    Scar Cream!

I never bothered with my previous scars from gallbladder removal and they are so faint now that you can't see them, so I won't bother with these ones either BUT bio oil daily is meant to be great
  2. oh bless you! Yeah those few days without mine were really gross, I felt like I was walking through treacle and like I wasn't in my body properly ugh. Luckily one of the nurses registered I hadn't been having it! Then because I had the volvulus (twisted bowel) nothing could get through anyway, so I spent a week taking the meds and forcing myself not to vomit as long as possible, I could sometimes manage 15 mins so would have absorbed a little bit, but the whole thing was a big mess, meds wise, surgery wise lol. Well done on getting on to the fluoxetine, they worked fantastically for me for 9 years AND no hideous withdrawals if you have to for any unexpected reason

    LADIES ONLY PLEASE!

Oestrogen gets stored in fat cells, so as you lose fat the oestrogen is released and can cause periods to appear or to be different to One's usual menstrual cycle It does settle down eventually though. Any concerns though and a smear test is always worth while to rule out any nasty things going on

How many calories do you eat a day?

Oh my gosh, your list is never-ending you poor thing! I imagine every single day is pretty exhausting for you. Great that you got the RNY because losing weight will at least ease some of the side effects like the pressure on your back, si joints etc. So how many years did your sister study to become a medical specialist lol I do really hope that as your weight reduces you get some relief from some of your issues

  11. I would expect some diarrhoea at this stage with introducing foods as your bowel has been resting since pre op. Any food we eat now can cause peristalsis to kick in a bit fast and then cause diarrhoea. As already stated try again at a later date and you may well find once your bowel is working properly again you won't get problems the next day

    Nausea and Pain

Hi you are only 2 weeks out from a big surgery (despite it being laparoscopic), it sounds to me like you might just be doing a little bit too much Take it a little easier, with regular breaks, it takes 6 weeks for recovery and even then more healing will go on for a while longer Just editing to say none of your wounds will even be healed yet, so if you are cleaning and bending etc you are straining the wounds inside so they will hurt. It's normal and pain is a sign that you need to stop doing whatever it is you are doing. Although by stop I don't mean lie on the sofa and do nothing I just mean your wounds are telling you that they aren't happy with how much you are doing. Normal for them to ache a bit at the end of the day, but def pull back a bit if you are getting sharp pains.
  14. yep they can with a PICC line too

    Anyone dating after surgery

Sorry, you feel lonely it is hard I understand. Sometimes you just want that 1 person there to share with or have them look after you when you need it huh I know it isn't the same but do you have a good friend and family network to ease it a little bit?

    3 week stall

Also stuck in a stall. VGS on 12th August Bypass on 20th August Lost 15kg=33lbs and the scale hasn't moved for about 4 or 5 days now Frustrating for us all because I think our poor brains are so wired to our past failures a stall can feel like we are failing again. Luckily we have all the long term members here who have 'been there done that' who can reassure us

    Anyone dating after surgery

@Lena809 Sorry you were conned by a jerk. I have no dating stories/hints/tips but I hope you find the right person for you. We all deserve to love and be loved. Are you happy being single though? I always find people meet nicer partners when they are happy in their own company. But this can be hard if you feel lonely. Anyway good luck

How many calories do you eat a day?

If you could incorporate some weights into your exercise routine you would increase your basal metabolic rate, so with your RNY you would have a much better resting metabolism I know easier said than done, I will have to do the same once healed and feeling human again. Doesn't have to be a lot just enough to increase our muscle mass and kick that metabolism in its lazy butt!

    Protein

Oh that is great seeing it all set out like that thanks @FluffyChix
  20. What is the rationale for a CVC? They are a huge risk for serious infection and sepsis. Could he not give you a midline like a PICC line? I ended up with a PICC due to severe dehydration etc (I ended up pretty ill after my first op on the 12th August). A PICC is less risky but just as reliable, I would ask if they would consider that instead
  21. hey @Briswife15, how did you cope with the withdrawals? Mine were terrible I felt like I was trying to walk on the moon, I seem to be absorbing ok though as that horrible feeling has gone. Interestingly I had to come off Prozac to go on to Venlafaxine as I had been on them so long they just weren't helping anymore. Those few days in hospital were pretty hideous going cold turkey off them. Unfortunately, surgical teams don't liaise with medical teams enough in these situations!

    INCISION INFECTION

They sound perfectly normal. Drain sites close from the inside upwards. If the skin healed first then the hole underneath would end up being a pocket called a sinus which would fester and become infected. A couple of steri strips and small dressing over them should be fine. Don't touch or pick them. They don't sound infected. It is normal for wound sites to be hot pink and tender and ooze. An infection would be very red, hot and very painful and the redness would be growing in diameter each day. Nothing to be scared or angry about, all perfectly normal
  23. I have 'flavdrops' and the taste is amazing/intense only need a couple of drops.
  24. I have been living on beef bone broth, tomato soup, cream of chicken soup, protein water, veggie soup
  25. Hi, I went 2 days without my Venlafaxine (Effexor) which has hideous withdrawal effects. So I was started back on them on day 3. They went down fine but due to surgical issues I wasn't keeping them down. In hindsight I wish I had seen my dr and got the liquid version even if for just a weeks supply, so pls consider doing this if you can. Good luck
