  1. Everyone is different..but I had my surgery at 9:30am and thought I would go home around 3:00 pm.....BUT..I was so nauseated that I ended up spending the night and going home the next morning. I'm so glad I spent the night too! I got IV fluids and vitamins as well as antibiotics. When I went home I was really ready to go home. Good luck with your surgery!
  2. Hi, My name is Nancy and I just got banded on Friday, Feb 6th. I thought it would be a "breeze"..in and out the same day..and was pretty shocked by how crummy I felt. I spent the night in the hospital suffering from a lot of nausea. I went home the next morning but I'm pretty swollen and sore although today is better than yesterday. I've had a lot of heart-burn which I never had previously. I'm being very careful to sip as I was a big gulper before. I guess it just takes some time to adjust to this new lifestyle. My doctor said to take some Mylanta which does help. Anyway, I'm excited to introduce myself and meet other folks on this journey!
  3. Hi Peaches, I got my band at Alvarado Hospital in San Diego. I'm glad you had a good experience in Mexcio. Fortunately, my insurance paid for everything....although they won't pay for the fills. Tomorrow is my 2 week anniversary. I feel really good now..most of my energy is back and I've been going to the gym before work. It took me a week to see how to reply to this so I probably am not the best technical advisor on how to add the ticker. Here is a site I went to that explained how to add the ticker: How to Put a TickerFactory.com Ticker in Your Post - Help Using the Forums - Forum Business - All Members Must Read the Brief Membership Instructions and Posting Guidelines - Diet & Weight Loss Forums Good luck and hope you are continuing to do well! 4. I was approved and then lost 37 lbs prior to my surgery. I was worried too but it was needless. Once I was approved the insurance agency never requested more information from my doctor.

Getting Banded in a Couple of Weeks

I don't really have any advice since I'm a newbie to banding but I will tell you that my BMI was 37 and I had high blood pressure, used a CPAP, and had borderline cholesteral (not on meds for it). Prior to my band I lost 37 lbs (lots of delays in the surgery schedule). Before I even had my surgery I was already off the CPAP and my blood pressure was 120/60...heck, not bad for a 52 year old overweight girl! I'm glad I had the band though...I have 26 years of history as a yo-yo dieter and this time I am not putting the weight back on and the band should be the perfect tool to help me succeed. Good luck and may all your medical issues resolve!

    Cookie Story

I was banded on 2/6 and last night I dreamt about doing the same thing..only I am still on the liquid only diet so I woke in a panic. Funny what our brains do to us! I have a ways to go on the liquid only but I am sure looking forward to having something with consistency!

    Newbie: Banded 2-2-09

Hi, I was banded on 2.6.09 and I keep dreaming that I accidentally eat something and then I wake up and WISH I could eat something! The cream of wheat I am fixing my husband looks so yummy. Is anyone suffering from heartburn? The heartburn and pain at the port site are really the only two side effects at this time. Even Water gives me heartburn so it's been really hard to get down the amount required. Good luck!
  8. I was just banded on Friday (Feb 6th) and had a terrible time with nausea from the anesthesia. My anesthesiologist was warned and took precautionary actions but I still had the problem. Every 6 hours I got a shot in my IV for nausea..it made me sleepy which was perfect. I ended up spending the night and they would just add more nausea meds to my IV during the night. The nurse advised me to try and drink a little (easier said than done) and put me on an IV drip (fluids and vitamins). She said if I got some liquids in me and then was able to urinate the anesthesia would leave my body sooner. I was able to munch on ice chips but I could not drink any liquids. She also told me to try and move around but I couldn't do that until the next morning. Good luck! I managed to NOT throw up but there were a couple of tense moments. I guess I just kept remembering that it would pass soon...and it did! :crying:
  9. Hi Peechez! I'm having a lot of gas too but I feel a lot better this morning so I am going to take a walk and see if that helps. I lost 37 lbs before surgery so we have that in common...I didn't really intend for that to happen but my surgery date moved 3 times. The lap-band surgery ended up being great timing becauase my weight drop was stalled but I figure this clear liquid diet will get the scale moving again! Good luck and keep me posted on your progress!
