    how long for BCBS approval?

I have Anthem PPO California also. I have to go in for an upper endoscopy on the 8th then my surgeon will submit to my insurance for approval.
  2. Don't worry so much......just about everyone cheats whether they want to admit it or not. Some people do not have to be on a 14 day liquid diet, some are only the night before, so don't worry as long as you are aware that you did it and are trying not to do it again. Find someone you can call when you get the urge to help talk you out of it and into eating or drinking something healthier. I know.....easier said that done. But don't be so hard on yourself,.......after all that is why we are all here. Hang in there. Vickie

    Will I get weighed again?

Thanks for asking that question.....I was getting ready to ask the same question because I am just above 35 BMI and know I will lose weight during the pre-op stage. I just want to hurry and get started on this weightloss journey and to better health. Good luck! Keep us posted.
  4. I got my Magic Bullet at Costco for $49.99. Target also has them for a similar cost. Kohl's online is 69.99. A friend of mine got hers on ebay.

Hoping to be an August Bandster

When he asked me to count backwards by 7's I laughed and said you have to be kidding........but I did it. It really wasn't a difficult evaluation.......the nervousness was the worst part. They just want to make sure we are stable enough to follow through with diet once we have the surgery..........

Hoping to be an August Bandster

My psych eval was pretty easy (at least for me). It was done in 2 separate appointments of 50 minutes each. The first session he asked questions about my past dieting, eating habits, family growing up, etc. He asked a few questions that check your thinking such as counting backwards from 100 by 7's, repeating words and phrases, then asking me a phrase we talked about later in the session (to see if I could recall it). He also asked questions about other family members beig overweight and when I first noticed I was overweight. He also asked about drug and alcohol use and history. The 2nd session he mainly clarified some of my answers and finished writing the letter to be given to my doctor stating I am a good candidate for the weight loss surgery. Don't get me wrong.....I was nervous. Each psychologist is different so the questions could be a little or a lot different.

Thanks for the reply. You would think the insurance companies would make exceptions for a few pounds. I don't know about you but it is discouraging being told I have to gain in order to lose.

Hoping to be an August Bandster

I have done all the pre-op stuff (nutrition eval, psych eval, EKG, blood work and Chest x-ray) only to be told that I need to gain 8-10 lbs for insurance to cover the lap-band surgery. Has anyone else had to go through this??:confused2:
