ChocoTaco got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Weight loss
Everyone's different, but I lost 24lbs in the first month. After that I averaged 3lbs a week, now that I'm almost 5 months out I'm at 2lbs per week which I know I could do better if I was a bit more active. I think in the end you get the results you work for. I signed up for my first half marathon in the spring so hopefully training for that will help me get to my goal and then some 😊

ChocoTaco reacted to catwoman7 in First Month Average Loss
I lost 16 lbs the first month - and I ended up losing ALL of my excess weight - over 200 lbs. People lose at all different rates for all different reasons - most of which you have no control over. The one thing you DO have control over is whether or not you stick to your program. If you stick to your program, the weight WILL come off, whether fast or slow. And to be honest, since the average weight loss for us "non-600-lb life people" seems to be in the 15-25 lb range the first month, you're going to end up in that range. So...you're normal!

ChocoTaco reacted to elcee in Anyone NOT track their calories?
Me
I have never tracked. I find it too difficult, too time consuming and just generally frustrating. The closest I have got to tracking is keeping notes in a diary, usually before dieticians appointments. When she looks she just scans through checking the Protein and gives me pointers as to where I can improve. The practice I go to don’t actively encourage tracking.
So my take would be if you are happy to do it go for it. If you don’t want to have to work out exactly what is in every mouthful and you are healthy and losing ( or maintaining) as per your plan then don’t.
Different strokes for different folks

I don't track calories or weigh food and was never told to by the surgeon or the bariatric nurse. I was just told to 'eat small, eat healthy'. I keep a food diary and record my weight weekly, but that's all. Food doesn't control me any more, so I don't want to spend more time thinking about it than I do currently. It's just there when I need it.

Can we all agree he's not even cute? (Sorry that was my inner mean girl LOL!)
It's great to have standards, but let's keep them realistic or else be prepared to be alone for the rest of your life. *drops mic*

The problem is that there are also average sized and thin people who live unhealthy lifestyles. Instead of focusing on weight maybe just say your looking for someone who lives an active lifestyle similar to your own. Also, if anyone’s able to throw you off that easily, I’d focus more inwardly on your own goals and self strength before investing your time and energy into another person. Isn’t worth losing yourself to be in a relationship. Hope that makes sense

ChocoTaco got a reaction from Frustr8 in Maryland Newbie
Hey @nursekimberly89 I already had my surgery but I paid out of pocket and had it done in Mexico. I was a "healthy" fat girl with no complications so it wouldn't be covered by my insurance and I was on the BMI borderline :/

ChocoTaco got a reaction from Frustr8 in Maryland Newbie
Hi everyone!
So I've been really insecure about myself and my weight for the last couple of years to the point where I haven't been in a relationship in 5 years! After much thinking and a little push from my mother, I decided to get WLS. I want to get back into the dating world, but I don't even know where to begin.
I tried Eharmony towards the beginning of the year and met someone, things were going great and we even had a second date. The entire time I was under the impression things were going in the right direction until out of the blue he told me he "couldn't do this" and it was best to cut ties. Til this day I can't shake the feeling that this was due to my weight, and now I'm more hesitant to date again. I know that after losing weight things will be easier, but I don't like the idea of someone liking me now only because I'm "skinny".
Any one else feel that way?

ChocoTaco reacted to rs in Repeat Rant - It's LOSE not LOOSE!
Seems some folks didn't take spelling in school. I read a lot of posts and comments incorrectly using "loose" in place of "lose". No way I believe it's a keyboard auto correct issue every single time. It should be LOSE weight. And LOOSE skin. Thanks for listening.

ChocoTaco got a reaction from alex76 in What are your favorite excuses?
I used the preop phase to ease people into the fact that I'm making lifestyle changes. So I told them that I was trying to lose weight by replacing two meals with high Protein Shakes and having a low carb dinner. I also bought a 64oz water bottle and have been toting around non stop.
Since I had my surgery in Mexico I said I was going to visit family with my parents (my step dad is Mexican and his family lives in Tijuana) couldn't be more perfect. While I was there I made sure everyone took plenty pictures of food as well as tourist sites so I could post them on my social media to make things seem more normal. Now that I'm back no one has noticed too much of the weight loss, the few that have I just keep advertising my Protein shakes and exercising my will power when they bring in food for employees.
I saw someone post once, "No one asked me the details about my weight gain or how I got there, so they don't need to know the details of my weight loss or how I'm getting there" LOL!

ChocoTaco got a reaction from alex76 in Not looking for advice! I just need to vent.
I've bought a lot of clothes from Walmart, and they are way more affordable than torrid. Not to mention some are actually cuter. Don't knock Walmart till you try it!
