Arm lift next week - VERY UNPREPARED
brittanyatwalsh replied to LaLaDee's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hey, can I ask what your arms look like with the bandages off? I’m scared and nervous but looking into it. I had the lapband removed in 2018, sleeve in 2019 and lost 110lbs in a year. Well actually it was less than a year because I’ve remained the same for the past 8 months. My doctor said it’s not often that someone like me loses that much so easily (I worked hard!) ... but now all of this skin .... I weigh 165 at 5’4 and I’m still considered overweight. I am positive if I got rid of the skin I would lose at least 20lbs and be in the healthy range. Thanks for sharing your story. -
I’m 14 months out and down to 165lbs, 110lbs of weight loss. My boyfriend and I have been trying to conceive with no luck and it’s time for me to become more proactive and take prenatal vitamins. Any recommendations?

Bariatric Vitamins vs. Multivitamin vs. Prenatal
brittanyatwalsh replied to avrattebery's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Question- I’m a year and 2 months out, down to 165lbs which is 110lbs down, and my boyfriend and I are trying to conceive so far with no luck. What prenatal vitamins are you using? Thanks in advance. -
Hey! Looking for a Sleeve Sister or even brother to talk back and forth with! Here's a short story about me- I was banded in 2005 when I was 15 in Tijuana by Dr. Ortiz. Over 13 years, I lost about 70 lbs but by 2018 I had gained it all back. I found Dr. Udelhofen in Cincinnati, Ohio (working under Trace Curry) and he determined my band was slipped. I had no idea, but I believe it. So he removed my band in July of 2018 and initially I wanted to get the sleeve done the same day but decided against it. I didn't want to quit smoking and quit drinking. March/April 2019 I decided I wanted to go forth with it. I stopped smoking and decided to put my alcohol consumption on hold and here I am - 2 days post-sleeve! So far- I'm really not in pain. I feel nauseous more than I feel pain. Last night was terrible - I was in the shower taking off my dressings and got 2 of the 5 off when I felt really sick and dizzy. Thankfully, I'm staying with my parents currently since I'm single and I was able to get my Mom to help me out. But today I feel great. The only time I get any pain is when I'm sitting up out of the chair or getting out of bed. Speaking of bed, anyone else not able to sleep through the night? I typically am a side sleeper but I can only sleep on my back right now. So I'm up practically all night until I go to the chair to sleep. How long will this last for?! Anyone get hunger pains? I typically take a muscle spasm pill when my hunger pains start. Drinking 2 oz of powerade zero / water / protein water every 30 mins. Oh, since I'm new - How do I get one of those little goal tracker things you guys have at the bottom of your posts?~?~?

Anther protein DRINK question.....
brittanyatwalsh posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
First of all, I had my sleeve done on June 17. ----------------------------------------------------------------- The only time I feel restricted is when I drink a protein beverage (not a shake). I was drinking the Premier Protein clear drinks (purchased from Sams Club but I have seen them in other places) prior to surgery and mixed with water for 1 week after surgery. I had no issues. This past week, I drank some (not much) and I felt a horrible pain - I had mentioned it in one of my posts before, no clue where now. The only way I can describe the pain I had was the old cartoons where you see a hose and you can see a big bump of water trying to make it's way through the hose...That is how it felt. I had to stand, walk, spit a little, and do a sternum rub to feel better. Probably a day or two later I was sitting on my back porch and the same thing happened when I took a drink of a PROTEIN20 drink! I'm thinking to myself what is the problem here, I hadn't ate prior to it and I know darn well I didn't drink too much or too fast. So I just did my little walk and rub and after about an hour it went away. LAST NIGHT, I'm driving and I knew I was behind on my protein so I brought a Premier Protein to drink on the way to where I'm going. Literally ONE DRINK and I had the SAME issue. Again, I am not drinking fast or gulping. I'm thinking it's something IN these drinks that I cannot tolerate? I'm looking for suggestions on what it is, and what I should drink instead. I've had the Premier Protein Shakes but I haven't had an issue with those yet.... But that isn't really something I can take "out" with me, you know? A water-based consistency? By the way, this only happens when I drink those things. I'm on puree foods and am eating that fine- Cottage cheese, refried beans, scrambled eggs, chicken salad, tuna salad, etc. and I have no problems with other liquids I consume......... Looking forward to your responses......!!! Thanks for helping me out. -

