I wish you luck. I had my surgery 9/17/19 @ 8am and was home by 9/18/19 @230pm. I didn't have any troubles with any pain. I'm getting down about 80 ounces of water a day and my three protein shakes. I usually eat 1/4 a cup of cottage cheese to but that fills me up. Feels like a Thanksgiving dinner full! I have only used children's Tylenol for the pain. I have not even used that for two days now. I was up and out of my bed about three hours after my surgery passing gas. We went for about 12 walks the day I was there. It helps with gas pain a lot! They also gave me chewable gas x which I keep on me now but have not had to use it beside the day I got out of the hospital. I was exhausted because I could not sleep in the hospital at all. Lol. Absolutely! I just got the call that the insurance company approved my surgery for 9/17/19. We scheduled it way out because my insurance wanted me to quit smoking for 6 months but would not approve it if I proved I hadn't smoked. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using BariatricPal mobile app

Like Mikeyy says get a second opinion as well. If you have to wait an extra month or two though what's really the big deal? I was originally scheduled got July 16th but insurance denied me because I had not quit smoking got 6 months. In understand my circumstance is way different then yours and I am not trying to compare ours. Only thing that is similar is I had to reschedule my surgery. I got it rescheduled for September 17th. On the bright side though it gave me an extra 2 months of reading and educating myself on head work and do's and don't's. It worked out better for me and now I'm going into this life changing surgery with even more research and education behind me. I hope this helps. I ended up doing the endoscopy because I have had heartburn and have been taking Omeprazole since I can remember. They said I could get the vsg (which I wanted) but they highly recommend for the RNY. It took a little while to convince me but it is the right choice for me. The egd was not bad. I highly recommend some sugar free popsicles waiting for you when you get home. Lol. My office wants me to do labs a couple weeks before to prove that I'm not smoking but the insurance company wants it to just be documented by a doctor's office for six months which is easy. I truly have not been smoking or vaping (using an e-cig) but in theory how are they supposed to really know without periodical checking? Congratulations and good luck! Keep us updated regardless.
