Hi, I had RNY three weeks ago. I've lost 15 pounds (not counting weight gain from IV in hospital.) I hear people saying they can only eat a couple of tablespoons. I have never been like that, and I could drink easily immediately after surgery. I can comfortably eat a mashed banana. I keep thinking the surgeon, who is a very good experienced surgeon, made my pouch too large. Am I being crazy? Its driving me nuts.

3 Weeks and I don't get full that fast
madssmadss replied to madssmadss's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have been really lucky. The recovery hasn't been bad at all. I'm now in my fourth week. I have lost about 18 pounds from before the two day liquid diet. I didn't really do any other kind of diet before surgery besides the two day clear liquid diet. Also super happy to have the band out. I didn't realize how bad it had become, heartburn, spitting up. -
3 Weeks and I don't get full that fast

I'm feeling more confident than I did. I ate some salmon and ricotta cheese and I definitely became satisfied quickly! I didn't much but I got to a point after about a quarter to a half a cup of food that I didn't want anymore. That's definitely a new sensation for me. I'm only at 60 grams of protein today so I really need at least one more protein shake to get to eighty. My goal is 100 of protein but I've only been getting to 80 most days, sometimes more or less. But the thing where you can only drink a teensy bit right after surgery, I never had that! When I was in the hospital and they brought in a tray with sugar free jello, lemon ice, cranberry juice and chicken broth I could drink all of it. I did it slowly as I knew I was supposed to, but I never had any issue getting down all the liquid I was supposed to drink. So that made me nervous. I started to think the surgeon hadn't done the entire surgery! But now I think I was just very lucky. -

OK, I made two scrambled eggs. I ate most of it, not all, maybe 3/4. I am satisfied, I wouldnt want anymore. Had I measured the scrambled eggs I'm guessing maybe half a cup? Hmm, maybe next time I'll measure the eggs just as an experiment. BUT IT'S WORKED!!!! I ate basically the prescribed amount and I'm done and I dont feel sick and I dont want anything else to eat. YAY!!!!! -
I believe the most important thing is to get the right amount of protein. Its easy to get obsessed with this kinda thing. is it 170 calories in each shake or for two? I believe my shakes are either 110 if I use Jay Robb Whey Poweder or 140 if I use Orgain 'clean protein' pre prepared. Jay Rob has 25 protein the other has 20. What are your calorie goals, if you have them? I'm kinda thinking I should stay under 1000? I also must start walking!

I had my band removed and RNY at the same time. DIfferent surgeons do it differently. make sure to go to someone with a ton of experience. It makes all the difference. As far as insurance it really depends on which BCBS. I was denied and hired lindstrom obesity advocates. If you have any issues call them and have a free consultation. They are amazing. I have BCBS Illinois and had a terrible time with them. As far as your job and work, it depends on how you recover. I definitely needed at least a week to be able to do anything. Two weeks I would've been fine.

3 weeks post op. Belly button incision pain
madssmadss replied to Je$$ica36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
by far the most painful incision for me is the one on the right of my bellybutton. I even have a dent where that incision is. THe dent is going away, and that incision is hurting less, but its obviously where all he action happened as its the only incision that has really hurt. It still does but its much better. I also had bypass. -
HUNGRY AND STALLED

Jessica how are you doing? I am three weeks today and I feel like I don't get full on the few bites people talk about. I am eating at least a half a cup of cottage cheese, or two scrambled eggs. -

Thank you. I don't feel like I'm over eating, but I definitely don't have the kind of restriction people talk about having. -
Hi, I had surgery on May 10th so today is three weeks. HOw are you doing? I've been comfortable eating more than most people it seems. How much food are you eating that feels comfortable? I have never had the eat two spoons and feel stuffed. I'm more like at least a half a cup. I started at 244 so similar start weight to yours. I'm now 228, so down 17.
