It's probably worth speaking to your doctor about because while it may be nothing, it can also be the result of a more serious condition. Get it checked out for peace of mind!

What in the world? Do I have 2 stomachs?!
cris20495 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, I've graduated to soft-foods. Has anyone had the sense of eating, being full, and simultaneously feeling hunger pangs (not head hunger, actual hunger pangs?) It feels like I have a pouch which is working, and then a stomach below it, which is whining and raising holy hell at the same time. What's this about? Geesh. -

Rachelj788, we're sleeve sisters! Exactly the same date. Are you on soft foods yet? I have one more week to go until I can add chicken and tuna and I can't WAIT! -

Oh, I'm so happy to hear that. I thought maybe it was just me. I have an appointment with my surgeon on Friday and will try to remember to ask him about it then. if I learn anything I can share, I will. -
For some reason, while sitting in the allergist’s office, I Just realized that due to the size of my pouch, any buffet will be a silly choice. Ha! Hurrah! What “doh!” revelations have others had?

Thank you. That makes me feel better. Good luck to you too today! how'd you do today? I was surprised by how energetic I felt. Maybe all that time at home on the sofa was good for me and also maybe it was too boring, allowing me to over focus on every little inkling (to yawn, for instance). -

Angel Stew, I was fine for the first week, but have grown increasingly tired as the days wear on. I’m 12 days from surgery -and have been napping midday. I think this has to do w/calorie intake and healing. Also, according to my surgeon’s PA, the heat can impact tiredness as well. I’m going back to work tomorrow, too. But thankfully, I scheduled a very light week so if I need to go home or take a 5-minute cat nap, I can. Oh, I’m getting all fluids and protein in, sometimes more than the 64oz/grams they suggest. So, I really do think this is part of the healing for some of us. Good luck tomorrow!! -
Confessional - Lets post our cheats/confessions/etc so others can see that we are all human

I love this thread so much. This thread is everything! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. It makes a newbie like me feel normal and as if this is doable. \ Oh, and my cheat was on my pre-op diet (which was much easier than some of you had) I had a big ole brisket sandwich from the local BBQ joint--with broccoli casserole, etc. That was the worst of it, but not the only cheat. A hot damned mess, is what I was. So far post-surgery: completely on track and on task. -

For newly sleeved--why can some drink "normally" and others can't?
cris20495 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, Everyone. I've been following these boards and haven't been able to find an answer to the following: Why do some of us seem able to drink nearly normally very soon after surgery (days, even) and others cannot (or perhaps can never?). Does anyone know why such a large spectrum of experience regarding liquids? I was told in the hospital (and have read here) that liquids can't distend the pouch, so I'm not quite worried. But, I am perplexed. Thank you for sharing whatever you know. Cris -

Yes, Deedee12. It does. Thanks! -
Hi, Cheeseburgh. You've been so successful, which puts me a bit at ease. I already feel like I'm one of the "lucky ones." But, I'll take this bit of luck, too! Thanks.

^^ days not data.
-
I just don’t understand at all! I’m 6 data out and can chug water and protein shakes. It’s pretty worrisome since this doesn’t seem to be the norm. I’m glad you two are doing well and getting so many steps in!

The above. And, I'd also suggest an eye mask, pants with a very loose waist band since you won't know where the incisions will hit, slippers, earbuds and earphones. I brought a light robe with me, but wasn't able to put it on since I had an IV in my hand, which didn't allow me to put my arm through the sleeve. So, I might suggest a heavy wrap instead. What you really want to make sure of is that your backside is covered. They'll try to get you walking as soon as possible, and those robes are ridiculous. Phone charger brick. And, if you like watching things, a tablet of some sort that you can watch. However, I had someone watch my bag until I was back in the room. Chapstick is a must. And, something lovely (I brought Olay face clothes) to wash your face with. Good luck!

Day 3 stomach spasms--Yowza! Is this normal?
cris20495 replied to cris20495's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, Delfie. I estimate that I'm getting about 400 calories on this liquid diet as I'm drinking two shakes a day at 160 a day, so, actually, 320 calories. I'll try to go for a third, although I really don't want to. And, I'll reach out to my nutritionists. Thank you very much for your help and clarity! Cris. -
Day 3 stomach spasms--Yowza! Is this normal?
cris20495 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, Everyone. I underwent surgery on Tuesday and am now home and sipping and walking and so forth. But, when I sip (and honestly they are sips!), my stomach seizes and spasms. It always passes, I just don't know if this is "normal". As I said, the pass relatively quickly. But, it's an odd (uncomfortable) sensation. I'd say it happens after about 1oz of liquid. Sometimes less than that. It does not happen if I'm sipping constantly so it doesn't seem to be about "fullness." Also, I'm not feeling hunger at all, which i take to be related to the newness, healing, etc. So, I'm just checking in with folks who know more than I. Thanks, Cris -

Ugh! Thanks, delfie. This concerns me a little bit. I'll talk to the nutritionists at my doctor's office. I really don't want to faint while going about my day. Seems like I may need to stay home until at least I get to the soft food stage and can get a few more calories in me. How long did you stay on the liquid diet? My doc has me on it for 8 days. So, 6 more to go! -

Thanks, KT1981 and delfie. Did either of you feel lightheaded due to lack of nutrition on the post-op liquid diet? -

That's an incredible reddit post. Hilarious and problematic all at once! -
I’m scheduled to undergo surgery today at 10:30. Eek! I’ve been unwisely trolling these boards and now am full of a mix of relief and fear. At the moment the fear is winning out: what if I develop blood clots, what if something goes terribly wrong, blah blah. Sigh. I’m going to try to meditate and let it go. But...well...eek!
-
So far so good. The surgery went well, my surgeon said. I’m still in hospital, possibly heading home today. I’ve been sipping and walking. At the moment my only concern/discomfort is the gas, which is beyond unpleasant and seemingly unmovable! Thanks to you all for your encouragement!

Thank you, catwoman7 and brittanyatwalsh. I appreciate the encouragement and advice to walk!

Hello, Everyone. I'm completely new here (haven't even been trolling)! My surgery date is on Tuesday, June 25th. And, the path to get to surgery was relatively short. Years ago I had a lap band that we were never able to properly inflate because my system was so sensitive. So, it just stayed there, restricting a tad bit, being annoying--sort of like a surly underachieving teenager, capable of brilliant outcomes but totally lazing about. Like many, I've pulled weight off and gained weight again--for years. 50lbs here. 30lbs there. For a good while, I was quite healthy after one of those interludes and I hold that memory close and strongly. The decisions to again undergo weight loss surgery was precipitated by my sense that I was on a road that led to poor health outcomes no matter how I looked at them--blood pressure increasing to "normal" although my blood pressure is typically very low, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, pre-diabetes. So, I decided to nip things in the bud, get my health back, and take charge. So...that's why I am here. I don't tend to be a big group person. In fact, I'm something of a loner. But, in considering how my psychological, emotional, and tactical behaviors over the years have informed my weight and health, I thought: you'd better try something different, woman. And, there are a LOT of people in the world who know much more than you. Being in community with them would seem like the smart thing to do, which is why I'm here. I look forward to learning from you all. And, I appreciate you all. Warm Wishes, Cris

Thank you so much for this advice, Sosewsue61! I've been searching and searching for a therapist with whom to work, to no avail. But your advice cautions me to not give up. I'll double down on that because I think you're right. I have found the YouTube folks already and will continue to follow. I really appreciate the big take away and will heed your warning.
