EGD pre op typical part of work up??
Lynda486 replied to Beachdaze's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it is, they need to get a good look at what they will be dealing with. It really isn't a big deal. They give yu meds and you won't really remember much at all. -
I have metal screws and rods in my lower back and still get MRI's. That was a concern of mine but it turns out it doesn't effect it. I would definitely mention it before you go in though.

Surgery date 12/19/19
Lynda486 replied to Melimel215787's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am excited for you! Which surgery are you having? -
I have naturally curly hair and can get away with washing my hair once to twice a week. Sounds like I may have to cut it shorter when it starts to fall out. I don't remember how much I lost the first surgery.

Favorite puréed food?
Lynda486 replied to NCmomof3_fightsback's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Sounded so good I had to look the recipe up: https://asimplepalate.com/blog/slow-cooker-autumn-squash-soup/ -
Much as I'd like to embrace JRT Mom's suggestion, I can't stand it when the yard dogs get off the leash and wander all over the place. At home, I just rock a decent sports-bra. Heck, I often sleep in them because I just can't stand the tatas hanging down on my belly. Besides, they come in handy for my AM yoga routine. This is me as well, got to keep them contained lol

Favorite puréed food?
Lynda486 replied to NCmomof3_fightsback's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I did the first few times, but the tomatoes in salsa really have the squish factor so I didn't puree after the first few times. -
Favorite puréed food?

I am also a fan of the refried beans. We buy the black beans by Ole Elpaso. I add some salsa and some shredded cheese to it as well. -
I have a terrible back since a fall down a flight of concrete stairs. I have had 3 surgeries on my back. Now my Thoracic spine is having issues. I would recommend the injections and go from there. My thoracic pain does not respond to the injections and now I am on a buprenorphine pain patch. Just recently my primary told me she can not dispense this as it is equivalent to 90 morphine. Now I am waiting for my pain management appointment in early November. Good luck with this, it is awful to be in pain!

When will I be able to work a normal schedule?
Lynda486 replied to Scisue's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Scisue! I am also from Missouri! Anyway, I have an office job but I spend half my day on my feet. The first day I went back I realized how weak I felt. It has gotten a lot better, I am 6 weeks out and feel about normal. One day you will realize, wow I feel better! I hope that is soon for you. -
I have been rocking the uni-boob since a week out from surgery. I have a drawer full of older bras that I am waiting to get into. Thanks for all the bra info!

Told not to lose weight before surgery
Lynda486 replied to Lynda486's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I am now 6 weeks post op! -
My surgery has not been scheduled yet but I was told by the nurse not to lose weight because I am so close to the lower limit. I started drinking more fluids got 50 ounces in yesterday so I am used to drinking. What diet can I follow with out losing weight. Thanks Lynda
-
I am getting 50 to 100 grams of protein each day and yesterday despite being a work day I got in almost 800 calories! I did discover I was completely constipated and will not let that happen again, whoa! Now I can't wait to see the scale Monday or maybe I will put it off another week. Thanks all!
-
I was also told I could shower right away, but not to scrub the incisions, to let the soapy water wash over my stomach.
-
Thank-you so much for the encouragement. I have decided to weigh in on Mondays from now on. I need to figure out what to eat that will up my calories. At the moment I am eating my 1/2 cup of food at each meal and then 2 snacks a day at 1/2 cup each, I get in 300 to 500 cal a day. I get most of my water in each day, but sometimes put off food to get my water in, sigh. I know it will start coming off again, just have to be patient!

my personal little official thread
Lynda486 replied to mousecat88's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Eventually you will work your way into standing straight up. I don't remember (was 20 years ago) if I was to try and stand straighter but I think it just happened eventually. -
Told not to lose weight before surgery
Lynda486 replied to Lynda486's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
The funny thing is that when I went to my last pre op appointment they told me I was okay because I was having the surgery for other medical reasons so my weight didn't matter, ugh! I stressed so much trying to keep the scale from going down (it was hard) Turns out my gallbladder was not helping at the time. When is your surgery? -
I agree with AJ, if you can't get the support you need at home, get it here. We are all here for you!

I agree with you, way to young to understand the implications! -
Thanks sir, I know you are right, I just have to stop telling myself that and to stay off the scale!
-
I hope so, thanks!
