    Insane Itching

I got home from the hospital and had red scratches all over my stomach..like an animal had clawed me. I was horrified! Turns out that it was a reaction to the pain meds they gave me in the hospital and after. Once I warned myself off the prescription meds the itching stopped.

    1st day on purée food

I was so excited to start on purées. I’m still working on the slow part of eating but haven’t had any problems. Ive been making riced cauliflower or broccoli and blending it up with a bit of broth and a scoop of unflavored protein power. I got tired of soup and this at least gives me some sort of different texture.

    Yogurt!

Oikos Triple Zero is my best bet. I mix in a scoop of unflavored protein powder. I ate a lot of yogurt before surgery but find this particular brand works best for me. Too Good works great too..but I find that the texture is “off” for me. You can buy them on singles..which I did at first to see what I liked.

    Zofran?

Mine was for 8mg and I found I didn’t need them much. I found when I had mild nausea I drank fluids with electrolytes and rested for a bit and I was fine. sorry you are having to deal with this at all. Prayers that you feel better.

    Am I dehydrated ?

I agree with the post above..try liquid with electrolytes and sip, sip, sip. I would also call my Dr office if it concerned me just to make sure it’s not something else.

So proud of your success! Keep going!

    Soup question

I eat my soup as usual (the “normal way”) and then wait for 30 minutes to drink anything.

Getting rid of all the junk food!

Yay for you! I cleaned out my pantry prior to surgery so I wouldn’t be tempted..and I’m glad I did. I can’t even count the number of times I’ve wandered in there looking for something. You’re taking the right steps. Wishing you continued success.

Under table exercise bike or eliptical?

I borrowed a friend’s while at work. It took some time to get used to typing and pedaling at the same time 🤣. But after a bit I found I forgot I was using it...until the next morning—couldn’t figure out why my legs were so sore. I think it could be a benefit to you if you monitor your time using it.

    Overdid it?

I also had occasional pain by my incisions. It turned out to be nothing, I just took it easy for the rest of the day. However..I agree with the response above too. Call your team if you are concerned.

    Menstrual cycles

I finished mine the week before surgery and had to get off of my birth control 2 weeks prior to my surgery date. I was expecting to not resume them for a while but 28 days later it was back and was normal.

    Everything hurts

I started to feel “back to normal” on day 5. By then I was sore but not in major pain and only took my pain meds at night. Very cold drinks bothered me some so I stuck to slightly colder than room temp for the first few weeks. I think it’s all preference and what works for you. Take your time recovering. Congratulations!

    Missing food today

I’m with you. I’m 4 weeks post surgery and am dying to chew/crunch something. I almost cried the other day because I’m so sick of liquids and purées. Crossing my fingers that after my checkup next week I can move to soft foods🙄. It’s going to get better.
  14. Love this! I have had all the same thoughts too and it does help to reflect when I’m frustrated. Anything that keeps you accountable🙂.
  15. I bought unflavored protein powder and add it to soups, yogurt, purées. That had been helping tremendously in trying to achieve my daily goals. I went to GNC and bought Genepro. They were very nice and helpful to find the right protein that would work for me.

    I CHEATED

I’m with you. I went to a restaurant for the first time post op yesterday. I was overwhelmed and ordered what the “old me” would order. I was horrified when the food came. I managed to eat 3 bites..very small bites. Then asked for it to be boxed up. Once home I tried a few more bites and then ended up throwing it all out. All in all..I don’t think I’m ready for the “real world” or restaurants and normal meals with others. Plus I feel terrible about my choices. Baby steps to the new me...
  17. I’m on purée too and travel a lot for work. I always have protein shakes available in case there really isn’t anything I can eat or if I’m traveling by car. Believe me I’ve had enough of them but it works in a pinch. I also tell myself that this is not a time to try new foods—I’d rather do that at home in case of negative side effects. Stick to your plan and call your NUT for suggestions. safe travels!

    Full liquid diet

I can understand that it’s incredibly frustrating. I’m 3 weeks out from surgery and am on full liquids too. Trying new foods has either gone well or a disaster, resulting in me having to slide back to clear liquids for a day or so. Please take your time with the process to prevent injury to your new tummy.

    Fatigue

My incisions didn’t start feeling better until the end of week 2. I just finished the end of week 3 and have been making an effort to get more steps in by taking a few short walks everyday...it still makes me tired. Take your time and don’t overdo it. Rest when you have to.

I feel better after my surgery

So happy for you! Wishing you continued success on your journey.

    Am I a sleeve failure?

I’m heartbroken that you are so sad, but please stop beating yourself up! Your body is still healing after a major surgery. The best news is you made a decision to be healthier for the rest of your life! I, too, am often shocked by how much people say they lost on a lot of these threads. I just learned to Stop comparing myself to them. Just be you and focus on your goals. It’s hard for me too..when it gets too overwhelming and I have a stall I just focus on one meal at a time or one day at a time.

    weak

I’m at 3 1/2 weeks post sleeve and YES! I have and have had the same thing. The first two weeks were rough..couldn’t believe that just taking a shower or other normal activities cause me to be so tired. It DOES improve. While I’m not back to normal yet, I am more aware of listening to my body and rest when it tells me to. I’ve worked up to taking mini-walk throughout the day to get myself moving. Sometimes I need a short rest/nap after. We’re recovering from major surgery...take your time. It’s been hard for me because I’m usually a busybody but part of this processes is learning to listen to ourselves. Good Luck!

    Full liquids too soon?

I’m having the same issue trying to move to purée stage. Some days it’s great, some not so great. I just retreat to clear liquids for the next day and start over once everything calms down. Seems like it’s all trials and error since everyone is different, but I’d rather be safe than sick all day.

    Soup disaster

I made it to the full liquid phase of my post-op. Yay! I can have soup. I was never so excited about soup. I made tomato soup and thinned it out. I had 4 oz, ate it at a glacial pace. 20 minutes later the gurgling started and my new tummy revolted. Am I just not ready for full lipids yet?
  25. My surgery is scheduled for 7/9. While I’m excited, i’m Struggling with the pre-op diet. I just want a piece of pizza. Did anyone else have cravings before surgery? I don’t want to give in and feel bad about it but am white knuckling it for the next few days seems like forever.
