shrimp with cucumber salad Dinner Shredded chicken with refried beans with salsa Snack Hummus with veggies Mangos sliced Water 48-60 oz(this is a struggle) -
I’m about to start week 6. I’ve lost 20 lbs. It is hard not to be discouraged. Some of the same feelings I had before surgery are coming back. Wanting to eat for comfort and the craving of the carbs is getting worse. Trying not to giving in, but did eat some chocolate ice cream. This was not a good idea now I just want more. Getting in 48oz of fluids is something I work at daily. Otherwise I feel good exercising 3 times a week for an hour.

Yes you start clear liquids in hospital. You can not leave until you can hold down. My hospital stay was 1 night. It is painful but it is mostly gas. You must get up and walk. It will help with the gas pain. I only needed a couple days of pain meds and then I was fine using Tylenol for 2 weeks.

My the dietitian told me no more “snacks” between meals. It was usually hummus or cottage cheese. She said to stick to 3 meals. Not sure how that is enough to satisfy me.
-
My dietitian said they just put moist chicken and canned tuna to week 4. I figured chicken salad sounds very tasty. Scrambled eggs I have not had a problem with and I refried beans, lentil soup, cottage cheese, hummus, and soups are my usual. Looking forward to adding some items.

Had mine July 3. Just got clearance to start exercise besides walking. Just a little sore when moving in certain positions. Only real problem I had was 1st week I had a terrible headache but I adjusted. Clear liquid was fine but I can live without jello now. Excited to start 4th week foods. Lost 19 lbs but I expect it to slow down now that I get to eat some chicken and tuna. I can’t wait to see results in 6 months.

5 days post op and it is a chore. I do not not like plain water. I use lots of Half Gatorade/apple juice/grape juice half water in my 24 oz bottle. This way I drink from water bottle 48 oz. Then every 3-4 hours I do a cup of broth/jello or popsicle. This is how I get my 64oz in.

Day 2 post op. Pushing fluids which is a chore. Mixing half cranberry juice/water, Apple juice/water, eating sf popsicles, and sf jello. Broth has not been so great maybe a couple sips but I can’t get myself to take it. Any tips on what to make while on clears? I have one week of clears then I move to full liquids. I am trying to manage my pain with Tylenol. Best way to describe it is I’m just uncomfortable. Right side of abdomen is sore. No position is great and walking does help get some gas out, but I pretty much have to force myself. Sleep is not easy. Maybe an hour then I am back to being uncomfortable. Just looking for some encouragement in my early post op or tips on clears to drink or how to manage pain. Thank you.

Thank you. I am feeling better today today. I slept a bit last night and pain controlled. How much walking do you do? Day 4 post op

I am glad I saw this. I am day 2 post op and pretty miserable. Upper abdominal pressure and just soreness with movement. Walking and taking Tylenol every 6 hours got pain.
