Somebody asked earlier about what people are eating now. I was banded on June 10 and am feeling wonderful! My planned eating today (according to Fitday.com---wonderful for tracking calories, Protein, etc.) is: 1 pkt instant cream of wheat, made very thin and add in 1 c. 1% milk, heated and splenda; tea, unsweetened, lots; 1 c. chicken better-than-bouillon; 1 slimfast chocolate shake; 1 Campbell's Soup at hand, creamy tomato; 1/2 sf jello; 1 sf popsicle. According to Fitday, this is 590 calories, and I'm comfortable with that. It sounds like a lot of food, huh? But I seem to always be drinking something...water, tea.... Tomorrow, I might try adding a beaten egg to a cup of bouillon to make egg drop soup. I think if I beat it up well and it is just slivers, that would work for full liquids...if not, I can use my immersion blender to make it work! Since I have been tracking what I eat, my calories have always been well under 600. If I have Protein shakes, the kind you blend, it ups the protein a lot! Is this pretty much what others are eating on full liquids? Thanks, Nancy

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Long, I haven't tried eggbeaters, but I was thinking about making some egg drop soup in a day or so. I love eggs (and luckily have very low cholesterol) and look forward to having them again. I don't think I can have scrambled eggs until I get to the soft food stage (and then yogurt for lunch---my favorite lunch!). My hernia incision is between my breasts and is taking a while to heal, but I am very thankful that my doctor found and repaired it! I'm long rid of all the glue (maybe my sponge is scratchier than yours! haha!), but the scabs on the port and the hernia incision are not yet ready to come off; the other 3 incisions are almost invisible now. Keep up the great work, everyone! Your success if infectious and I hope we all catch it and get healthy together! Nancy -

Thank you all for your informative, encouraging posts. I haven't had time to post much, but I read your posts every day and they inspire me! It's so nice to know there are other people like me, doing this well, and succeeding! This is the first time since the '80's that I have actually been able to lose any weight and I am thrilled, particularly since I have so much to lose. Thank goodness the band will help me keep the weight off that I lose. At my age, I KNOW this is my last chance to get healthy and I don't want to mess this up. My surgery was June 10th (Hi CathyChatts!), and I have been fortunate to have almost no pain, and just a little discomfort from gas. All that, and I had a huge hiatal hernia, too! At this point, I am still on liquids and am trying to branch out into more than just protein shakes. This morning I had 2 spoons of cream of wheat, cooked very thin, into which I added 1 cup of 1% milk and some Splenda....it took forever to eat (sort of like a creamy soup texture), and I am sooo full. That's a surprise, as I have not been hungry since before the Optifast phase before surgery, but I didn't expect to get so very full. I hope I didn't eat too much. I try to plan out my day's eating, i.e., protein shake for lunch and tomato soup for dinner, with as much water and tea as I can manage. I also walk every day, usually very early before it gets too hot. Once all my incisions heal (the hernia one is taking a bit longer), I plan to get back into the gym for aqua aerobics. Thanks everyone for helping me to stay motivated! Nancy -
Congratulations to everyone recently banded! I agree with susanm, in that I admire those of you going back to work so soon. I was banded on the 10th and am still very weak and lethargic. Work starts up on the 23rd, and I plan to add protein shakes to my clear liquids on that date, or I would not get through the day!

I was banded on the 10th and it went beautifully! I have already lost 8 pounds since the surgery---and it's only been 4 days! I'm not hungry on the clear liquid diet, and my incisions are healing well (a few are almost not noticeable already!), and I am thrilled with the weight loss, but I absolutely have no energy... I can't wait until I can have a Protein shake or something to perk me up! This band is the best thing I've ever done for myself....I only wish I'd done it 20 years ago! Nancy

I have a bit of bruising (surgery 6/10), but my most sensitive spot is the one between my breasts. The dr found a hiatal hernia and repaired it. That incision is way high and feels very warm and tender! I'm grateful that he repaired the hernia, but hope that heals soon so I can wear a bra comfortably. At least the scale finally went down a bit!

Cathychatts, and everyone already banded: congratulations on your success! Here's to a new and healthier life! I think you have misspelled my name on the list. My band is scheduled for the 10th and I am sooo looking forward to it! Good luck to everyone! Nancy

Nannypants, I had to laugh at your "gracefully hop off the floor"..... If I ever got on the floor, it would be because I fell and I would need help to get up. Graceful would never be part of the picture for me! Good luck everyone! Tuesday is just around the corner and I cannot wait! Nancy

My lap band is scheduled for June 10. So far, with 10 days on Optifast, I have lost 13 pounds, and 12 pounds in the 6 months before that, for a total of 25 pounds. I hope to lose a ton more with the band!

And I am also a teacher---ESE, K-5! I love the date because I have a few days after school ends on the 4th to rest, and nearly 2 weeks before summer school starts to get used to the band and get back into things. I am soooo looking forward to this. Since November, I have only lost 14 pounds and it has been hard going! I'm hoping that the band gets me jump-started to lose at a normal rate, especially since I have so much to lose!
