Hi Skywalker, I was banded in 2006 and the first 6 years were perfect for me. I didn't have any problems with the band until the past 2 years. It's been downhill ever since so February 27th I'm having the revision surgery and getting the sleeve. I hope I'm doing the right thing. I can't seem to have any other fills, if I do then I'm going to be throwing up for weeks...my band is a 4 cc but I've not been able to get a fill past .5 cc... Just do your research and know that the band isn't the newest wls out there and for me and also several of my family members it just hasn't worked for us... My mother in law had to have hers taken out, my sisters band never worked, she lost 20 lbs and that's it, my mother lost 100 lbs but has since gained some back... Not meaning to scare you just be sure the band is what you want. Since your paying talk to both patients lap and and sleeve patients and find out the pros and cons... I too had to pay for the band and will have to pay again out of my pocket, insurance won't cover either. I will never refer the band. I know it's not all the bands fault, I'm at fault too, but I feel like I was a good patient and tried to follow the rules and I failed... Good luck! -

Hi everyone, I'm new to the posting, usually I read and don't respond... I was banded in 2006 and will soon have my revision to VSG February 27th. I'm kinda scared and hate to have to learn a new way of life. I can't seem to get my fills past .5 in my 4 cc band, when I try I'm very sick, vomiting etc. can't even swallow my saliva. I know my band is stretched, seen it on X-rays. I went 30 days with no fill trying to get it back in place and gained 30 lbs. I'm back with a fill and lost a few pounds but still have 25 to go... X-rays still show it to be stretched...So I'm tired of fighting with it and. Nina, my Dr.'s Assistant assures me I'll love the sleeve. Do y'all like the sleeve better than the band? I went with my sister when she got the sleeve and she was in so much pain after surgery and also sick. How did y'all feel after surgery? Thanks for your time... Rena -

Thank you for the welcome. I am so sorry to hear about your bones. Has the pain stopped yet? The one and only time I ever lost all my weight I started with a broken ankle. I would walk 3 miles per day in my cast. When they took it off I began running. I have great hopes for you. As tiny as you are, aren't you at goal?

Hey! Welcome to the lapband talk site. I am thrilled with my band and so happy I had the surgery. My biggest issue is last week on the 3 week anniversary of my surgery I fell and broke my ankle and my leg bone. So, no walking for me right now. What a mess. I am hanging in there and hope for lots of loss soon!

My husband was banded 2/16/08 and thought he was having bad gas pains when in fact it was gastritis. He was in some very bad pain for almost a week, the doctor put him on Prilosec and Mylanta and it worked wonders for him. Almost instant relief and by the next day no pain at all. But he kept taking it for 2 weeks just to be safe...Hope this helps. Rena (follow directions on box & bottle when taking it)

Hi again, I see where you asked about cost. I paid 8k for mine and had it done in Mexicalli, MX right across from San Diego, CA. My husband paid 7800 (cost has went down some since the new Johnson & Johnson band has came out) and had it done at the same place...They were great...Dr. Aceves has a web site it is Untitled Document feel free to contact them if you are interested. They are wonderful...Just letting you know so you can have a comparison...Hope you have a great day! Rena
