Maintaining Healthy Eating Habits During a Crisis
Cuppa replied to Warren L. Huberman PhD.'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you for this information and insight into the challenges one can face when in the midst of crisis. -
I can only drink about four ounces at a time. Don't really want to push it into a situation where it's too much

Protein shakes for picky protein drinkers
Cuppa replied to branlee90's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I like the Orgain brand organic protein shakes. They come in chocolat and vanilla and are 26g protein with 3g net carbs. -
You know, I never even considered the possibility of feeling colder as the weight comes off! LOL It wasn't mentioned in any of my literature I got from the surgeon. But it is so true! I sat outside for a few hours yesterday in mid-90 degree temperatures and wasn't sweating my a$$ off! It's actually a lovely thing to not constantly feel overwarm everywhere I go. Bring on the sweaters/blankets!!

how often did you feel buyers remorse having the surgery
Cuppa replied to johnedwin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I will simply echo others that have responded to this post. The first week is always tough and you much understand that you just went through surgery! Unfortunately, you can't just bounce right up and be 100% healed the next day. Cut yourself some slack and realise your body is now set about the task of healing and figuring out how to unlearn what it has learned over the years. I still have issues a month out from surgery, where my body reminds me to slow down eating or to pay attention to the new cues I have that tell me enough is enough! Walking has become my new best friend and it's an awesome start to being active for the rest of my life. Please be assured that each day, your body is adjusting to the new anatomy and it will get easier-- I promise you. But to answer your question about regret..... NEVER! -

Good luck and speedy recovery to you! See you on the losers' bench -
How many calories do you eat a day?
Cuppa replied to april042019's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am so glad you made this post! I was wondering about my own caloric intake and if it was enough. I'm averaging just over 500/day. I know most surgeons tell you to eat every four hours but frankly I'm not hungry enough to do that! To me, eating when I'm not hungry is what got me into trouble in the first place!😀 -
Congratulations and welcome to 'the other side' LOL

Anyone else hiccup when they are full?
Cuppa replied to Sleeved in DFW :-)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes I get the hiccups, yes. Most often, if I get a pressure in my chest, that's my ultimate warning sign to stop! I must admit, the latter happens if I'm not paying attention and eat too fast >_> I'm less than a month out, so I'm still learning these new cues😉 -
For puree, I've depended on several things. Soups are an option and the nutritionist told me Cincinnati-style chili is also acceptable, if you're a fan One thing I did was take tinned chicken (broth and all), pureed it with a hand blender. I portioned out about a half cup then added a tablespoon of instant potatoes and a tablespoon of chicken gravy. Chucked it in the microwave and slowly ate. Reminded me of Thanksgiving LOL I do opt for a few tinned veg, just for some fibre (and you really don't need to puree them, as they're already pretty mushy)-- carrots, peas and green beans, mostly. I've read that several people have had refried beans with success but I haven't tried that yet. For breakfast, it's almost always a protein shake; with the occasional serving of porridge made with a vanilla protein shake instead of milk

Hello! I was sleeved by Dr. Curry on 30 May! The first night was alright but, like you, I had to sleep in a power recliner. Tried to lay down in a bed and it was very uncomfortable, no matter what position! The recliner was pretty comfy, but I found that having a pillow on my stomach helped when I would have to stand up. I was very sleepy, so I was kind of drifting in and out all day/night. I didn't have any hunger pangs-- just spasming whenever I would drink something but the spasms eased for me by the time I went to my 1 week follow-up. The nausea stuck with me for a few days and I figured it was because everything's rather newish ^_~ I'm glad to read that you're keeping up with you water! Are you moving about as well? Even if it's just around the house at first, please remember to move; it helps with so much! Congratulations and Enjoy the Journey! 😊

Sounds like you're doing very well so early in the game. One piece of advise I'll give is start walking straightaway, if you haven't already. Even if it's short distances a couple of times a day. It helps so much and you'll be able to increase distance a little bit each time. Glad to meet another newbie

Good luck! You needed that time to ensure the surgery was right for you. That is SO important and will strengthen your resolve going forward. I had a three-week pre-op diet and there were times it was a struggle. Just look at it as bonus pounds you won't have to lose post-op

I haven't tried the egg salad but will this weekend! I really liked taking tinned chicken (broth and all) pureed with my hand blender, adding a tablespoon of instant potato flakes and a tablespoon of chicken gravy. Portion out what you can comfortly tolerate. Reminded me a bit of Thanksgiving! lol

I, like others here, start my day with a protein shake that I drink in about 15-20 minutes. I like the Orgain whey protein drinks-- 26g of protein and clean ingredients 😊
