Hello, My name is Misti! I am in the beginning stages of this journey. I literally just got my referral from my PCP today sent over to uf & shands gastric surgeon team. I was a little nervous about talking about it and asking for it to begin with,but she was so supportive and told me to let her know if there was anything on her end she could do to help the process afterwards and to follow up after seeing the team. A little bit about myself i'm a mother of 6, which 3 are disabled. 2 of my girls were born with cleft lip and palate and one of them also has heart problems and the other has seizures. My son is also disabled we actually just got his dio this year. He has speech apraxia and also Asperger's. He was basically completely non verbal until this year. I am currently 213lbs and my goal weight is 145. I have been doing a lot of research and im just hoping I can get approved as I have Medicaid (wellcare)  my BMI is high enough (over 35) im worried about the extra stuff as I dont have any that are listed for approval, I may have sleep apnea but I still need a asleep study to find out.The only things I have are the follow, depression, auto immune, genetics ( mom had bypass), gallbladder removed and ankle pain. I'm just praying that this will be enough for approval, when I called and talked to my insurance and asked what the req were she said as long as the doctor says its medically ness it would be approved. Im not sure how true that is but i'm hoping so. I will continue to keep a blog of the process and if anyone has any insight please feel free to share, God Bless - Misti   June 5,2019
