    Alcohol ?

Last night, after discovering that our movie was sold out, me & my friends decided to hit up a bar to see a couple of live bands play. This is the first time I've been in a bar since I was banded (on 5/29). My 1st reflex was to order a beer, but I froze in my tracks! I realized that beer was now off limits! My 2nd instinct was to order my beer back-up, a rum & Coke...ah CRAP!!! No Coke either! After a brief panic, I decided that it's the hard stuff or nothing. I ordered a Wild Turkey straight up on the rocks. I totally forgot what straight bourbon tasted like. When I took the 1st sip, my face shriveled up like when you suck a lemon. "Uh, this is terrible," I thought. After about three of those, I began to adapt to the taste. Then came the tequila shots...& some more Wild Turkey. I eventually got sloppy drunk! I'm not sure if it was from not having any real food in me belly or from drinking the "hard" stuff, or both. All I know is that I feel terrible today! (stomach is all gassy, too) I'll have to get used to putting away the hard stuff from now on & suffer the dangerous surly consequences or just safely stick to my other recreational habit. (see the "Marijuana Use After Surgery " thread in this forum.)
  4. Does anyone know if rice is considered a mushy food? (if cooked, of course)
  5. Ahhhh...this forum saves my life again!! I just started mushies today, so I checked this thread. After weeks of liquids, I just had some shaved deli ham! It was amazing!!!! I think I wet myself, It was soooo good!!! :rolleyes2:(Yes, I chewed it about 15 times before it went down the hatch)
  6. Addiction is what got me in trouble in the 1st place. Addiction for pizza, lasagna, & cookie dough!! I don't think it's possible to be addicted to marijuana. It doesn't have the same chemical effect on the body that drugs like cocaine, heroin, & tobacco have. Those drugs cause you to become chemically dependent. Marijuana is a recreational herb that you can use from time to time whenever needed. (it's an HERB!) Alcohol is much more dangerous! Drinking is like smashing your sense of balance & decision making skills with a cinder block!!! There are hundreds of thousands of deaths related to this "legal" drug every year compared to zero deaths linked to marijuana. What's really scary is the fact that almost 40,000 folks in the US died last year due to improper use of doctor prescribed drugs. One day I hope medicinal marijuana will be accessible to all 50 states. And no, I doubt anyone is token their herb in front of children. We're not crack-heads. You can smoke weed & still be an active, responsible member of society. You'd be surprised by how people are actually smoking pot in this country these days.
  7. Thanks for this thread! I found this forum 2 days after I was banded (5/29). I actually had to get my BMI down before I was eligible to have this surgery. Thanks to MJ, I was able to force myself to aerobicly burn off the access weight. I can physically push myself farther when I'm high. Thanks to weed I lost about 50 lbs. in 2 months, before even being banded!!

    Amaze Rx.....anyone heard of it?

I'm having lap-band surgery on 5/29. My doctor suggested Amaze RX until then to reduce the size of my liver & to reduce the fat around the organs. Apparently doctors have to go around the liver to install the band. I've been using the Amaze RX since last Tuesday (5/6) & I've lost six pounds since. I'm not accusing it of being a laxative, but it does affect the digestive system, if you know I mean. All I'm saying is make sure all restrooms are mapped out just in case. (more important than fire exits unless that's your style?)
