Amped up Pure Protein Bars
Bastian replied to Orchids&Dragons's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
yep I get you, I bet most of us are low carb (under 100g day) anyway. I'm the same as you can't eat a whole one at once, I would love some delicious savoury ones premade. I can't believe how much I hate the sweetness now. -
Can we just be for real ???
Bastian replied to november11's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Honestly, no. My weight gain made absolutely no difference to how he was with me and nor is the weight loss. I honestly did it for myself. -
Is drinking juice ok?
Bastian replied to Katanaya77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL very very naughty!!!! yes you may like vodka and juice but they are both terrible choices health-wise, says me who drinks fizzy drinks coz it helps with the damn nausea! Do as I say not as I do -
Amped up Pure Protein Bars
Bastian replied to Orchids&Dragons's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I am having to have a protein bar a day too and like you have it for breakfast because I can't get enough food protein in due to ongoing nausea. I look at the total carbs though as they are pretty much the same effect on the body sugar level wise, I find if I have 15g carbs or less per 'meal' I am fine, any higher and I dump, also why diabetics go low carb not just low sugar. But I guess for us depending on how small our intake is per day it is a different ball game. I did 20g net carbs for so long I can't get my head away from it, lucky that even if I have 1 meal a day with 15g carbs I never go over 20g just because of the volume of food required. For some reason I am rambling, so I shall shush now lol I do wish we could get some of the USA foods in UK tho, the range here is pants unless you buy from Amazon or eBay then they cost like a hundred bucks for 12 bars lol -

ugh as a back pain sufferer I totally get your frustration at no one listening. I was in agony with my back post op but everyone thinks because you can still move it is 'nothing'. I too have degenerative disc disease, arthritis and 3 ruptured discs, and it is no fun! So ridiculous that no one even ran a finger down your spine to see if you had any tender spots!

Thought I wanted the sleeve, Doc recommends RNY
Bastian replied to rglad1267's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Definitely go for RNY if you have GERD, the sleeve is notorious for worsening symptoms, just do a search on 'sleeve revision GERD' and see how many people have had to change to RNY. I had both ops in a space of 2 weeks and I wasn't any more uncomfortable after the RNY than I was with the sleeve. All the same bits get moved around, bits still get cut stitched etc etc and you still have the same laparoscopic scars -
Was anyone told NOT to bring CPAP to hospital?
Bastian replied to pssk's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok when you use CPAP or BiPAP air gets blown into the stomach as well as the lungs, so they have to weigh up how serious your sleep apnoea is vs the risk of air being blown into your pouch and causing issues. So if they say don't take it, don't take it, or take it but don't expect to use it especially if you don't have severe sleep apnoea Does that make sense? -

Get your butt to the Dr ASAP even with postural hypotension you shouldn't be blacking out completely and to be honest with the thousands of diabetic patients I have looked after I have never known this to happen, if they pass out then they stay passed out due to low blood sugars. Are you getting enough fluid in?
-
Did they not give you pain relief on discharge? Are you getting enough water in as this help get your blood pressure up, did they give you iv fluids?
