Take your time recovering—it’s major surgery. Do NOT feel guilty for resting when you need it. Follow your team’s plan for you. You’re going to do great!
  3. I had a sleeve 2 weeks ago and felt the same. Take tour time recovering—you just had major surgery. By day 5 I felt like a “normal person” again. bow that I’m 2 weeks post-op I can tell that my stamina and endurance aren’t where they were. I get tired easily—going grocery shopping and carrying in the bags will leave me tired for a bit. Im usually a person that can’t sit still long and this bothers me—but I have to keep in mind I just had major surgery and will need to take it easy for a bit. Rest up! Your body needs it.

my trainer left me. i am devastatedddd.

I’ve found they are like good hair stylists—you find one you love and when they move on it’s like the worst breakup ever! I’ve been through this a few times🙁. I asked mine for a workout plan that I can stick to (I know it’s not the same) and do it. He/she will be so proud of your successes. Ask for their email to keep in touch and send progress emails/photos. You CAN survive on your own (it’s just not as fun). Don’t let this derail you or your progress.
  5. Yay!!! Praying for a safe surgery and a speedy recovery. Good for you taking this step to a healthier life! You got this!

    Post-Op Depression

Is it a general feeling of depression or something specific? Example: are you missing specific foods, are you having regrets about having surgery—why?, etc. im asking because I’ve dealt with depression before in my life and can pinpoint the why for me—once I sought help with a therapist. Maybe some reflection can help you talk with your therapist more openly. Trust me when I tell you it took a bit before I could do that myself. Be honest, be open and do what is best for you. Remember, you chose surgery for specific reasons too. Your health is important.
  7. I’m 10 days out from my surgery. And I felt like absolute hell for the first 5 days. I didn’t do much but take my meds, sleep and I’m between sleeping walked a bit and sipped my liquids. I was amazed that day 6 I woke up feeling like a normal person..lol. You didn’t make a mistake..focus on what you are able to do and REST. Your body needs it for recovery. Take your meds and by all means call your team if you think something is not right. You got this!! Hang in there. What a difference a few days will make .

T Minus 2 Days Until Surgery!

I’m excited for you too. Remember, it’s okay to be nervous (even if it’s at the last minute). Prayers for your speedy recovery.
  9. Thank You! I’m just starting full liquids this week and have been scared of the next step. This gives me hope.

    Your forbidden food

I’m jealous of your ramen noodles..I love them. I’m just moving off of clear liquids and dream about ramen as I’m sadly sipping on my broth. 😢

    5 days post op!

I left the hospital heavier than I went in too. I was so discouraged the first few days at home—wanting to see the instant effects on the scale..especially since I was feeling so crummy. I’m 8 days post-op and the scale is moving in the right direction and those pesky pounds from the hospital are almost gone.
  12. One week post-op today and visited with My doctor. I’ve graduated to full liquids! Yay me! I’ve never been so excited to see tomato soup in my life 😉. What I’ve learned this week: by day 5 I felt like a normal person again, I should not compare my journey to others, and stick to the plan—it will get me where I need to be. Thanks to all that have been friendly and welcoming. Having support is priceless.

    Food commercials—rant

I never thought of how many food commercials are on tv in a given day until I had surgery. I’m one week post op from the sleeve and find myself changing channels to quit being bombarded by delicious looking morsels I cannot eat. 😢 I keep repeating the mantra in my head: those foods are how you became overweight, you do not need them, they are not good for the new you! sometimes it helps..but man, it does look good.
  14. I’m 5 days out from a sleeve and left the hospital with a nausea med that dissolved under my tongue and liquid codine. Both to be taken as needed for pain or nausea. Is there a middle ground? Codine makes me sleepy and I’m out for hours. Is there anything I can take to take the edge off the pain but not put me into a stupor?

    Embarrassing question

Ok Ladies..my surgery is 7/9. I’ve been on my pre-op diet (800-1000 calories, high protein, low carb, even lower fat) and have noticed how infrequent BM are. I’m sure it’s due to the huge uptick in the amount of protein I’m eating. I don’t feel bloated but am concerned about going into surgery with out having had a BM in 3 days. Can I take something for this? Should I take something for this? I have been drinking 64 ozs of liquids too. Many advice would be appreciated?

    Anxious

Congratulations on getting closer to your date. I, too, was anxious. I found that by focusing on my pre-op diet and stocking up for days post-op helped. I had a list of questions to ask my Dr at my pre-op appointment. I left there feeling much calmer. On the day of surgery, yes I was anxious but knew that I have done my part and couldn’t wait to be done. Now, 4 days out, I’m focusing on fluids and walking. The entire process is overwhelming..I focus on one part at a time and that makes it easier for me. You can do it!
  17. 4 days post-op from the sleeve and gallbladder removal. Haven’t lost one pound😢. While the pain is manageable I’m struggling to get all my liquids and Protein goals. I have been experiencing terrible headaches that make me dizzy. Trying to stay positive, sip, sip, sip and walk. Still no BMs either.
  18. My surgery is tomorrow and I’m starting to get nervous. That’s normal, right? also..what do I need for my overnight bag in the hospital?

    Helppppp

I had my last pre-op appointment last Wednesday and stepped on the scale to fin I’d only lost 1/2 a pound! I was discouraged😐. Got on the scale today and i’m Down 6. Haven’t done anything different guess my body just needed to adjust. Think positive, stick to the program you have and it will work. You got this!

    Pre-op and obsessed?

Sounds like you are excited about your decision. Reading and research will help when any doubts creep in or when you have a hard day. Good luck!

    2 weeks Shake Diet

Always remember the end goal! My surgery is 7/9 so I’m finishing up my pre-op diet. The first few days were hard, I had cravings, I missed eating what I wanted, my body revolted on the third day with the increase in protein and all the liquid...by day 5 I thought I had this on the bag. I cheated on day six 😢. But found this forum and found that I wasn’t alone in the struggle. Had my Pre-op appt with Dr on day 7 and left there feeling empowered. Be ready for the inner struggle but be strong. You can do this! Try out the different flavors and types of protein shakes. I find that for busy days I like the ready to drink types—easy to grab while you’re on the go. Good luck and prayers for a safe recovery!
  23. I’m sorry you aren’t feeling well. I was going to ask the same question so I hope you don’t mind if I tag along and see what the others say. My surgery is Tuesday and this is the first day in the 2 week pre-op diet that I have felt this miserable. All the same symptoms you described. Positive thoughts coming your way.
  24. Thank you for the thoughts and encouragement. I appreciate the help.
