Hiya Debbie, I do the weighing at weight watchers!!! bloody cheeky eh! not told anyone about my surgery. Tonight is the weigh in night and I am worried I havent lost anything this week. Will be gutted if I haven`t as I have been sooo good but its hard as I am hungry a lot now. I tried a little rice yesterday with no prob at all. wouldnt really know I had a band! Been eating a lot of omlettes but think I need to cut back on the eggs as got terrible constipation!!!! : ) lovely!!! Hardly been since the op!! did have some chocolate ex lax... was a real treat yummy!!! haha... Got 3 weeks till my fill now, hope my willpower doesnt desert me! Yes I think it might be a good idea to go to weight watchers while your waiting for your fill. With a weekly weigh in you can keep track of what your weight is doing and being at a club might inspire you. Will post later on "the weekly weigh in" how I get on tonight. Hi Tracey, Good luck for you op on the 21st. Like you I found them to be all great pre op or should I say pre payment!! but just no time for you what so ever once you have paid. I hope your experience with them will be different. The team at Dolan Park are all great so you will have no worries there at all. Wishing you all the best. Georgina x

me too... I think I used the term only for my 1 1/2 pound loss because of my previous weeks loss being 10 pounds. I know they all add up!! Bet you cant wait to be banded Kerri... Good luck for when its you joining the "losers" XX

Hi Deb, and everyone else! No I dont think I have much resritiction, I am eating small portions but feel I could eat more BUT DONT DARE! I have only been on the mushy stage a few days. Got my 1st fill in 3 and a half weeks! Can anyone tell me whats it like after your 1st fill? I know you go onto liquid for a day or two but how is it after that? I am going on holiday 3 days after my 1st fill and worried about what I will be able to manage. Going with a friend that doesnt know I have been banded and would rather not tell her. Georgina xx

WELL DONE!! You are melting away!! I only lost one and a half this week so thats 11 1/2 in 12 days! Really hoping for 2 1/2 this week to make my first stone not sure that will happen though as on "real" food now and after just liquids I feel "naughty" when I eat and as though I`m going to put weight on.

Thats brill Debbie, I would have loved to meet up with you for coffee but my appointment is on the 30th july.. my one on 9th was the Mr Richardson one in london for discharge. I am so pleased you got to speak to Hayley... she seems to be the only one who knows what shes doing!!!!! Thats great you can eat most things... Hi Debbie Had a letter throught yesterday, (and its not the result of me calling them because they didnt even ask my name when I rang!! Charming eh!) anyway its an appointment in orpington kent for 30th july.. I the phoned the head office and told her this was 2 weeks after the date I should have had it and I told her that I was really upset with the aftercare I had got or should I say NO AFTERCARE! and she was very nice and has put me down for a comlementry fill at the same time so thats better than nothing I suppose. Her neme was Hayley, maybe you could gibve her a call Debbie. My only worry now is I will have fill on the 30th then go away for a week 3 days later with a girl friend that I was hoping not to have to tell about my band but didnt want to turn the offer of that down! Also with that letter was an appointment to see Mr Richardson in London on Sat 9th Aug but I asked if I could have another date as on holiday, well thats the day we are coming home, she said he had no other dates at all in aug so will have a telephone discharge. Im not too worried about this as I feel fine and my scars are healed lovely. Usually my skin is a slow healer but I have been rubbing a little of that Bio-Oil into the scars ... its really nice. Hows the weight going? I was a bit didappointed at weigh in last night as lost one and a half pounds...bit of a come down from my 10 last week!!! But cant knock 11 and a half since the20th june. How was your holiday...did you still enjoy eating out? Have you found many things you cant eat yet? I am just starting on the mushies...what a joy! Feel nervous about eating "real food" again incase I put weight on... Hope you get your appointments sorted Debbie. Maybe give Hayley a call.. honest she was very nice and could swing yourself a free fill!! The least they can do for us for putting up with them after paying £5000!!! Hi Perfect ten... I am hoping you can help me by telling me where did you phone to make your appointment to go and have your barium xray? I like you went with the WGA and untill I parted with my money they seemed great but since then an absolute dead loss!! I even had to ring them a few days befor surgery to find out times for nil by mouth and blood test appointments. I am really pleased to say that my op went very well and I am feeling absolutely fine. Thought it was bad how you get put out of your room by 6.30am tho!!! Anyway I was told by a senior nurse Karen that a letter would be with me within a few days with details of my xray at 4 weeks and consultant appointment at five weeks...also that a nurse would be calling me within the 1st pre op week to check all was well.... none of these things have happened.. she also told me that when I go for my barium xray at spire parkway a small fill will be put in, I am now doubting this too!!! Anyway this morning I rang the number the so called patient co ord gave me befor I had parted with any cash to ask about date for the xray and she was so short with me I could have just cried after I put the phone down!She had no interest whatso ever in what I had to say. She said a letter would be with me at some point and there could be a back log of people wanting xrays.. might not be 4 wks time could be 6 but she didnt know. Her name was Sally. I wondered if maybe you had phoned elsewhere as I read in your complaint that you phoned and made the appointment for your self with no problems. I live a good two and a half hours from Birmingham so was hoping to do an overnight stay in a hotel when I go up hense wanting to find out dates so I can make a reservation. How are things with you now? Hows the weight coming off. I am starting to feel hungry now but trying to stay determined!!! Look forward to hearing from you soon and Thanks Georgina xx

