  1. hey rosy I have dm'd you too, but i am 5 months out and still can't do chicken. there is no rush stick to soft foods. My dietician told me to stick to soups with dry crackers (yes i know not the norm but it is due to my awful nausea and too low calories). I find minced meat much better so i mostly have minced pork and veggies but only a couple of mouthfuls. Also you need some anti nausea drugs xx
  2. Actually a non diabetic with insulin resistance should be fasting between meals not eating more often as it spikes blood sugar levels which then gets converted to fat and then fat gets stored via gluconeogenesis in the liver. So fasting is the way to go not eating more often. @Serengirl
  3. I wouldn't call 42lbs in 6 weeks slow!!! lol it is melting off you.

    Water goal issues

I couldn't reach mine either but I tried and I stayed hydrated even though it was less than recommended.
  5. You really need some nicotine patches to help you quit. Non smokers don't get the addiction side of smoking and it is more involved than just doing it. I quit using Alan Carrs quit smoking now book, smoked from 13 then at 36 read that book and couldn't wait to get to the end of it to stop! No grieving the loss of the cigs at all. You aren't allowed to quit until you finish the book either, believe it or not lol. Good luck.
  6. Sorry life has been so hard, I agree with Elcee's suggestion though. Good luck x
  7. I didn't have a drain, did they explain why you have one?
  8. Nothing to add just sending you virtual hugs, honestly believe it or not you are better off without her if she thinks speaking to anyone let alone her own child like this is even close to ok or normal. ❗

    Could i smoke after 1 month ?

As a smoker, I must must must say DON'T DO IT!!! Also, it doesn't reduce anxiety even though it feels like it is, it actually increases your heart rate which is the opposite of anxiety-reducing. Smoking at any time isn't safe. Get yourself the book Quit Smoking Now by Alan Carr. Also smokers are much more likely to get nasty ulcers around their surgery bits!!
  10. Actually quite a few antidepressants ARE in liquid form and I know because it is my job
  11. Also, the only reason I couldn't take mine were due to post op complications, no other reason.
  12. Actually that is incorrect and it depends if the medications can be taken in liquid form, what you take them for and what your team want you to do it is not always a 'MUST'
  13. Well done that's amazing!
  14. just hang in there, frustrating I know but things will move again when they are ready to x
  15. you shouldn't be in so much pain still, hope the Dr helps asap, let us know how you go?
  16. 15 days isn't too long post op if you aren't eating but if you are getting constipation cramps and fullness then yes some stool softeners are required. Not going is not the same as being constipated, constipation is when it is uncomfortable/heavy/painful and you need to go. Where as post-op some people just have nothing much going in so there is nothing to come out
  17. I had a horrendous time in August but my stomach completely twisted itself right after my sleeve so I was in the hospital for 2 weeks then had an emergency bypass. The odd person here has a tough time. As a nurse, I shall remind you to take your pain relief regularly NOT just when the pain is worse because you need to keep on top of moderate pain not wait until you are in agony ok? Always have 1 dose at bedtime too. Also, don't forget this IS major surgery even if it was key-hole, give your body time to heal gently, take it easy and remember 6 weeks until your innards are healed. You will get there and you aren't alone xx

    No F#$ckin BMI Way

Exactly! It takes time to adjust to the new way we look and even though we may look thin compared to before, it doesn't necessarily mean we look sick, just different AND it takes the brain a long time to adjust. Anyway good article explains this whole 'i have a big frame' thing. https://www.healthstatus.com/health_blog/body-fat-calculator-2/frame-size-how-much-does-it-affect-your-weight/

    Lord help me....

baby steps, stop being mean to yourself you tasted a bit of cabbage, you will remember not to next time! (or until your tummy can handle it) You've only just had surgery so your brain has a lot of catching up to do, just a teeny tiny blip and talk to yourself as though you are your own friend. You have huge lifestyle changes to make and it's gonna take time to adjust as everyone has already said
  24. YAY congrats on being in the healthy weight range THE most important thing is you are happy with the weight you are, you know? My mother wants me to get to 145 again BUT I am currently 176 and if I stop here I'll be happy. I am in a UK size 12 (USA size 8), I'm at the top end of healthy BMI and that is fine by me, I can move better, breathe better and look better so everyone else with their opinion on what I should weigh can bugger off YOU DO YOU