brittanyatwalsh replied to brittanyatwalsh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
After I stood up and walked around and took a drink again I was fine. I must have just needed to let my drink settle and go down. Anyway, the place I got my sleeve done at does a 1 week clear liquids, 3 weeks puree. I'm allowed to puree meat. Right now I am eating a pureed meatball/spaghetti sauce (no noodles) leftover from dinner Sunday. No rice. They provided a list and generic recipes. When I had my one week visit yesterday (via phone conference, I don't actually go back to the office at all) I was actually told by the dietitian who also had it done that her go to for puree was Wendys chili pureed. -
Just when I thought I had no more questions - clear liquids question!!

I had no specifications but I also didn't even have a liquid pre-op diet! Lol.......... My pre-op diet was packaged food that I purchased from my office. -

Ok so quick question. Yesterday I was put on purée and permitted to eat some other things including the 1/3 cup runny scrambled egg I ate for breakfast from 645-7am. It was early that I ate and waited my 30 mins to take a drink of water. No issues. It is now 1030 and about an hour ago I am noticing difficulty well some minor pain swallowing my protein drink that is mixed with water (I mix it to get ahead on my water intake) .. it isn’t stomach pain , it is pain that I associated with when I had the band and I drank too fast. But I’m not drinking fast or large gulps? The pain is in my chest would be between my breasts, and it’s just like I can feel it moving down but... I dunno ? Anyone similar issue ??? I can’t associate it with the egg that went down with no problem because I had the egg over 2 hours prior... -
You got this! Just walk! Good Luck!

Lap band revision
brittanyatwalsh replied to DeeTee's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
My stomach was stretched due to complications with the band. It's all about how you use your tool. Don't overeat and don't drink with your food and it won't stretch. -
Lap band revision
brittanyatwalsh replied to DeeTee's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I was banded in 2005, had it removed July 2018, and sleeved June 2019. My band was slipped and I didn't know it. But I also didn't care. I had gained all my weight back and was eating with no difficulties. I could eat 6 pieces of pizza with no troubles. (MAN I miss pizza). So far so good. I'm only one week out with the sleeve though. -
@Knix200129 and @sm98444 Congrats ! I had my surgery just days before you both on June 17th. Today I am exactly one week out and have lost a total of 10 lbs from my surgery date, 25 since my initial pre-op appointment May 27 - Almost one month ago. I want to let you know what you're feeling is totally normal. Like Knix, I did not need pain pills and by 5 days later I felt superb. However, I had the hunger pangs. What I would do is take a muscle/spasm pill that they prescribed to me. It definitely stopped the hunger. Also, I gave up smoking! Maybe that's why I'm so angry the past few days, but I don't really have the urge to pick one up yet. Well, I mean I have the urge but it isn't THAT bad that I'm feening for it. Like SM, I am also a side/tummy sleeper. For the first 5 days I measured how well I was healing with how well I could sleep. Being forced to sleep on my back was horrible so I slept maybe 2 or 3 hours at a time for the first 2 days. At one point I was up at 3:30 AM e-mailing my doctor about why can't I sleep?! Finally by Friday night I slept 8 consecutive hours and was able to lay on my left side. Last night I was able to really get comfortable though! My one week appointment was virtual - Actually both my 1 week and 1 month are virtual. I don't have to go back and physically see my team. Crazy, right? Anyway, today I was allowed to begin my puree stage. It's not as bad as it sounds. My dietitian said I could puree Wendy's chili (wow?!) so I'm thinking I may end up living on that, tuna, and chicken salad for the next 3 weeks. I'm supposed to be getting in 80g of protein per day. She said to focus on getting in the protein, not to worry about calories or carbs. And today I've had maybe 50g of protein. I'm actually "late" to eat because I wanted to respond for yas! I'm struggling getting in my water, not because it's difficult but because I need to make myself drink. I'm not thirsty and I'm not hungry so why should I eat? So it's like... Set an alarm and just do it. That'll be my plan for tomorrow. Welcome to the club!

Shave.......... I didn't shave before surgery and I'm wishing I did now! Lol 7 days post op and I finally shaved my legs today. Shaving my right leg was harder than my left because of the bending on my stomach. -
