What Would You Do?
kristieshannon replied to kc892020's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every surgeon has different restrictions/requirements. From nearly day one I’ve had a cold brew every morning as well as 2-3 cups of caffeinated tea each day. My surgeon has no problem with this as long as I also drink my water each day. The caffeine is highly unlikely to have been the source of your bleeding. I’m glad you’re on the mend now! -
When Did You Stop Wearing "BIG" Clothes?
kristieshannon replied to Machalo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m getting rid of things as they get too big and replacing them along the way. I’ve bought a lot of jeans at Costco-did you know they carry Calvin Klein and other designer jeans! Less than $20 a pair makes it affordable for me to buy things I won’t be wearing for long. -
I like the Premier Cookies & Cream so much better than the regular chocolate. I mix it with a Starbucks nitro cold brew every morning for breakfast.

Oops, forgot the pics and can’t figure out how to edit my original post.

Yay for Friday! Had my 6 month follow up with my surgeon yesterday. BP was 113/60 and resting heart rate 56! Off all meds now except vitamins. 90.5 lbs down as of this morning. I’m heading to Mexico in less than 3 weeks to celebrate my one year wedding anniversary with my husband. Although I’m not where I want to be yet, I’m going to feel such more confident in my swim suit and summer dresses this year!

@AngieBear I LOVE that suede jacket and finding it at a thrift store is such a bonus! @AnewAngela a 5K and a half marathon in one weekend? Impressive, and you looked great doing it! I love your running pants!

I love dots almost as much as I love stripes. Probably my last time wearing this top though, it’s getting too big. A good problem to have! I’m off to my 6 month follow up with my surgeon and nutritionist today and am excited to show them my progress. 37 lbs to goal as of this morning!
-
Thank you! I ❤️ stripes nearly as much as I love a good bargain :)

I had my VSG in August of 2019. Overall I’m thrilled, I’m approaching 90lbs down. I’ve got more energy and am running at the gym 4-5 nights per week. However, I’ve had repeated colds since surgery. I’m a nurse in a large public health hospital. Due to this over the years I’ve developed a pretty iron clad immune system, rarely getting sick prior to surgery. I take my vitamins every day, drink my water, get in 75-85 grams of protein daily and add in as many veggies and a little fruit as I can. I see my Dr. for my six month follow up later this week and will ask about it, but I wonder if anyone else has experienced this. I average about 750 calories per day. I wonder if the big deficit is leading to a decrease in immune ability.

I’ve been lurking here daily, decided to join in. Not a fabulous outfit, but super comfy. The big deal for me is this top is a size MEDIUM! Old Navy, and got it off the clearance rack for $5.99. Size 14 jeans. I haven’t seen these sizes on myself since high school!

Help, I am Hungry!!

Do you have Pho restaurants in your area? The most satisfying thing to me while I was on liquids only was beef Pho broth. Warm, yummy, and helped me make it through that stage. -
Onederland! What a great feeling!

Thank you everyone 😊 This is my lowest weight that I can remember as an adult. 39.9 lbs to go until (what I think is) my goal, although that number may be re-evaluated once I get there. I’m very excited for my six month follow up visit with my surgeon next week to go over my lab results and progress. -
Try senna or milk of magnesia.

You can lift weights to tone your arm muscles, and after you hit goal you may see some slight forming up over time. However, surgery is the only way to get rid of the extra skin post massive weight loss.

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE ISSUE WITH CARBONATED DRINKS??? & other questions!
kristieshannon replied to New&Improved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the occasional sip of my husbands Coke Zero, but don’t do it on a regular basis. No issues with the small amount I have. -
I don’t like plain water either. I drink vitamin water zero.

SuperBowl food

I don’t see people here making excuses to eat junk-I see people making good plans to stay with healthy stuff during a real life situation. Good job to those planning ahead to stay on track! We’ll have a veggie tray, deli meat tray, and cheese tray that I’m planning to pick from at our party. Maybe a couple pieces of fruit too. And I’m stocking up on vitamin water zero as well, but will fit in a glass of wine by running on the treadmill in the morning before the party. -
PS out of the country? Comparing costs/services
kristieshannon posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hello- I've lost 80 lbs with another 40 to go til goal. I'm saving up for all the plastic surgery I'm going to want/need, which will include a lower body lift, breast lift, and arm lift. I live just north of Seattle. My insurance will pay for a panniculectomy only, so most of the costs will be out of pocket. I'm considering getting this done out of the country to save on costs, but don't love the idea of flying soon after surgery. I'm considering Vancouver, BC because it is only a 2 hour drive away. Has anyone priced PS in Canada? I imagine the cost might be similar, but there may be savings with our favorable exchange rate. I'd love to hear of anyone who has had their PS in Canada, specifically about cost. Also, if anyone has had PS in Vancouver I'd love recommendations for a surgeon. It's close enough, and I head up there frequently enough anyway for weekend get-aways that getting consultations done there won't be problematic. Thanks in advance for your input! -

For those who have lost 100+ pounds
kristieshannon replied to lbugher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I’m down 86 lbs since surgery. This weekend my husband and I travelled to the LA area. We’ve walked at least 8 miles each day while here. I have NO pain in my feet, legs, and back. No way I could have done this a year ago. Plus, as an extra bonus, I had room to spare with my seatbelt on the plane and no fear of not fitting on the rides at Six Flags and Disneyland :) -
Pre-op diet: Can I have Stevia in my tea?
kristieshannon replied to lisafrommassachusetts's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I do every day. No issues with it. -
I think I had half of one about 2 months out. I’m now 5 months out and have only had them a couple times.
-
I keep a premier protein bar in my purse just for emergencies. They’re too high in carbs and calories to fit in my plan regularly.
-
I’m in the Seattle area too! I had my surgery at Swedish in August. I’d love to meet up with others in the area for coffee and maybe some Green Lake walks once the weather is nicer!

Caffeine restrictions vary from doctor to doctor. Mine is ok with me having caffeinated coffee or tea.
