Looking sharp, I love the hat & shoes!

I had both in person consults locally, and virtual consults with a couple doctors in other states. The one I chose was across the country. I sent a series of photos and had a zoom consult with him, then had a pre op visit in person the day before surgery where all details were finalized. Now that I’m back home I’ve also had a couple virtual post op visits.

Tummy Tuck
kristieshannon replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had a tummy tuck with muscle repair at 17 months after my VSG. I hit my weight goal just about a month prior to PS. I also had a breast lift & augmentation and an arm lift. My reward after all the hard work of weight loss! -
Sugar Free/fake sweeteners drinks
kristieshannon replied to HealthyLifeStyle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I love the Costco brand of Vitamin Water (I think theirs is called Vita Rain). Zero sugar, not too sweet. I drink 4 every day at work so gets me at least 80 oz of water. -
Lol, my husband’s reaction exactly 😈😂

No idea when or where I’ll wear this, but it just arrived from Fashion Nova. I’m in love with my new boobs ❤️

You’re even smaller than you thought. I believe a 28 = size 6! -
4 week creamy blended soups

If you have a pho restaurant in your area, their broths are usually delicious. Usually comes with noodles and veggies, but several of the pho places near me were happy to just sell me broth. -
Exercise After Surgery
kristieshannon replied to Jnfinney's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I joined 9Round Kickboxing. It’s a great combo workout of cardio and strength training. At 30 minutes it’s really efficient too! -
I’m a nurse in a suboxone treatment program. For anyone reading this that will be facing the same situation, please have your suboxone provider advocate for you with your surgical team! We do anytime one of our folks is having surgery. We call directly to the surgeon and assist with formulating a post op pain plan. There are meds that can help along with suboxone to manage pain! Great job on both your recovery and your surgery, Joshua. And thank you for sharing, you will save someone the same agony you experienced!

As a nurse who charts in an electronic medical record, I can tell you that it is common to copy forward previous notes and then just update any changes. It’s very easy to miss updating something! Your provider may just have missed updating the line labeling you as onesies.

Plastic Surgery Countdown is on!
kristieshannon replied to kristieshannon's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
23 days post op today. Just did my first 3.5 mile walk post op and felt great! Also tried on a bikini I bought from Shein that arrived today. The cups are teeny tiny-one errant move and I’d be in a nip slip situation! This’ll be going back, but it’s fun to see my 51 year old boobs looking like 21 year old boobs :) -
Slow (maybe sore?) Loser
kristieshannon replied to ANewJourneyAwaits's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2.2 lbs/week = 114 lbs in a year! Before surgery I couldn’t even have fathomed losing that much in a year. You’re doing fine! Trust the process, continue tracking and exercise as you’re able and those pounds will add up to a huge loss. -
Curious... How long before you could eat your first piece of pizza?
kristieshannon replied to FINFAN3DP's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No anger here. I think I first attempted pizza at about 4-5 months post op. I’ll still have half a slice from time to time. I’ve been delighted that I am completely satisfied after half a slice. Allowing this kind of “treat” from time to time has made this livable for me long term. I’ve met my first goal weight, so it hasn’t derailed my process overall. I think the key is just keeping these kind of foods (high carb/fat) an occasional thing rather than falling back in to old habits and having them daily. -
Weight Gain From Anti-Histamine
kristieshannon replied to Soca Angel's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I take Benadryl every night for both sleep & allergies, and Zyrtec every morning. I also had my sleeve surgery in 2019. I’ve lost steadily and am now at my first goal weight of 155. I’m thinking of dropping another 10 to 145. No issues with antihistamines causing no losses or even gains for me. -
Plastic surgery painful?
kristieshannon replied to Debs6688's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had a tummy tuck, breast lift & augmentation, and arm lift 3 weeks ago. I’d say the arm lift was the most painful. However, like Kris77 and ChubRub, the pain was really only the first 3-4 days and well managed with pain meds. After that each day has been better & better. I now only take Tylenol occasionally at bedtime if I’ve overdone it during the day. -
Plastic Surgery Countdown is on!
kristieshannon replied to kristieshannon's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Weird side effect of my arm lift that I’ve noticed over the last couple days. I had enormous bat wings, which provided great padding to my arms. The last couple of nights, while laying in bed, I’ve noticed discomfort when my inner elbows and laying against the bed for too long. Much like my bony knees that now need a pillow between them I now need a pillow under my now bony elbows for comfort! -
Hey everyone its been a while!

Plastic surgery! Check out the PS forum here for lots of folks who’ve had it done. I had mine Jan 14 and couldn’t be happier. My 51 year old boobs look like they belong on a 20 year old :) -

What do you wish you had been told before surgery & after surgery?
kristieshannon replied to GaGirlGettingHealthy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish someone would have told me the things I was so worried about wouldn’t be such a big deal! I was so worried about giving up my Coke Zero addiction, and it’s been a complete non-issue. I was also very worried about loose skin. I took care of that via plastic surgery and feel great. -

My one year in December 3 of last year
kristieshannon replied to chefmaria1's topic in The Gals' Room
I’m so sorry you’re struggling. Have you had a check in visit with your surgical team and your dietician? That would be a good starting place if you haven’t. Go back to the basics, follow the guidelines you were given at the start of the process. Also, if you haven’t already, consider counseling and treatment for your depression. Looks like you’ve got a sweet buddy there who could be your walking partner to get in some activity each day! Hugs to you, keep coming back here for support ❤️ -
It’s so normal to have these fears! I was close to having WLS about 10 years ago, but cancelled due to fear. I’m now about a year and a half out, and only regret not doing it sooner. My recovery was a breeze. I took 3 weeks off work, but could have gone back after two. Pain was minimal, more fatigue than anything else. I carefully followed my team’s plan and have lost at a steady rate. I started at 286 and am now at my doctor’s goal of 155. Loose skin was definitely a thing, and I had plastic surgery to take care of that two weeks ago. Even if I hadn’t been able to have PS, I would take the loose skin over the 131 extra pounds any day! The process isn’t easy, but so very worth it. I can walk, run, hike, bike, and dance with my husband. I can walk in to any store and buy clothes that I love rather than trying to find something that fits me. I’m so glad I conquered my fear to do this, it is worth it in every way.
