It definitely does suck that you can’t tell when we lose, on a thinner person a 30lb loss looks drastic. A few more lbs and I can be at that milestone with you!! I’ve lost 26 and Hubz has lost 30 and you can’t tell on either of us! If anything you can see it a tiny bit in our checks but nothing else.

July 2019 Surgery Siblings Post-Op
Mom_of_Chaos replied to Mom_of_Chaos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah you can take in so little they it’s really not any effort to stay so low. It’s hard to think of how I’ll reach 500. Far cry from the pre-op me 😂 -
July 2019 Surgery Siblings Post-Op

Yeah it is low but that’s what the program is. It’s supposed to be a shock to your body and that it definitely is. At first you feel weak but now that it’s been a couple weeks we both feel pretty good. We get worn out a little faster than we might on a normal diet but overall we feel good. -

Awe that sucks! Some things do taste different after. Tomato soup actually tastes delicious to me but I’m tired of it now... along with clear soup, chicken broth, wonton broth and cream of everything lol -

He’s still in a good bit of pain waiting on them to pass but hopefully soon! And we hopped on the scale as soon as we got home

He actually said that to one of the nurses he’s take the surgery 5 times over a kidney stone.

Great job! -
I was also in your shoes, my dr schedules 2-3 weeks out from when they submit everything so I was nervous but eventually it all worked out and I have faith that yours will too! Good Luck!

Wow! Booked up til 2020 in July? That’s crazy your surgeon is a busy guy! Good luck!!! We are UHS not BCBS but our approval took right at a week.

Do Non-Battery Scales up to 350 exist?
Mom_of_Chaos replied to polly...'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
We noticed our battery operated scales will be “off” if any part of it is touching the grout line on the tile so we make sure it’s center before we hop on and otherwise it’s pretty dead on. -

Hubz & I are now 10 days post op. Surgery wise we’re doing great but last night we ended up in the ER with Hubz for kidney stones. He’s now in bed snoozing and I’m barely holding my eyes open dreaming about an iced coffee with double espresso lol. VSG wise we both get abound pretty well. He was able to cut the yard yesterday and we are able to do everything around the house and for the kids that we need to. We have left side pain but we have pretty good pain tolerances and rather breathe through it than take pain medicine. Don’t QUITE make our protein every single day yet but if we don’t we are pretty close, it will come in time. Counting down the days until we move to purées/soft at day 15. We’re pretty over Liquids at this point. As of this morning he’s lost 28lbs and I’ve lost 24. *This little update is cross posted to the pre-op thread, I wanted those who hadn’t gone yet to get it too* -

It depends, everyone’s different. My husband has zero gas pain and I had it a couple days. -

New Convert of the Sleeved

Girl I feel ya! We had surgery the same day! Yesterday was also a tough day for me mentally. InLaws fried all kind of food while we were there and it was so depressing but I think the mental part will get better if we fight through it and lean on our support systems here. Right now they lined out pretty clear for me what I can have but My surgeon has an “in moderation” approach once you go into maintenance. I’m also from the Deep South, like you, where we are born and bread to truly celebrate all things deliciously. We will get through this girl! Tough days will not get us down! -
Anyone else riding out Barry? For most of us in the south we’ve done this many many times now. Post Op Day 5, only house in our neighborhood with power, hoping to hold onto it! So if you’re getting hit by Barry too, let us know you’re alright!

Still have power. Enjoying a few strained sips of the gumbo we cooked for the kids. My in-laws were frying fish, chicken and everything under the sun when we checked on them earlier it was rough to smell. Our horses (labradors) are enjoying all this unlimited time inside. But kids & ourselves are a little stir crazy genes the trip over to the in-laws earlier.

July 2019 Surgery Siblings Post-Op
Mom_of_Chaos replied to Mom_of_Chaos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They didn’t give me any but I knew from family members who’d had VSG before that I should start taking them.
