Had my pre-op appointment today and we are aiming for surgery in October 💪🏽🙇🏽♀️. I'm at 249 and need to get to 235 lbs and get a few more things in order. Starting iron transfusions next week, for the next 4 weeks. I forgot to ask if I can have one meal a day and 2 protein shakes now to help me get down to my goal approval surgery weight. I'm learning from those of you close to surgery.

I'm having my pre-op appointment later today. My choice is the vsg /sleeve, but first I have a few things to get in order in this body. I'm committed and willing to give this 1000% of my effort for the remainder of my life. My bariatritian and I are looking for a January surgery date, but October sounds good too....I'm strong enough to survive the holidays, I'm ready to get my new stomach after all of health is in order. Congrats everyone for being strong enough to share your personal journey and be an encouragement for someone else.

Oh wow...are you in Northern California? I'm in Southern California and we each have our own process, I'm okay with it. Still getting mentally prepared and making changes beforehand so I can succeed for myself. Best of luck to you and your journey.

No problem...So, you fully understand the classes and etc., which I for one appreciate to help equip me. This is a major decision that is going alter our lives forever, no rush here. I need to know how to care for my new organ and the mental preparation is key for me.

Sam's club is the place for Premier protein drinks right now, until July 14th. I think I will have 2 shakes a day and a sensible 500 - 600 calorie meal, but I will run this by my Dr on Thursday. Eating 1500 calories a day is a daunting task for me right now do to my body drama. I'm also on hormone therapy as a result and don't want to start gaining weight as a result during the pre-op phase. I want to be surgery ready, once the body drama is settled and treated. I've been on this journey since last September and decided in April to get the vsg...in the Kaiser process now and looking to have surgery in the beginning of 2020...this body drama wasn't in the plans and neither were my crazy labs...

Congratulations Midnight Sun and Tal. I'm also keeping this surgery myself. You've got a whole community here of ppl...

Please utilize this time to heal and get better. Fainting, getting dizzy and etc. is not nice, you'd rather be at home going through that. Work will be there and we only get one you. -
😊 Happy birthday to a healthier you.

Congratulations on your accomplishments and I'm so happy for you. If you have a comfort item or if you like aromatherapy, that can be a nice touch. Like I will take my flameless candle whenever my time comes, candles are soothing to me and my aromatherapy spray. I need those 2 things to keep my anxiety at bay. Please let us know how you are doing. -

June 2019 Surgery Siblings!
Krimsonbutterflies replied to BulletWithButterflyWings's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope everyone who is recovering and preparing are in the best spirits. I'm reading and taking notes on everything being shared. I went to do my labs today, before my pre- op appt. on June 27th so the Bariatric team can get a realistic look at what we need to do to get me surgery ready. My A1C is back up to 5.8 from 5.3, I'm anemic/iron deficient, had 3 periods since May 3rd (currently on the 3rd one), went to get an ultrasound today so I can get to the source of this body drama...On week 3 of my Options class (Kaiser 12 weeks mandatory), I've lost almost 30 pounds since last September....so I thought I was doing great and now all of this body drama. Today, I honestly feel scared & confused. My stress levels have already been high, I'm thankful for this platform and staying encouraged via all of you and your strength. -

Help I gained 5 pounds & my surgery is in two weeks!
Krimsonbutterflies replied to fulfillingfavor's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You summed it up perfectly. The pre-op is preparation for the post-op, post-new mindset...This is not a drill, this is the real deal. If the weight gain is fork gain and not medical beyond our own control gain, then we must re-evaluate. What's in your tool box??? -
Urine Screening - Smoking
Krimsonbutterflies replied to Krimsonbutterflies's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We can't have anything in our system. Even though the oil isn't smoked, but perhaps the absorption into the skin and they just don't know enough about it yet. -

From one butterfly to the next, time to morph into nonsmokers. Thank you for the encouragement/positivity, because I like the sensation of hand to mouth...putting all of my stress into the inhale and releasing on the exhale. Seriously, it soothes me with a cup a tea no sugar, lol. We all have/had our things. No more cbd & tea for me 😔. My health is more important. -

Per my medical team, no smoking of any kind and it keeps coming up...so, I have to be done. Damn. -

Krimsonbutterflies replied to fulfillingfavor's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just left my class and I gained a pound from last week. I thought this week was better as far as my nutrition and water intake. You have the ability to get back on track and finish strong, you will make mistakes and that's fine. If you really want to proceed with this surgery and I know you do, give the next 2 weeks your best and be kind to yourself. Come here for support and positive feedback, then continue to invest in you and push through. Your victory is right there, you've got this. -
To Tell or NOT to Tell
Krimsonbutterflies replied to Jemma23's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't like the idea of being critiqued or having my body open to commentators at their free will either. I think that people feel at liberty to say whatever appeases them, without taking into consideration the consequences of their words. I also have to remember that other's abilities to take action and live a healthier lifestyle may be a trigger for another's insecurities. Just something to think about, because I have a family member who refuses to acknowledge the 30 pounds I've already shed. I'm not soliciting comments nor do I need validation, but 30 pounds is noticeable and we've discussed my sentiment regarding the excess weight. I commited to this journey last September and have been consistent. The only thing she says is, "what activity are you attaching yourself to this weekend?" Ohhhhh the shade, I just answer with pride....this 5k or this bike ride!!! I'm proud of myself and I am not going to allow or invite negativity to my life. We each will travel a different path towards success, my supporting cast will be determined along the way. I'm so private naturally and determined that, I don't have room for haters. Happiness is my choice... -
Are you sure you want to do this?
Krimsonbutterflies replied to Everything's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Perfectly spoken...that weight loss can not be sustained long term in a healthy manner. She was beyond unprofessional and a liability to her employer, the patient prior to surgery and their own career. -
To Tell or NOT to Tell
Krimsonbutterflies replied to Jemma23's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh I like that quote! It's such a personal matter and very inappropriate to ask if you've had wls. You don't go around asking people do you have cancer, heart disease, does your reproductive system work and etc???? I believe in being selective about who and what you share your personal information with. This process is mental and emotional enough on its own, I don't understand why any rational person would invite the extra unhealthy people and stress into the process knowingly. Choose your support team wisely and use discretion is my advice.