Was banded last friday and last night at my weekly weigh in I had lost 10 pounds!!! So thats in 6 days!! So pleased with that. Georgina x

Hi everyone..:biggrin2: I had my op at Dolan Park, Bromsgrove on friday by Mr Richardson and now I`m back home and not feeling too bad. No Pain really in the wounds just feel a bit bruised inside and the anasthetic made me very sicky but thats always the case with me and anastetics.:ohmy: Have been doing ok I think on the liquids so far, had a couple of shakes yesterday and some Soup (tomato) struggle with my Water tho. So this is the beginning for me... Hope you are all doing well. Georgina xx

Im doing ood thanks Debbie. Yes had a room on my own which was nice. I am same as you on the "BUDGET" package with WGA... never thought I would see the day I called £5000 on weight loss BUDGET!!!! lol .. but hey needs must... and if it works it will be worth every penny. You are doing fab almost a stone already. You should get you xray through soon as thats meant to be done 4 weeks post op. Wont it be fab if we were to get a fill then!! I am just having a drink thing I bought it morrisons its a Nurshment Chocolate Shake with vitamins, minerals and protein... sounds good eh..... shame it tastes absolutely foul!!!! First taste was good but after that yuk!! its sooooo sweet!!! Tastes like a ton of sugar in it. Thats brill you got restriction still. I am ok on liquids thought I would be going mad by now but really not finding it a prob. Felt the occasional bit dizzy and lightheaded but hardly at all and its just gone off.. prior to banding that feeling would have been my green light to go pig out!! So thats a result already. Hi All xx Kerri... sorry I shouldnt have wrote that about being strapped down I didnt mean to freak you out honey. It will be fine. I asked and they said its just to keep you very still. Standars op procedure I expect but usually all done once you are away with the fairies. You will be fine. I am just going to try and get myself a ticker so hope I can get it working. Hi Sal, Yes It all went really well, as for follow ups no I dont have a choice, I live in West Sussex so my nearest consultation place was London. Only option for surgery was Dolan Park and they do not have the equipment there to do the Barium Swallow Xray hence have to go to Spire Parkway which is quite near to Dolan Park I have been told and then back to my nearest place London for discharge and any further fills. Mr Richardson was absolutely fine on the day, he popped into the room in the morning befor surgery to check all was well and for me to sign the consent and the he called back late evening to check I was doing ok. I didnt see him in theater. Now only 3 days later I feel absolutely fine with regards to the op and the band but I have a back problem and it has decided now to play up big time!!! So I am really fed up and frustrated over that because I was doing so well, and you will too when its your turn. It really has been far less of an ordeal than I was expecting. I am drinking a couple of nesquick milkshakes a day and some soup. Not really sure about the fill, I too thought you had to wait longer but as I said this Karen nurse told me I will get a fill when I have my barium so who knows.. wait and see on that one. I do hope she is right. WHOOO Ann you are doing fab... lost a stone now thats so great!!! enjoy your real food when you get to it. Hi Debbie Great to hear back from you!:ohmy: Yes do know what you mean about the walk to theatre!! Bit I didn`t like was getting on the actual operating table yourself and being strapped down while fully awake, I found this made me anxious and I was glad to be put out! Dont remember being in the recovery room at all... I was sleepy for ages after. I am terrible after a GA. Dont feel at all bad now tho. Did they tell you what to do with your dressings Debbie... they told me nothing and I forgot to ask till I was coming out the hospital door then asked a lady that I think worked in the kitchen she went and asked and they said just take them off in two days and treat as normal.. is that what you did with yours. The ones on my left side feel a bit warm but nothing from the others. Im glad thats over and am really looking forward to losing weight now. Hows your weight going now? Oh something else... I had a lady called Karen, a nurse, she came and tool the canula out and gave me discharge papers. She told me that I will get a letter through the post for an appointment at Spire Parkway for 4 weeks time for swallow xray and 1st fill at that time then an appointment 1 week later to be signed off by Mr Richardson in London. Did they tell you this and that you will get a 1st fill? Have you had any appointments come through for you yet? Questions questions eh! Oh God!!!! I am so so sorry for you. It must be awful. I am due to have my band operation this friday in Bromsgrove with WGA and already befor my op I get the feeling that now I am all paid up they are not interested in me!!! Befor I paid they were so helpful. I had a few chats on the phone with one lady.. Philipa.. she told me she was looking forward to meeting me at consultation and going through everything with me as she had a band herself but when I arrived they said Oh No Sorry she is no longer working for us... Id only spoken to her about 3 days befor. I havent recieved any info from the hospital re nil by mouth or time to be admitted so I called the number I had been given to call with any questions at all no matter how small and was rushed off the phone and put through to someone else who at first told me I wasnt even booked in for friday!!!! She eventually came back and said yes I was but its that sort of stress that really knocks your confidence especially when you are getting all worried and nervous about having the op anyway. I really feel for you and hope that despite their lack of care that the band will be everything that you hoped it would be.. Good luck and keep me posted at how your getting on. How is the weight loss going?? We are lucky to have this forum so we can help each other as much as we can and hope that makes up for some of their lack of aftercare.
