    What's for Dinner Tonight?

I don't typically measure my food. I just eat until I am full. It averages to about 1/2 cup of food, sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less (eggs). I have been steadily losing. I had stalled a bit when I went to mushies but picked back up again when I had my first fill and moved to solids. The one big change is that I ramped up my Protein intake with a shake every morning and every evening. The scales are moving again now. I wonder if I was not getting enough calories and it had caused me to stall. Tonight, we went out for Mexican and I had a bit of cheese smothered chicken and steak, a few chips and salsa, and Water with lemon and lime. I shared with my husband who ate the bulk of the meal. I have been eating an egg or two at some point during the day with a bit of salsa and sour cream added. I also went to McDonald's the other day and ordered a four piece chicken nugget and small fry. I ate 2 chicken nuggets and about three fries and was full. I had the rest for lunch the next day. I am just careful with how much I eat but pretty much am eating like everyone else now with a smaller portion.
  5. I started a new spreadsheet for all the Notorious Novembers. The post is in the November 2008 monthly forum board. I have everyone updated so far. I will try to update at least once per week. Here is the link to the sheet below. Notorious Novembers 2008 Weightloss Spreadsheet - Google Docs
  6. I started a new spreadsheet for us. The link is below. I also started a new post under the November 2008 board. Please post your weight there and I will get it updated. I will be sure to do it at least once a week. Notorious Novembers 2008 Weightloss Spreadsheet - Google Docs Everyone is updated to this point.
  7. Also, fat free refried beans and I added a bit of mild salsa, sour cream, and low fat Mexican cheese. Very yummy and filling. Personally, I think if you get back on track, you will probably be okay BUT should call your doctor to be safe.

    Swallowing problems

You still probably have a lot of swelling in there. It will get better with time. I have very good restriction and I only have little over 1cc in a band that can hold around 11cc. I have to be very careful when I eat or I can't get it down. Some people just seem to have more swelling and earlier restriction than others.

