April 2020
Repeatingthoughts replied to Repeatingthoughts's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some updates that Will definitely delay surgery for me. Our governor Coumo reports that this health crisis will go on for months. Seems like there is no way on earth I’ll have surgery in May or June. I am looking at perhaps July. I began my journey in July 2019. I am hoping we all stay safe and healthy. Wishing positive vibes to you all. Xoxoxo -

Repeatingthoughts replied to Repeatingthoughts's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi it’s.time. My surgery was cancelled and it will be TBD. It was schedule for April 9 and let’s say your surgery is set for 4-16 and they resume surgery, yours would be pushed back and the March folks will get surgery . The coordinator also told me that everyone will be 2 weeks behind. If things resolve I might have my surgery in May or June. It also all depends if people want to wait it out. Who knows. This might be a scheduling mess. -
How long a postponement?
Repeatingthoughts replied to It's time.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgical coordinator told me it’s week to week. However, she said that more than likely it will be a May to June situation. I was scheduled for April 9 and clearly that’s not happening. S -

Welcome all my April surgery mates! I don’t know if I have a preop diet yet. I go to my pre-op class in 2 weeks. I will also get the paper work needed for my medical clearance. So nervous about the insurance approval process. I have a BMI lower than 40 but i do have mild sleep apnea and high blood pressure. -

Hello. How is everyone doing? My surgery has changed from 4/16 to 4/9. as of today, I am scheduled for RNY but my gut keeps telling me to go for the DS. Ahh decisions. I've lost 17 lbs since 1/1/2020. However, I was told to stop because my BMI is on the lower end (pros of being tall). I do have sleep apnea and hypertension . -

NYC DOE Teachers - Having or Have Had Sleeve Surgery
Repeatingthoughts replied to newyorklady20's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there. I work for DOE too. I however, have the HIP prime. I Am having a revision. You aren’t going to die. The medical field has made great stride. What surgeon are you meeting with? Each program require a different things. Emblem health who covers ghi and hip doesn’t require the 6 months visits anymore (stopped last year) that is what certain programs want. They want to be able to see that you are committed to this. also if you’re afraid of acid reflux I will highly consider doing your research on the sleeve and GERD. I know of a few people at my program who revised from the sleeve to RNY due to developing gerd after the sleeve. -

What's your approval process?
Repeatingthoughts replied to jlb8080's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My process changed due to a health insurance change. So I now have to go back to my PCP Next week for a formal referral and pre approval before I go back to my surgeon next month. My insurance doesn’t ask for a weight management history or monthly check ins, they just want it to be a medical necessity. -

Hi everyone and congrats to everyone enduring this process!! We are all brave and strong! I am feeling some anxiety surrounding the Insurance process. I know it will all work out as I am confident in my Bariatric program and their efforts. I am looking forward to having much more confidence during the holiday 2020 season! I loooove Christmas I also want to be able to fit into my old clothes which I never tossed away. Most of all, I want to get back into running which helps so much with my anxiety.
