liquids---suggestions
salwa replied to CanHardlyWait's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Canhardlywait After my surgery I wanted liquids that I made at home you know just to avoid preservatives, so I squeezed fresh fruits. Also my favourite soup was cream of vegetables. basically you boil -1 potato 1 onion 1 carrot and watever other vegetables you like- in approximately 1 liter, when they start to boil you add 1 cube of your favourite stock. (make sure you dont put too much water.) when all the vegies are tender, put everything in the blender and mix it until it looks like baby food. then you take how much you want to have and add milk stir it well it has a creamy vegetable taste to it. I was told to add 1 cup of milk to 1 cup of soup, but you can do watever you want. Add salt depending on taste. I lived on this soup for a while because I had complications I added vegetables like spinach, zucchini, garlic, ofcorse not all at once. You can freeze it and defrost it later it was a great backup for me. Good luck -
Hi angiewiu I had the same problem, my doc said my band had slipped and I had another surgery to fix it but ever since they fixed it I gained 15 pounds. Be careful and try to maintain the weight you are at. good luck

Hi all I'm 22 and I was banded 3 years ago I was 176 pounds and lost up to 66 pounds but currently I have put back 22 pounds. I don't know where to start with my experience with this little monster. There are days when I love it and I thank God a million times for making this decision. But there are other days when I just want to get rid of it. The only complication I am currently facing is acid reflux. I wake up at night feeling like my esophagus is on fire. Salwa:wink:

Where is you port located in relation to the insertion site?
salwa replied to mommakatx2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost all the weight I wanted to loose and a little more than that too. I can feel my port its right under the incision. At first its disgusting but now I'm used to it. When I lost too much weight due to a prolonged period of over tightening, I could see it. It made me sick it stuck right out you didn't need to feel it to know where it was. Now I gained a bit of weight and I can't see it but I can always feel it. -

I didn't mean to get you mad. what I was trying to say is that although my doc said clear liquids for 3 weeks, I couldnt stand it so I had soup! i watered it down with milk. and it was fine. do you have trouble with water? because when I was at that stage I found milk felt so much better than water (soothier). -
hey Melissa I am a wuss too, I've been getting fills and unfills for the last 3 years. It hurt me but I survived and so will you! Just be strong and breath. It is my worst part of the whole thing cuz I'm scared of needles! good luck

Hey Willsmommy My doc gave me a book to help for after the surgery about everything from eating to exercising. The point is that I couldnt stay on just juices and milk and Water, I needed sumthing that tasted like food so i made cream of vegetable Soup but i thinned it out as much as i could. it helped alot. I still eat it somedays when I feel that my stomache is irritated. I was banded 3 years ago the pain goes away, you will be able to burp later on and the gas is just for the first couple of weeks. You probably will not regret it later on. Dont drink right before you sleep.
