7 days till surgery! August 1
Jdymitc replied to lynest1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a sleeve surgery on 7/15. I was in the hospital 2 days. I did not need help but did not need any pain meds at all after coming home. I do have a no lifting more than 10lbs restriction for 6 weeks and also was not allowed to drive per my surgeon for a week after surgery. You may want to ask your practice what they recommend or what restrictions they will place on you to decide what help will be necessary. -
Cost of surgery -- WOW
Jdymitc replied to 2ndTimeFreedom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my sleeve on the 15th. The hospital submitted a little more than $19,000. I was in for 2 days. Haven’t seen a claim from the surgeon yet. -
July 2019 Surgery Siblings Post-Op
Jdymitc replied to Mom_of_Chaos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my sleeve done Monday only was supposed to stay one night blood pressure shot way high couldn’t get it under control 205/108. Kept me an additional day. Discharged with a blood pressure of 180/95. Pain was a 3 out of ten by Tuesday. At home Thursday blood sugar (prediabetic) kept dipping. Called my practice they told me to sip some juice and scheduled me to come in today Juice cleared up blood sugar issues. Blood pressure today was still high so starting some blood pressure meds till I get more weight off. Weighing in today was down 13lb from surgery day. Still having issues remembering to sip not gulp and not getting 60 protein but water I am good with. Walking not a problem except for the heat. Moved on to full liquid with surgeons blessing. -
Weight loss during nutrition counseling?
Jdymitc replied to Libby63's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had a BMI if 60.1 and before the 2 week pre-op I dropped 38lbs. I could have done more but I was also fighting an addiction to caffeine/soda so my nutritionist said focus on getting off that and we will worry about weight loss after surgery -
My husband had gastric bypass 15 years ago and he is still almost always cold. Today it was over 90 here and he still wore a jean jacket outside.

What was your moment?
Jdymitc replied to TattooedSeaStar's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So let me start by saying I am 44 turning 45 this year. My moment was when I was 17. I went to an extremely small high school 5 kids including me in my graduating class. My junior year when the other two girls in my class were looking at styles of dress for a function that was mandatory for us to attend I didn’t look right in what they choose so I looked very odd that night and was uncomfortable but by my senior year I was close to 280lbs i knew I need it. I graduated in June and got married to my husband in July and started to see what insurance would require when I found out I was pregnant with my oldest daughter. When she was 4 I told myself I’m going to do the surgery before she gets into school so I don’t embarrass her. I was over 300lbs by then. Ended up pregnant a second time. When the second baby was three months old I was in a horrible accident and was immobilized for 8 months but at home and surrounded by well meaning family and friends who were more than happy to cook me yummy fattening comfort food. Finally after about 5 years of physical therapy I could walk again normally and got back under 300. Husband and I both started the process to have gastric bypass. Found out my insurance wouldn’t cover me so husband got his surgery lost 250lbs and is still maintaining and I slowly started creeping back up again 5-10lbs per year. I’ve started and stopped again many times due to “life” (in reality I just don’t think I was ready to do the work needed). Last year my baby graduated high school and we were looking at her pictures and from my oldest’s high school and college picture and realized that while there are tons of pictures of them with every member of both sides of the family there really is only one with each of them with me hiding behind a bunch of other people so you can’t see my size. That was the final moment. My oldest got engaged this year and is planning on a 2021 wedding. I WILL be in those wedding pictures looking so much better than I did in MY graduation pictures. Next week I get my sleeve on the 15th, 25 years since my first “moment”. -
My surgery is the 15th. I told my nutritionist I was worried I’d cheat on the liquid diet (2 week) and they were able to accommodate me by changing mine up to allow a little food. However with that being said I have chosen to miss my family’s get togethers for the holiday because I was worried I would be to tempted. Feel free to message me if you need someone to talk to if you’re tempted to eat. You’re almost to your surgery date just have to stay strong a little longer.

July 15th sleeve -
Mine is the 15th also. I’m supposed to start my 2 week liver shrinking diet on this coming Monday. I think I’m more nervous about the next two weeks than I am about the actual surgery. Do you have a pre-surgery diet to follow?

Just got my date July 15th. So excited 😆!!

I had no idea who to use for mine so I asked my surgeon if they had someone they worked with. He gave me three referrals and I was able to schedule an appointment from there. (Just an idea if you haven’t already tried that)

So I got my insurance approval and am waiting on my final nutritionist consult where they review the 2 week diet. I’m really concerned about this phase. How did you get through your days at work not wanting to turn into a terror on people. I like the sensation of eating so this whole idea of nothing but liquid is worrying me that I’m gonna end up in jail for smacking someone. Please help me overcome this panicking feeling I’ve got going on.
