sending some positive energy your way, Buffie

Okay, don't you think that after enduring 15-20 years of obesity, endless sleepless nights, seeking out a surgeon and a relatively new weight-loss procedure, 3 WEEKS of opti-fast, abdominal surgery, not being able to eat, wondering if your doing aright........losing 38 pounds......that if someone noticed you have lost weight they would TELL YOU!!!!!! Apparently, not so. After whining to my family that I seem to be the only one able to tell that I've lost weight, they all said they noticed a different area of my body looking smaller....but were afraid to say anything.....Hmmmmmmmmmmmm:confused: ,

DrewsLou - sounds like your doing awesome. I havn't been out for dinner yet, but I can hardly wait. I used to order what I thought would be the biggest portion, but now I can order what I really feel like eating. That's cool. Don't be too hard on yourself, sounds like you have a lot going on, concentrate on yourself and getting your husband back home soon, then everything will fall into place. Take-care!

Your information is wonderful, I look up to all you pro-bandsters. I'm sorry to heat about your port, hope your doc can't clear that up for you. -
WTG!!! The gas pains for me about 2-3 days, but got a bit better every day. I took gasx whenever possible.
-
Kiana, no your not the only one!!! My doctor put me on 3 weeks of opti-fast diet. 3 gross shakes a day, nothing else!!! Now before you start to cry, as I did, let me tell you, It wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be. I had a harder time the week before I started it, worried, than I did once I was on it. That said... Day 1,2 and 3 are the worst, prepare for headaches. After that just keep remembering that it is only for a set amount of days only, and that it will make your surgery 100x easier for your doctor(it cleans away your liver) and your recovery! Trust me. Day 20 and 21 were a little harder cause you do get sick of it, but you have the excitment of getting your band soon to take your mind off of it. You'll do fine. You can PM me if you like. Good Luck!!

 I'm kinda confused. I know ultimately we should eat 1/2-1 cup of food. Now my surgeon says that he wants me to eat until I'm satisfied, so that if I gain weight or not lose weight then he knows it is time for a fill. That I'm to work on the quality part of my diet, and the band is to work on the quantity part. But I see that some of your docters are saying only to eat 1/2 -1 cup now. If you don't have much restriction yet then arn't you getting hungry? Or maybe your one of the lucky ones that will never need a fill. I'm curious to hear what you guys have been told or your point of view to what my surgeon has said.:grouphug:

Robyn, I'm just looking at your numbers. You've lost over 100 lbs since last August? Wow, Speak!....what are you eating?, how many fills to get it right?, excersizing? ...etc...I wanna know:) ! -
Ya, I guess now that I think about it, your right. My poor husband I'm sure dosent no what to say. For the past 19 years he has had to dance around the subject to protect my feelings, or in case he said the wrong thing, thus never getting sex again....lol.

Thats great Wheetsin:high5: !! How many fills have you had, if any. I don't think I'm going to do that good so quick, my hunger has returned with a vengence, and I'm not even on regular food yet. How was it for you, the last 3.5 months? Love to hear your journey thus far. -

Erin - I have a husband like yours, and I thank the heavens for him every day, were so lucky. Try taking your earrings off, or go get a hair cut, bet those scales go to 299.5!!!!!!!! -
Hi jc, I actually just got off the phone with my surgeons nutritionist and this is what she told me. Right now we are healing so eat foods that will be easy on your band. Don't worry about the weight, eat till your satisfied. When we start to eat soft food and regular food it is our job to pick quality, and the bands job to limit quantity. If you have to eat more then you think to be satisfied, then time will indicate that you will need a fill (about 2-3 weeks). That seemed to make it simple to understand. It also takes a bit of the pressure off of us.

NSV: Slimmed (not slimed) myself out of a store
CLOE replied to NewSho's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
way to go!!!! -
I hope this thread appeals to alot of you guys. I thought that alot of us have been interacting on this wonderfrul website, for support on our life altering band surgeries. We have leaned on each other for support, asked questions etc...etc...I was thinking it would be nice to have a thread were we can just talk...about anything (band related or not). A thread we can go to whenever, to discuss whatever. Areas we live, what we do for a living, children, dating, sex:eek: , day to day hardships, day to day excitement, WHATEVER. Eventually it would be nice to post some pictures, before and afters, pets, vacations, etc....What'd ya think?
