    Vitamin supplements...

I take the Centrum Adult chewable vitamin-orange flavor. They are not too bad and can be bought anywhere from Walgreens or Walmart. They are not too expensive and sometimes you can find coupons for $1.00 off. The price is no more than $9. Goodluck!

    Does anyone notice this?

Hey Jazie, don't worry, I think it will go away. I had my surgery the same day you did and have lost 49lbs and wonder about my stomach too! I know its hard not to wonder. I guessing patience is key. Congrats on your success!

    Mushies

So far during the mushy stage I have had everything you listed lalaredd, and blenderized chilli. As per my dietitians list she has... turkey, chicken, fish-blenderized FF Refried beans-sour cream- FF cheese-----yummy tastes like taco bell! Tofu Hummus Vegetables----all blenderized green beans, carrots, beets, yams, squash, zucchini Fruits---blenderized Ripe mashed banana, unsweetened applesauce, canned peaches or pears packed in water---blenderized Also, include what you were allowed on full liquids---yogurt, cottage cheese, pudding, jello, etc. Hope this helps!

    Swallowing Calcium

I was told by my dietitian to dissolve the 2 pills in a very small amount of water or crystal light and drink the liquid. You do not have to consume the sediment. This is just a suggestion.....

    Headaches and Hungry

Hey Lalaredd, I am 15 days post op and had similar issues. I am no doctor, but at my two week follow up appt. the bariatric nurse said dehydration is a common/serious problem. You MUST drink your 8 cups of water. Soon as I went home I got in the 8 glasses, and haven't had a headache in 2 days. As far as the hunger, guuurl, that is a mess. I hated it, but when you get to eat mushy food you will feel so much better and fuller. To combat that hunger during the liquid phase I had soupy oatmeal and farina, as well as tomato soup and mashed cottage cheese. Hope that helps and you feel better.

    Nausea and lightheadedness

Hey Avon! I am not a doctor, but I am 2 weeks post-op and have had the lightheadedness you spoke of. I went today for my 2 week follow up and mentioned my headaches and weakness and was told I was dehydrated. So, if you can sip, sip, and sip more plain water I know I am. Also, I was told there is no limit with plain water get 48-64oz or more if you can. Hope you feel better!

    Shhh...Keep it in the Closet!?

I agree with msnika. You have to feel people out before sharing information. My choice was to bring up the idea and see what was said, then share if they were supportive. If they were not, I didn't say anything. They can just watch as the weight comes off and wonder. I did tell my mom and she wants it done! One thing I couldn't stand was when you would try do a 'what if' I had that done situation, and folks would say you don't need that, I am against any surgery, or I heard bad things about it. I would just say ok, and if they were obese I would think to myself looks like you should join me because whatever you are doing ain't workin!

Women of Color and WLS-New Social Group

This sounds very interesting! Where will this group be located on this website? I like where this is going.
  12. Congrats to U! I will be banded tomorrow also! The liquid diet does get easier and the hunger went away towards the last 4 days, I didn't understand why though. Lots of mixed feelings going on right now. Best of luck to U.

    GI Test

My upper GI wasn't that bad. Just took the numbing spray in throat and they did what was necessary. I know everyone is different, but wow I feel bad for you.

    Bowel Prep??????????

I must do a bowel prep before surgery which is July 1st. I asked about that and they said they wanted everything out of my system. However, from reading the number of responses w/o bowel prep, I wonder if that is just the surgeon's preference. I am scared because I have to drink magnesium citrate, take dulcolax, and one enema the day before and one the day of surgery! I'm not scared of the meds but feeling weak, and it seems like that much can dehydrate you.:crying:

    1st Day of Pre-Op Diet

Ok, so I see that I am not the only one that is having a hard time with the pre-op diet. I need to maintain my weight after losing 15lbs. by myself.(exercising 4xs per week and 2 protein w/ carnation shakes per day) This is my 2nd day on the pre-op and I had more carbs than I need(candy pieces, 1c. popcorn, and 2 small slices of pizza!) I know its bad, but when they say its hard psychologically, that ish is no joke. I did better when I had more time, now the date is getting closer I feel like I need to eat while I can...I don't know what to do. Surgery day is July 1st and pre-admission testing is June 25th! I am just going to have to hit it hard tomorrow until D-day or go home!
