I have a kinked/twisted tubing situation.
AliNSanDiego replied to rondawood63's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad to see this post. I saw my doctor this past Thursday for my 2nd fill. He couldn't get a flash of the blue dye back out which is how he "confirms" the fill went well. He did think he accessed my port and 1+ cc's went in band. He said when there is a kink; fluid can go in, but won’t come out. In 4 weeks I will see him again and if the same thing happens I will go in for x-rays. I'm glad to see your recovery was easy!!! -

Anyone have regret within the 1st 2 weeks?
AliNSanDiego replied to health4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yes, I had major regret the first week out. I was even going to the extent of emailing friends and family telling them I wish I had never went through with it....The pain was just miserable for me. Then, at about the end of week 2, my mind became much clearer and my pain was going away. Now I loooooooooove my band and wouldn't change a thing!!! It gets better, I promise! -

Group Seminar Pysch Eval Diet class (1 class) Private session with a dietician I'm really surprised that your Dr. told you to take the BP pills and come back in 6 months. I would be looking for a new Dr. too!!! My BP was just about where you are when I had surgery. In fact, my high BP helped me get approved by my insurance! -

I'm VERY tahnkful becuase It was a very fast process for me. I started the process on May 23rd (that was my consult) to being banded on July 9th. As soon as I got out of my consult appointment I started making calls to set appointments for all the tasks Dr. Bohyrul requires prior to him submitting my case to the insurance. I finished by the end of June & insurance approval took 1 week. -

I Really Want 2 B Able To Eat Anything
AliNSanDiego replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can eat anything I want, just smaller portions. Saying that, I have to watch everything I choose or I will gain every pound I have lost, back! I'm only at 3cc's in my 10cc band so things may change when I get more fills. -
anyone felt this before?
AliNSanDiego replied to lynnie77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get the same thing. Especially after not eating for long periods of time and then eating a meal. I think it's gas? -

I didn't have to get my GP's OK to have the surgery (although she would have supported it). I just went straight to my surgeon. It must be an insurance requirement. I go to Dr. Anita Jackson (off hwy 79 in Temecula). I like her, but she is hard to get in to see. Who is your band surgeon? -
HELP!! :-( I have a bad case of the poops
AliNSanDiego replied to MiniVanMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

How long did you take pain meds?
AliNSanDiego replied to Maribelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I spent one night in the hospital and needed constant I.V. pain meds while there. My Dr. gave me liquid vicodin to take home & I needed every single drop of it. I took it as often as it was directed on the bottle. My first week post-op was very painful! If your Dr. gave it to you, take it as long as you need to!!! -
I have UHC Choice Plus. I went to my first appointment on May 23rd and I was banded on July 9th. UHC was fairly easy to deal with. The day my paperowrk was submitted for approval I started calling them and inquiring. It took them less then a week to approve me and then surgery was scheduled for a week later. At the surgeons office I filled out my paperwork that I have been overweight almost all my life and I had aprox 3 years of weight history (39-42 bmi) from my PCP records. Good luck and I hope your approval comes fast!!

I have no problems eating lettuce. In fact, I can eat more lettuce qty's then I can most other things. It goes right down.

Count me in as a baby too then! I was absolutely miserable the first week post-op. I had surgery on a Wed and had planned to go back to work that following Monday... That didn't happen! I ended up taking an extra 3 days. Then, the first week I was back at work I was a mess. Nearly falling asleep at my desk & downing mylanta as often as possible. I also took liquid Tylenol as often as I cold. Hang in there, it gets sooooooooooooo much better!!! Now I am 6+ weeks post-op and I feel like a new person! I am sure you will too!

OMG!!! I feel....
AliNSanDiego replied to rcoleband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt like I had been run over multiple times by a semi truck. Everything seemed to hurt & nowhere I would sit or lay down was comfortable (bed, couch's, chairs). I had a routine where I would take my pain meds, go outside and walk laps around the house for 10-15 minutes and by the time I came back in the pain meds would take effect and I could sleep for an hour or so. Then I would wake due to pain/discomfort and have to get up & walk laps inside the house then try to sit or lay again and repeat until it was time to take my pain meds again. I spent a lot of that first week walking laps inside and outside my house. The walking & the liquid vicodin seemed to be my only saving grace! I did have some gas/shoulder pains, but those were not my major complaint. I have allergies and was off my allegraD post surgery. I coughed and sneezed a few times and thought my port incision was literally ripping open. I fell to the ground in pain on those occasions. During week 2 post-op I was FINALLY able to sleep more then 1-2 hours at a time. I was in absolute HEAVEN to sleep in my bed again. From then on, things have done nothing but improve! I feel EXCELLENT now. -
OMG!!! I feel....
AliNSanDiego replied to rcoleband's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6 1/2 weeks out and I feel GREAT too! This band is my BEST friend! I wont lie though...the first week post-op, I thought life was going to end before I felt better. After that first week, every day got better and better and now I feel 200 times better then pre-band! -
Shh.. Can you keep a secret??
AliNSanDiego replied to jenz75's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am proud of my band! I told my boss and quite a few of my co-workers prior to the surgery. I am a terrible liar...trying to hide it would have been impossible for me. Now that I am down 3 sizes in clothes, my co-workers who didn't know are approaching me and asking me if I am on a new diet plan (hehe). They all see the pounds falling off of me and want to know what I am doing. I openly tell them and even show them my scars and port site if they are interested. A handful of my co-workers are now interested in getting the band for themselves! Everyone is different though and I can totally understand the other side of the fence where you would want this to be a private matter. Do whatever makes you more comfortable! -
Poll: How many have acid reflux problems?
AliNSanDiego replied to NJChick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My terrible acid reflux did not go away with being banded. I was taking prilosec daily, but my band doctor gave me AcipHex after surgery & it's working VERY well. One pill every morning and I have no problems! -
How much have you lost July Butterfllies??
AliNSanDiego replied to lotzasunshine's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm near my half way mark! Had my first fill today (It wasn't painful at all!). I had 1cc put in during surgery (10cc band). He gave me 2 more for a total of 3cc's. So far I feel no difference, although I was doing OK with just 1cc (slow losing). I do hope I get more restriction then I had before. Congrats to everyone else on their loss!!! I loooooooooove my band!!! -
I went from a size 20 to a size 14 very quickly. I tried staying in the bigger sizes longer to save money, but I looked horrible & just could not go to work like that. Money is flying out the window on new clothes lately! NO complaints from me though!!!

Dr Bhoyrul did my surgery at Scripps in La Jolla. He did an excellent job and I had a very easy time going through the steps I needed prior to insurance approval. Here is a website to contact him La Jolla Surgical
