1 week post op severe stabbing pain on left side.
Lynda486 replied to Tammi O.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tammy I have that same pain today and am also waiting for a call back from the surgeon. I know that I had an abscess when I left the hospital, so it might be that. Looking forward to what you find out! -

I love it!! -
My pain increased through the night and I am having trouble drawing a breath. Called the Surgeons office and when his PA comes in they said they will likely send me for a chest ct and an esaugagram today. They said I had an abscess at my follow up appointment. Anyway the good news is I am below 200 now, so celebrating that!

Lynda486 posted a topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My husband and I want to travel about 4 hours to Wichita starting Friday. Friday is also the day I can start my pureed diet. Am I stuck on liquids for a couple more days or is there anything I can take with me. I need to get some calories in, I have been losing very slowly this week. -

Thanks! I am going to bring along yogurt and cottage cheese. It sure beats protein shakes all day long! Thank-you! -
Wow, I am so sorry you have had to endure this pain and then regain. I had a revision from a VBG to a RNY 3 weeks ago. I am close to feeling normal again. My first surgery was in October 1998 and I went from 302 to 150 in abut a year and a half. But then about 4 years ago I started gaining weight, until I reached 225. My PCP sent me to the surgeon because I had developed a fistula between my pouch and my stapled off stomach, which made it like I didn't have a pouch at all. Anyway it took about 2 months total from my first appointment to surgery. I am on the road to recovery. I can say it seems that the most popular revision is the RNY. Good luck!

I sure wish I would heal enough for these "cold" cramps to go away. I really makes it hard to get my protein in and fluids. I have switched to warm temp liquids, but can't wait for the pain to leave. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Poor Mousecat! I am so sorry to hear you are going through this. I have a "bad back" and I understand the pain, it is awful. I hope you feel better soon. Use heat and ice ( I prefer ice it works better) take care!

You must be having your surgery about now, soon you will be out and in recovery. I think we all worry over our connection to food and how it relates to our everyday life. My husband is still doing all the cooking, but I can't wait to get back to it cooking healthier versions of my favorites. Last night I made a cup of broth and it was amazing! I actually made noise while drinking it, yummo. Best of luck on your journey and we look forward to hearing all about it!

September 2019 🍂🍁
Lynda486 replied to Repeatingthoughts's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 10 days out today and finally have dropped all the water weight from the hospital. Still feeling like a hot mess, but there are changes for the better each day. I am getting in 50 to 60 in fluids a day and only 2 protein shakes and do I feel weak. Today is my first follow up appointment. Still taking a nap everyday, but maybe not today. Hubs is taking me and we might go to the store after, so we shall see how that goes. I am worried about going back to work next week. Glad to see everyone is doing so well! Take care! -
I am now one week post op and pretty miserable still. My surgery was 9/16 and I was in the hospital until 9/20. The surgery had a complication of my gallbladder had started to disintegrate so they took that as well as my entire stomach. I was so inflamed I could hardly move. By Wednesday they had to send me down for several tests because I couldn't draw a deep breath and was actually gasping for air, my torso felt so tight. So I had a swallow test, a chest Xray and then finally a CT of my chest and abdomen. Then to get me out of bed more they threatened me with a broncos copy. I did eventually improve and was able to leave on the 20th weighing 15 pounds more than the day of surgery! I have lost about 9 pounds of it so far and just spoke to the Surgeons office and they agreed it was fluid, probably due to all the things they did during surgery. I do feel better everyday, but it is slow going. I realize this is going to be a tough road, but worth every step in the end to be well ad healthy. Thanks for listening! P.S. My first weight lost surgery was not a sleeve as I had thought but a Vertical Banded Gastroplasty, which they stopped doing because of complications. My surgeon was surprised when he got in there!
