Krimsonbutterflies replied to jaymmee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, everything happens the way its supposed to. So, no worries about delay in my program. Yes, I will be able to choose and hopefully my surgeon will be available during the time I'm ready for all of this. I went to visit my friend after her revision yesterday in the hospital and this is very real for me. She has Kaiser too, I'm anxious and nervous. -
Sugar free popsicles
Krimsonbutterflies replied to ldawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just bought a box of fudgesicles (100 calories) the sugar free were sold out. I'm also preop, so I figured this was okay. My store was completely sold out of all sugar free popsicles this past Sunday, so I bought sugar free jello as a treat as well. -

Jaymee, I'm at West LA Kaiser. I have not selected a surgeon yet, it is about time for me to make a decision. I only have 3 classes left, however; my surgery is probably going to be either in October or early January. I have a few health issues that are being addressed. -

Are you getting the sleeve, bypass or a revision or would you like to talk about anything else? I'm understanding, my friend is getting a revision on the 24th and we've been focusing on other topics for now. These group can be the support you need... -

I have Kaiser and only 4 classes left. It will go by quickly and it's a good source of support for those of us who have this insurance. It's what this region of Kaiser requires and I'm learning so much from the bariatric team.... I look forward to the class honestly and the group I'm with shows us the different faces of weight issues. We all have our own journeys that brought us to this point, but it's encouraging to be able to know I'm not the only one...You've got this, mind over matter. -
September 2019 🍂🍁
Krimsonbutterflies replied to Repeatingthoughts's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry for the delay in responding...Kaiser in Southern California requires that you complete a 13 week Options program, labs, pre-op appointment prior to meeting with the surgeon, psych evaluation, birth control consultation, weight qualification varies per person, if your labs come back abnormal/alerting the medical team that you have issues to address before approval (those issues will be handled/treated if possible), medications prescribed if needed, labs retested if needed, test for nicotine and all THC/ CBD usage (must be zero).... I've only got 4 classes left, discovered a few issues that are now being treated when my labs came back. I'm very anemic and as result my bariatric Dr. has prescribed iron transfusions for the last month (I just finished a session today) and only one session left. I'm vitamin D deficient again, so I'm being treated for that again. I have body drama going on and will be having an outpatient surgery on August 2nd for fibroids and endometriosis and etc. My labs are scheduled to be retested again on 09/27...I'm also prediabetic again, probably from all of the body drama....I'm not gaining weight which is great, I started at 280 pounds last September and I'm 249 currently. I need to get to 235 or very close to it for approval....I'm taking hormones due to the body drama, but not after the outpatient procedure on August 2nd, which will help me get back on my weight loss trend. I will be getting the Mirena IUD which is supposed to help my body drama and satisfy the birth control requirement....Just staying focused and positive, while dedicated to having a healthier lifestyle...this journey is not for the faint at heart and I'm taking the good with the bad and everything in the damn middle...even all of this body drama.. My GP wasn't addressing all of these health issues, so I'm thankful for the strong foundation my new body is being built on, starting from the inside out. -

Everything in its place and time...don't force it and go with the flow, we'd rather have you safe and cautious then rushed. When I first started this surgery journey we were aiming for January, then we were thinking October. Realistically, I'm okay with January if October is unattainable due to approval and requirements. I'm rooting for you...maybe our dates will be close and I have more time to workout, so I won't have a lot of loose skin. I know, silly stuff... -

How supportive was your GP?
Krimsonbutterflies replied to TattooedSeaStar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My GP made the referral last year for me to enter the Bariatric program after seeing my struggle for the last 6 years. I cried because hearing it out loud made it real that I needed help and at the same time, I felt internal relief that real help was on the way. My first appointment was last September a week after my birthday, I wasn't ready to accept surgery as a possibility yet; but, I was willing to give the Bariatric program a chance and open my mind to make better decisions regarding my health. Just this April, I came to my own decision that wls is a good choice for me to get my health and body back on track. Thanks to my GP, Bariatric team, this website, my small support group and getting my mental health in check this is really going to happen. It's not easy, but worth having and choosing SUPPORTING CAST MEMBERS to your movie called...Your Life... -

Thoughts on sharing with extended family
Krimsonbutterflies replied to TattooedSeaStar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always been a very private person and respect other people and their space as I would like to be respected. I'm not going to be the poster child for wls, as this is a very personal decision for me. I didn't make this decision lightly or quickly for that matter. I have a small but very supportive group and I just told my sister and she's highly supportive. This is a very mental process that requires for us to do a lot of internal work, I personally don't have space for anyone's unaddressed personal life issues. Negativity is not welcomed, this means I'm not going to be able to share with a few people and I'm fine with that. Some ppl are just narrow minded and that's not my issue to address, getting my health in check is the only priority for me. I come first, finally. Not anyone's opinions and ideas of what they feel I should be doing. Everything doesn't have to be publicized for approval. -

I believe in vibes as well and my input being valued, especially when its about my health. Trust your instincts and do what feels good to you. -
I thank you for the follow-up and encouragement, as these past few months have been physically exhausting. I'm still waiting to hear back from the Dr. with my biopsy results (which I'm in a positive state of mind about). The iron transfusions start this Saturday, which I'm excited about...because the energy vampires have conquered my life, lol. I don't think without this serious journey to wls that my health affairs would be getting in order. So for this, I'm very thankful. I'm exhausted from a health standpoint and emotionally tired, bit appreciative of the medical team helping me along the way. This journey is also revealing that not everyone is going to be happy to see you get your priorities together regarding your future and wellbeing. I've slowly tried to bring ppl into my process to gauge their reactions and not everyone is meant to be a part of our journey and I'm okay with this. There are others who have been a tremendous support as I'm dealing with various health issues and they are my sanity on rough days. Bariatric pal is also a place for me to safely Express my thoughts and feelings without being judged, which lessens my anxiety and stress about this process. This is a beautiful journey, but a shedding of many ugly habits, relationships, truths, reality checks about our health and coming into accountability for my role in my health. Whew.....I went on a rant...
