Hi bikerchick519, Thank you for the reply. What made you decide to go from a mgb to a full gastric bypass? -

Hi Nay143, how are you? I had the gastric sleeve surgery 2 months ago in June 2019. How is your progress going? Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -
@tldolphin777, I wish you all the best. I am a health professional myself and also work both in the OR and in a clinical setting treating patients. I did lots of research before I carefully chose Dr. Ariel Ortiz. Keep us all updated with how everything goes post OP with you. I am over 45 days post VSG and my experience so far has been fantastic. You will be in great hands, Dr. Ortiz did a fantastic job. He did my VSG on June 12, 2019. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Hi Sladley, the best thing you could have done is get your PCP on board, his/her support is imperative. Now the most important part of this surgery is finding a well know Dr. you can trust over there. I did months and months of research before I chose Dr. Ariel Ortiz, thank God both him and the outcome of my surgery came our fantastic. I also showed my family and friends were also scared like yours, but after I showed them all my surgeons reviews on Google reviews, Yelp and realself every went on board and started supporting. If your surgery goes well, you should be fine and will not need any additional surgeries or procedures once you come back to the USA. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

I think this picture will help visualize what he does. After he places the staples he uses a row of nylon sutures. He said the the staples eventually get loose and fall out will the nylon sutures will permanently stay intact to help reinforce the area. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Yes, my surgeon Dr. Ariel Ortiz at OCC in Mexico told me that he does the super sleave surgery (he invented himself), basically after he resects the stomach, he uses staples to close the incision area than he uses a row of nylon sutures (none absorbable sutures) to reinforce the same area. This helps reinforce the area to keep it intact longer. I am hoping this method also helps prevent long term stomach stretching out and ruining the sleeves results. I actually spoke to Dr. Ortiz today and he said that he is in the process of publishing a article on the Super Sleave. I got this surgery done by him on June 12, 2019 and my experience so far has been fantastic. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -

That's not bad statistics at all, very encouraging. When I started the pre OP diet I was 235 lbs, if I loose all the weight and only gain 5 to 10 lbs of the weight by 5 year or more I will be still so happy. To me that is still success. I am 5'9, my ideal weight to be is between 140-150 lbs. I hope I can make it to 140 lbs so I always have some room and dint freak out if I can a few pounds. I am very happy I met you on here, now we can compare our progress to one another. I wish us both lots of luck. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -

I am kind of confused how they are claiming that plication is a gastric sleeve rescue procedure. The long term weight loss is less. https://www.bariatric-surgery-source.com/gastric-plication-surgery.html#compare Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Oh my, I feel your pain. I never knew that occ does sleeve rescue. Gastric plication is it's own option, while in was there there was a young girl in her late teens that had come in to do the gastric plication surgery as opposed to the VSG. Do you know how much they charge for the plication surgery? Well when Dr. Ariel Ortiz told me that he does the super sleeve surgery (he invented himself) basically after he resects the stomach, he uses staples to close the incision area than he uses a row of nylon sutures to reinforce the same area. This helps reinforce the area to keep it intact longer. I am hoping this method also helps prevent long term stomach stretching out and ruining the sleeves results. Can you tell me what is the percentage of success stories as opposed to failures that you have seen on ooc Facebook page? Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Omg, I feel just like you. Can't stand protein shakes anymore. I just want to gag when I see it. I also have sneaked in a few pureed foods. I also am so nervous about this holding up for me. During my Skype consult with Dr. Ortiz, he told me that he does the super sleave. I don't do social media sites so I am not on occ Facebook page. So there are people on there that talk about their sleeve failing for them? Hearing this makes me even more nervous about this working for me too. Hi SLSH, sorry for the delay in reply. I somehow missed your post and just saw it. So we both had Dr. Ortiz do our VSG, that's fantastic. [emoji106] How is your recovery coming along? Hi Brittany, they put you on pureed foods already? Are you allowed to puree meat with rice and eat it ? Or is there a special list? They told me I can not start pureed food until day 18. As far as the pain, please call the Dr. Office and let them know. Hopefully they will know what it is and be able to help you. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Frustr8 I am so sorry your journey has been so complex and difficult. So you did not have the VGS, but I give you so much credit, you are so brave to do any type of bariatric surgery at the age of 73, you are victorious. Continue to carry the torch and stand strong.
