    Struggling a Little . . . help

I feel you. I had my surgery may 2008. I went from 245 to 195, however i am now at around 215:( I also want to get to 150 but i havent been excersizng and thats my downfall. I don't want to gain my weight back. Im hypoglycemic and try to eat at least every 2 hrs. My morning starts at 6:00 am and i have cream of wheat in the morning, two hrs later apples and grapes, 2hrs later brocalie, carrots and califlower with some ranch. Lunch is small saled of lettuce and cucumber and bowl of soup. i get off at two and then don't eat till dinner and I eat whatever i fix my husband but just not as much. Sounds like a lot but if i don't eat like this then im stuffing bad carbs down so i try not to allow my self to get hungry. now if i can just get out for a walk! im mad at myself for spending so much money and i was doing good but i live in a small town and i need some good protein but havent had a chance to get out of town. I feel protein curbs my appetite. low fat triscuts and slices of mozzerella are a good snack also. good luck and your not alone:)
  2. Does anyone know why we arnt't supposed to drink coffee with caffeine? Im trying to get used to decaf but it has not been easy. I knew I was going to make sacrafices after LB however I am having a tough time especially because my work day starts at 6am and my morning commute with my coffee is just not the same.

My banding story! I did it!

Hi! I was banded on May 12th and today being the 27th I went on a 5 mile walk and just felt great! I am just learning how to blog and respond and I love that there is so much info on this site. I am so happy for you and your weight loss! Life has just begun huh? I have a question and don't know which forum to put it in but can you tell me how to attach my ticker to my profile? Any help would be greatly appreciated. My seminar weight was 245. Surgery weight 235 and as of today I weigh 220. I have to just walk walk walk. My first fill is not until July 24th and i am in the puree stage however I am finding that trying to stick to the liquids is easier for awhile. I do allow myself eggs with a little fat free mozzerella but I think I am afraid to start venturing into food again. Its what got me into trouble in the first place and by allowing myself more shakes and my soups and plenty of water I am doing okay. My port area is still sore but getting better. I feel my port under my skin, can you feel yours?
  4. When Doctor Bobbys office sent me home after informing me to lose 10 lbs prior to surgery, they sent me home with 2 weeks of products which included protein drinks, creamy tomato soup, creamy chicken soup, and chewable vitamins. I just had to buy the sugar free popsicles and sugar free pudding that I was allowed to have in between. This office totally sets you up for success and they do not want you to fail. By losing the 10 lbs ( and my weakness is quesadillas! But I stayed away from them.) you are proving to them that you can have some kind of disapline in your food habits and you are also proving to them just how bad you want this surgery! oh yeah, crystal light is my new drink of choice! Good luck to you in your losing 10 lbs. IT is not easy however, how bad do you want the surgery? Remember also if you can lose it then once you get banded it will only get easier! You won't be going into the kitchen starving and just wanting to put anything in your mouth to tame your hunger. You will only be eating because you know you have to nurish your body. You will actually have your chance to start (if you havent' already) reading labels. My rules that were told to me are 5 grams or less of sugar and fats and 70 grams of protein a day and 64 oz of liquids. Try the Dannon carb and sugar control yogurt. YUM. Before I close I just want you to know that I was always the last person to give out healthy food advice! Before looking into the surgery my breakfast at work was a chorizo and beans and egg burrito, my lunch was whatever the special was (usually high in carbs/fats) and snack after work was a quesadilla and dinner was usually fast food! So you see, I didn't always do the healthy talk. But I am now and it is actually fun!
  5. I am very happy with the outcome of my surgery. Yes, I am still sore where the port was placed but that was to be expected and my Great Dr. Bobby Bhasker-Rao, Md had explained that it would be. I felt like I was lying on the beaches of cancun when they rolled me into surgery. I feel that is because of the confidence I had with my A+ Doctor performing my procedure. Dr. Bobby also has a group of people who work with him that explained everything from my preop diet to my post op diet and everything else I need to know. They were so clear and precise and wanted to make sure I understood everything they were teaching me. I felt like I had a B.A. in Bariatrics Surgery after the seminar, consultation, nutrition class, and the support group. I have raised 2 successful sons, one is a 2007 graduate of West Point Military Academy and is a 2nd Lt. in the Army at the age of 24. My BABy is 23, He is a 2005 graduate of University Technical Institute and is a driveability Technician in Scottsdale Az. He is buying his first home in good year Az. My husband and I will be celebrating 25 yrs of marriage on July 30. and I want to wear a sexy red dress!!! My seminar weight was 245 and my pre op weight was 235 and one week after being banded it is 226. I want to just squeeze everyone and give out group hugs because I am so happy!
  6. I was just banded on May 12, 2008. Prior to my surgery my nutritionist had a list of stages and foods that were allowed. What stage are you in? I might be able to give you a list of what you can have. I am in stage III and able to have cream soup that was provided (tomato and cream of chicken) I just add 6 oz of hot water and its delicious. Also, I can have sugar free pudding, popsicles, crystal light flavors in my water and of course my protein drinks that were provided and they are 15 oz of protein each. I can also have Dannon carb and suger control yogurt. I do not feel as if I am missing out on anything. I just also received a recipe with four cheese mash potatoes and chicken broth and its the best potato soup! I am staying with around 70 grams of protein daily and 64 oz of water (liquids, crystal light). I am only allowed products that have 5 oz or less of fat and sugars. I really am paying attention to the fats and sugars!