    First Post Op Problem

I agree with Wasa and I think Mindy did have every right to clarify her position. I think she is only looking out for the best interest of the poster and I think she also said she was having trouble with her computer. As for the original poster, it is so hard on here because every doctor does things differently. I had my first fill at four weeks. I have heard most doctors do not typically do the first fill until six or eight. My diet has also varied from a lot of others. I think each doctor feels differently about what should be done when and we need to remember the one important part of this site and that is that 98% of us are all just patients. We can come here for some support but, when it comes down to it, we need to remember that our doctor is the one who sees us, who operated on us, and who is there to take care of us. Always listen to your doctor and be sure not to compare yourself to everyone on here. You will never find an exact replica of you on here. Do what your doctor says BUT, if for some reason you ever lose faith in him/her, find a new doctor. Just remember, we are not doctors. I read a post the other day where a woman had surgery and was on solids TWO days after surgery. My chin about dropped to the floor but she is eating carefully and doing what her doctor told her.
  10. Current weight: 217. Thanks Froggi!
  11. Okay, an update from me. I have only a little over 1 cc in a band that will hold 11 cc. I have awesome restriction and am continuing to lose. I am on solids now and doing pretty well. I have to start the day with liquid, preferably cold -- weird, I know -- to get my band "open." I usually cannot eat solid food for another couple of hours and only a little bit once that I can eat. I get about 3-5 baby spoon bites in and I am done. I have been concentrating on getting my Protein in first and then veggies after that. I finally recovered from my crazy first fill and am really happy with my band so far. I have a great doctor and am glad he is there and available to help out when needed. Makes me feel safe. I am having Italian deer for supper with a cracker or two and green Beans. I ought to be good and done after that and set until tomorrow. Thank God for all the hunters in my family! They keep my freezer full! (Snow plows and salt/sand trucks are in full force outside. I am warm and cozy inside.)
  12. It sounds like you are too tight or too swollen. I have big issues with swelling (as we just found out). I would try a couple of days of liquids, then a couple of days of mushies, and then try solids again and see what happens. It will give time for any swelling to go down.
  13. The Beans will make you gassy. Added with PMS, you will get pain. I agree about lower back pain and Water being the solution. I have been dealing with that one, myself. Working on getting more water in as I type. It doesn't really sound to be like anything is wrong. I think it is just your body still adjusting. Each time I eat it is a whole new experience. I never know what to expect.
  14. I was on Clear Liquids for the first week, full liquids for the second week, mushies the third and fourth week and am now going to soft solids. It varies from doctor to doctor. Just be sure you are doing what you doctor wants and you will be ok.
  15. I went in for my first fill yesterday. The first amount added was definately too tight so my doc (who has been awesome though all of this) removed some until I was comfortable. I left and headed home. About half way home, I started to burp up all the Water I had drank. Since my doc's office was closed by that time, I continued home. Throughout the evening, I continued to burp up everything including my own saliva. I finally called my doctor's answering service and got the doctor on call. He called the ER and I headed off to the hospital (45 minutes away and this was 10:00 at night by this point). I got to the hospital and found that the on call doctor had does not do the band and did not know actually what he was doing since it was not his procedure. The ER doc was equally unknowledgable about what to do. They did try to stick me a number of time with a SHORT non-coring needle but were unsuccessful. FINALLY, at 1:00 in the morning, they called my doc at home. He came in (the poor guy had a long drive, like me, and also set the alarm system off in his office building trying to get the proper needle) and easily removed another cc from my band. I could easily get water down at that point. Upon reaching home, I could not get water down again but, with all that was going on, did not worry too much at that point. Figured it was just swelling from the problems of the day. Upon waking earlier this morning, I could still not keep fluids down but still had not panicked due to some swelling and the warning of a tight band in the mornings. I did burp up what looked to be brown blood, pink blood, and saliva. I went back to sleep and woke about 30 minutes ago (early afternoon - I was up most of the night) and am sipping some warm chicken broth. So far, so good. I still feel like I have a bit of a "lump" in my throat but am still attributing that to some swelling. I have some mild burping but am not burping up the Fluid like I was last night and this morning. Am praying this continues to be the case. I am sipping very slow but it seems to be working. I don't have that "Oh no, here it comes!" feeling so far. I am about 6 pounds lighter than I was at this time yesterday. I figure this is due to fluid loss and am not counting it on my ticker. I feel like I have been hit by a very large, very fast truck. Has anyone else been down this road and do you have any tips to offer? Anything would be welcome.
  16. Yea. I think I am going to try to schedule a late morning adjustment that way I will have all afternoon to have problems.....God forbid it all happens again.
  17. Hang in there. You are doing awesome already. I know what you mean about being impatient. I am SOOOOOOO impatient. You will get there soon and then be on your way to losing again. I don't think the Peanut Butter will be bad as long as you don't abuse it. Once you get a really restrictive fill, you may have to stop because it may get stuck. That would be one way to kick the habit.
  18. I have been sleeping on my stomach since about one week post-op. My doc said whenever it was comfortable for me. I have never really had any trouble with it. I have also been having sex since a few days post-op. That was just a matter of changing position a bit to where I was comfortable.
  19. My first fill (3 cc) did not go well. I had a lot of swelling and had to have part of it removed. I am just now recovering from the dehydration. My doc feels my stomach is just very sensitive. I have just over 1 cc in my band but am doing well with that so far. I have good restriction and can not eat much. I am still losing weight so I am not complaining! I go for my next attempt at a fill right around the beginning of the New Year.
  20. Oh, I've been in touch with my surgeon and I am keeping in touch with him through this. As much as I love forums and the valuable information that can be taken from here, nothing can replace my surgeon. The bleeding is gone now and my doc feels it was from the massive amount of burping everything up. He feels it was up higher in my throat. The brown pee is obviously dehydration and I am still peeing it. Figuring that will resolve in the next day or so. I have been able to get a lot of liquids in today and am definately on the mend. Thank you so much for looking out for me though. That is why I love this site.
  21. Current weight: 217.5! Thanks Froggi!
  22. Thanks. It is good to know that I am finally getting into the normal range. I am still peeing brown (have been all day) but am getting more and more fluids in as the day goes on. I have even had some runny mashed potatoes with gravy. Feels good to get on track.
  23. Ok, two days later and no blood now. I kept down about 3/4 of a small can of chicken broth yesterday. Then nothing else. This morning, so far, I have kept down little over a cup of Water, a TBSP of vanilla pudding, and about 2 TBSP of very thin mashed potatoes and gravy. I think I may be on the mend. Guessing I had some massive swelling? Or is this normal after a fill?
  24. Current weight: 220. Thanks, Froggi!
