    Band to Mini bypass

yeah you'll be up asap and walking. The days of bed rest post-op are long gone. Ask for some painkillers if the gas pain gets too much and a heat pack. It's horrible pain huh
  2. you're having major surgery which takes 6 weeks recovery so you won't have much energy anyway. But food wise you will go into ketosis and use your body fat for energy which can make you feel energized.
  3. no gallbladder, had it out years ago. The surgeon thinks it's something mechanical, but my surgery wasn't straight fwd (sleeve to bypass in 2 weeks), so not surprising it's a mechanical issue (if it is). Gosh you've been through the wars too, bless you!
  4. BMI charts are just a guide as they don't take in your frame or muscle mass. I AM underweight, I have bones sticking out everywhere and am getting pressure areas on my hips/shoulders and knees when in bed. I have been seen now by the surgeon and dietician and am to have an urgent CT and swallow test. I've had urgent bloods and have protein malnutrition and am low in other nutrients so been prescribed super strength multi vits, high dose zinc and vit B12 injections, which I've started, the B12 injections have been stopped in the UK for most and they all had to go on to oral due to COVID, but I started the day they got my bloods back. So am set up for 2 per week until the end of the month. Again due to COVID 'urgent' isn't very quick. Just hope I stop feeling so ill soon though because I currently have a very low quality of life. I can't do dairy or whey, due to severe new dairy intolerance post op and the vegan ones taste fine but they are all I can get in during a day which means protein is still way too low but then everything else is too. Hopefully not long though and I'll start feeling human again

    Advice needed - VSG Failure

oh sounds interesting thanks, I shall check it out it's one of those things that fascinates me, because you read on here the big differences/struggles people are having. I'm having the opposite problem and don't feel well with it so can't even enjoy it, speaking to my surgeon this week tho before i end up with a bmi of 10
  7. bmi 20-25 is 'normal' weight you look great and your loose skin is barely there!! I'm not jealous...nuh uh, ok maybe a tad lol
  8. how is everyone with the covid crapola going on diet wise, stress eating?

    Bile Reflux post MGB

oh glad i found this i'm having terrible bile issues
  10. Love how they poo poo you when you know your own body, I have lots of bile coming up too, in fact, 1 night I inhaled bile in my sleep which obviously woke me, the pain of it in my airway was horrendous and I REALLY thought I was dying. They try to make out that I couldn't have but hubby and I are both acute care nurses and we both know what happened and that for 2 weeks after I had a wet chunky cough. I think I am going to have to kick some butt with this hospital bloody dietician is useless too.

    Keto

go for it, it lowers cholesterol, reduces fatty liver etc look up The Diet Doctor he is a swedish medical dr doing fab things with keto, website is excellent
  12. Bastian

    Keto

you obviously have no understanding of keto, most wls patients are meant to do low carb/keto as it is carbs that help you put on weight via gluconeogenesis in the liver when you have insulin resistance from a diet too high in carbs. it is not a fad.

    Advice needed - VSG Failure

surgeons seem quick to blame vsg patients don't they, sounds like a revision to bypass would be good.
  14. I would be absolutely gobsmacked if they still want to be doing any kind of tests at the moment, the USA COVID death rate is horrendous why would they risk spreading it more? :O Ring them back hun and say what's going on guys!?
  15. Your weight loss is awesome! A 3 week stall is pretty par for the course, we ALL stall sooner or later and repeatedly as our metabolism adjusts I'm 8 months out and only eat around 500 cals most days unless i eat some kind of junk food to up my calories. I just can't eat enough food to get over 500 cals with meat/veg aaaaand I don't wanna be eating junk regularly you know? I would really try not to worry too much at this point still early days so slowly incorporate weights when ready and adjust your food then

    Regret

Hey Celeste, sorry to hear you are still having a bad time, not sure if you remember but i went through hell too...still am struggling 7 months on (i had the emergency bypass a week after my sleeve). I really think it sounds like you need an endoscopy so they can get the camera in there and have a proper look. You are getting so dehydrated to need hospital admission and if the swallow test showed nothing then they need to investigate further, so let them know! Not easy when you feel so awful but just do it and get sorted. I got rudely woken by bile rushing up in my sleep the other night and I inhaled it, I literally thought I was dying, pure acid going down your airway is horrendously painful. I now have a wet chunky cough so am trying to cough half hourly to prevent pneumonia developing. Like seriously when are all the bl**dy issues going to stop waaaaaa Ignore any nasty people on here they aren't worth the energy Big Hugs x

    Regret

Be kind she is stressed and unwell and fed up
  20. I lost 30lbs, sounds good huh BUT I went through absolute hell. I had 2 major surgeries a week apart because my sleeve went wrong so ended up with a bypass, I have had nothing but problems since, nausea/vomiting/bile coming up in my sleep which I inhaled and the burn in my oesophagus was so intense I thought I might die then and there (that was just last week 7 months out), due to inhaling it I now have a chest infection and I am trying to cough hard every 30 mins to prevent pneumonia developing. So, you haven't lost 30lbs but you HAVE lost! THAT is all that matters. Be happy with what you have it could be worse. Good luck xx
  21. you aren't weak, there is so much going on i'm not surprised people are turning to food! Just try to remember you will get your surgery just it is a unknown date and the only thing you can do to help is stay on track xx
  22. so nice reading how everyone is doing i started with a sleeve then had an emergency bypass 1 week later and I have been unwell since my team have been useless too! So there is a complaint in the works. Apart from those negatives all is great, bmi is 21, i weigh 67kg or 147lbs (am 5 foot 10) and in uk 10 jeans so erm usa 6 i think. Lost 108lbs, So pretty damn stoked with that!
  23. As said above I'd wait 1 more week before eating. Concentrate on fluids and protein drinks. The hiccups you describe I call hiccburps and they can be loud and hurt a bit, slow down your intake. I have terrible lactose intolerance now so might be why i hated the ricotta bake, when i have dairy it is like i am having severe dumping syndrome! There is no rush to be on solids your main focus needs to be fluids and protein, so take a deep relaxing breath and let your body heal and increase solids slowly x
