My Port is on the move?
Rugrat682 replied to rathsog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No worries! My port has moved a lot. I am almost a year out and the port is now about 3 inches above my incision. It moves as your body heals and changes. -

Hello All, Now that I am able to close out my Lane Bryant credit card my new favorite place to shop is Marshalls. I use to love their clothes but could never find anything that would fit. Being 5'1 it was extra difficult since everything was not only too small but too long. I am proud to say I love Marshalls petite department. It is strange to admit I now have problems on the other end of the spectrum. A lot of the 6P are now too big and they do not carry to many 4P pants - but if that is my issue then I can definitely find a way to deal with it. Also, Old Navy sells petite in most of their pants online as well. I ordered 3 pairs of size 4 short or petite pants from them last night. Hope this can be helpful to any other shorties out there. Good Luck all - keep up the good work. Kim

Massachusetts Bandsters Chat
Rugrat682 replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello Mass Bandsters! I have been stuck at the same weight for quite some time. Not going to complain since I am doing so well, however, last week I went on a cruise and lost 3 lbs!! Holy Crap! I am so excited! Don't know if I got stuck in a rut and needed to switch things up or what. I ate very well on the cruise just more then usual. So maybe that was the trick. Also exercised a lot ~ same as usual ~ but did different types. So if your stuck in a rut like I was try switching it up a bit. Hope all is well with everyone. Good Luck! I am 13lbs away from my final goal. Had a blast wearing all my new size 4 & 6 clothes on the cruise!!!! -

Rugrat682 replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am down 83 with 16 left to go! I just fit into a size six and just bought my first bikini for my cruise in 23 days. Thought another country would be a good place to try it out! I am also hoping to loose all my weight by my bandiversary. Keep up the good work everyone. I too just hit the "normal range!" -

Is this Liz from Lahey? If so - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! If not - Congratulations to whom ever you might be! I too hit my 50 lbs this weekend! 20 pre op - 30 post op! GO US. -
Hi - I was banded May 5th and have had 3 fills thus far. I have a total of 1.8 in my 4cc band. My last fill was last Friday and I am finally feeling some restriction. No frothing or anything but when I eat I definitely feel full. I just ate 3 bites after my "full signal/burp" and am really feeling it now. This is good because it will help me to stop eating sooner.

Hi - I was banded on May 5th and have lost steadily. However, the last two weeks I have not. Glad to hear this happens and can change. Hopefully quickly. Changing up my exercise (just started spinning agian and adding weight training!) and will try to change up the eating. Thanks for all of your feedback. It is always nice to know we are not alone. Thanks

Hi - I just started dating someone new 2 weeks ago. I did not tell him right away but then I decided he can either like me for me or he can hit the road. Anyways, I told him and he was so nice and supportive! He said good for me for doing what I want. Plus is I am only going to look better that can't hurt either! Right? Good luck.

I love the Simply Smart Milk. There is the Skim that tastes like 1% and the 2% that tastes like whole milk. It is less watery and has a higher protein count then other milks. Give this a try. Hopefully they sell it in your area. Good Luck

I had my first glass of wine this weekend. OMG! I couldn't even drink the whole glass. I was wasted. So I now know a half a glass of wine is good for me!

A thread for Single Bandsters
Rugrat682 replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello Single Bandsters. Thanks for the advice about my upcoming date within the past week. I really appreciate it. Well I ended up going out for dinner last night and it went really well. I bit the bullet and told him and he was totally fine with it! So he understood why I ate 3 oz of chicken and was done. At least it takes a while to eat so they don't feel like they are eating all by them self. I was really happy about his reaction. He told me that it is great to do whatever makes me happy and I shouldn't care about what other people think. True! After thinking about it too - what guy is going to hate the fate that the person they are out with is just going to look even better! Sounds good to me. All in all we had a great time and have plans to go out again Sat! Ya! I did have 3/4 of a glass of wine last night after dinner and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I am a cheap date! How long after surgery did everyone wait to have a glass of wine? Glad to know that is all I need and do not plan on doing it all the time. Thanks, KIM -
A thread for Single Bandsters
Rugrat682 replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello single bandsters, I have given advice to people on this tread and I know I have answered this question for others but now it is my turn! I need some of the same advice. I am going on a first date this weekend which is also the first date since surgery. He has left it up to me what we should do and would like to get to know him better before I tell him about my surgery. With that said, I am going on week 7 and do not want to mess up my diet with food or alcohol. Any suggestions for having a first date without spilling the beans and without ruining my diet??? Thanks -
lower left belly pain.
Rugrat682 replied to allana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi - I had a very similar pain and still have not idea what it is from. It hurt really bad after surgery but has almost gone away. It still comes back from time to time like today. But nothing like what you are feeling now. I asked my Dr. about it because my port is on the right side and the pain in on the left. So the only thing I can think is if the poked something while doing the procedure or I pulled some type of muscle??? No idea. If it is a nerve like you dr. mentioned did he say it would go away? I am in the same boat. However, if it is the same thing it will get better and hopefully soon. Good luck and don't overdue it. -
Hi - I have felt that feeling. It is not fun. Does it hurt really bad or just a little. It is most likely your port. Your port is attached to your ab muscles and as you move the port should eventually move right along with you. But as it heals is could be pulling away from your muscles until it is fully healed. That happened to me when I did too much to quickly and it was very painful. However, I do not feel it at all anymore. But it is always good to have it checked out. I did and it made me feel better for them to feel it and let me know the port did not flip and it would be ok. I just needed to give it more time to heal. Good Luck - hope this is helpful.

I am a early May bander, however, I have been very cautious with the exercising. I did too much too early and disrupted the internal sutures 2 weeks out and it REALLY hurt. So I have been walking 1.5 miles. I was up to 4 times a week, then only made it twice last week also due to the 95 degree weather. I also attempted the elyptical last week - but stopped after 8.5 minutes when I felt some pain. I was wondering if anyone noticed me leaving the gym after 9 minutes! LOL! Anyways, that is where I am at. This week should be a much more productive week for me. Good Luck everyone!

41 BMI what are my chances of approval
Rugrat682 replied to kgranite79's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi - I have Blue Cross MA HMO and I got approved no problem with a BMI of 40.4! I did not have to do a 6 month program nor did a have any co-morbilities. Good Luck with your journey. Hope this helps. KIM -
Hi - I recently received my lapband at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. I was 5'1 and 214 lbs and qualified by .4% so your probably right on the border. I would start by talking to your primary care dr. and he/she should lead you in the right direction. That is what I did. Hope this is helpful. Good Luck.

decaf iced coffee??
Rugrat682 replied to luigismama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried it early on and it did not go well for me. I tried 2 weeks out and 3 weeks out. It made me feel gross. However, everyone is different and by week 4 I was fine with coffee. If so, just start with a sip or two and see how you do. My dr. recommended fat free creamer. I like the simply smart creamer. Yum. Good Luck. -
First weekend eating out after being banded....HELP!
Rugrat682 replied to cowgrrl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Go for broth soup and don't eat any chunks that seem scary. See if they have a ground turkey burger (don't eat the roll) or mashed potatoes and only eat a little. Just enough to enjoy and feel normal. Whatever you do eat nice and slow. I have a client lunch tomorrow 2 days after my first fill. I am hoping they have soup! Good Luck. -
I had my first fill today too! Your right it really wasn't that bad. I did not look at all! I can't view u-tube at work so I will check out your video at home to see what actually happened while I was staring at the ceiling.
