    Mucus in stool

It's probably worth speaking to your doctor about because while it may be nothing, it can also be the result of a more serious condition. Get it checked out for peace of mind!

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

Rachelj788, we're sleeve sisters! Exactly the same date. Are you on soft foods yet? I have one more week to go until I can add chicken and tuna and I can't WAIT!
  3. Oh, I'm so happy to hear that. I thought maybe it was just me. I have an appointment with my surgeon on Friday and will try to remember to ask him about it then. if I learn anything I can share, I will.

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

Thank you. That makes me feel better. Good luck to you too today! how'd you do today? I was surprised by how energetic I felt. Maybe all that time at home on the sofa was good for me and also maybe it was too boring, allowing me to over focus on every little inkling (to yawn, for instance).
  5. For some reason, while sitting in the allergist’s office, I Just realized that due to the size of my pouch, any buffet will be a silly choice. Ha! Hurrah! What “doh!” revelations have others had?

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

Angel Stew, I was fine for the first week, but have grown increasingly tired as the days wear on. I’m 12 days from surgery -and have been napping midday. I think this has to do w/calorie intake and healing. Also, according to my surgeon’s PA, the heat can impact tiredness as well. I’m going back to work tomorrow, too. But thankfully, I scheduled a very light week so if I need to go home or take a 5-minute cat nap, I can. Oh, I’m getting all fluids and protein in, sometimes more than the 64oz/grams they suggest. So, I really do think this is part of the healing for some of us. Good luck tomorrow!!
  7. So, I've graduated to soft-foods. Has anyone had the sense of eating, being full, and simultaneously feeling hunger pangs (not head hunger, actual hunger pangs?) It feels like I have a pouch which is working, and then a stomach below it, which is whining and raising holy hell at the same time. What's this about? Geesh.
  8. I love this thread so much. This thread is everything! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. It makes a newbie like me feel normal and as if this is doable. \ Oh, and my cheat was on my pre-op diet (which was much easier than some of you had) I had a big ole brisket sandwich from the local BBQ joint--with broccoli casserole, etc. That was the worst of it, but not the only cheat. A hot damned mess, is what I was. So far post-surgery: completely on track and on task.

Hi, Cheeseburgh. You've been so successful, which puts me a bit at ease. I already feel like I'm one of the "lucky ones." But, I'll take this bit of luck, too! Thanks.
  11. Hello, Everyone. I've been following these boards and haven't been able to find an answer to the following: Why do some of us seem able to drink nearly normally very soon after surgery (days, even) and others cannot (or perhaps can never?). Does anyone know why such a large spectrum of experience regarding liquids? I was told in the hospital (and have read here) that liquids can't distend the pouch, so I'm not quite worried. But, I am perplexed. Thank you for sharing whatever you know. Cris

I just don’t understand at all! I’m 6 data out and can chug water and protein shakes. It’s pretty worrisome since this doesn’t seem to be the norm. I’m glad you two are doing well and getting so many steps in!

    Hospital Bag

The above. And, I'd also suggest an eye mask, pants with a very loose waist band since you won't know where the incisions will hit, slippers, earbuds and earphones. I brought a light robe with me, but wasn't able to put it on since I had an IV in my hand, which didn't allow me to put my arm through the sleeve. So, I might suggest a heavy wrap instead. What you really want to make sure of is that your backside is covered. They'll try to get you walking as soon as possible, and those robes are ridiculous. Phone charger brick. And, if you like watching things, a tablet of some sort that you can watch. However, I had someone watch my bag until I was back in the room. Chapstick is a must. And, something lovely (I brought Olay face clothes) to wash your face with. Good luck!
