Nicotine blood test
apiane replied to Camiladeleon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good job not picking it back up. You can do it! -
Anyone else NOT eating like they should Post-op?
apiane replied to cristobal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was so helpful to read. Thank you everyone! -
Besides the Chai being a little spicy, which might irritate your stomach, I think you're okay with non-fat milk and artificial sweetener. That way the milk is some protein, and your only empty calories will be the Chai. Just sip slowly so you don't get sick.

Any August 2019 people out there?
apiane replied to big_ange's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm August 5th too! We'll rock this! -
Isn't that the hardest part. We're so conditioned that it's rude or uncouth to not eat at a social function... But we really don't have to.

14 months out - Just a quick update.
apiane replied to TexasMommy80's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm sorry about your dad. It's so hard when they just go with no warning. I know you want to lose more weight but you look amazing! -
I'm still waiting for insurance approval but I'm tentatively July 15th... which seems way too close but I've been dying to have it done so I'm excited.

My surgeon's office is submitting to UHC today. She said they usually get it back in about 5 days, but it could take up to 15. I'm super nervous because I was denied a year ago. But I've been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes since then and my BMI went over 40 (though I'm under now after my physician assisted diet). I'm just hoping it gets approved smoothly.

I just want to make sure it's made clear that you have to take Vitamins after the sleeve as well. So don't let that be a factor.

My husband just surprised me and ordered the Starter pack from Unjury so I can try all of their protein powders. It's scary how excited I am! But I'm ready to see what will work for me on my liquid diet, and for protein after! I feel like this is a step that will get me to my next appointment. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I'm so excited about... Protien powder???
apiane replied to apiane's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I haven't tried the chocolate yet. So far the chicken soup is the best. I think the unflavored would work in a recipe but not in a drink. Made that mistake today. -
Hey ya'll. I have a question. First, some background... My whole life I was very small. 115 lbs was my heaviest (I'm 5' 3.5") and I always thought I was too small. But that's who I was. When I was 19 I was diagnosed with Bipolar II disorder, and put on Seroquel. Anyone who knows that drug knows that it's known for weight gain. WELL, I gained 100 lbs in just over a year. At first I was excited at the weight gain because I finally had some curves. But then it got out of control. I ate healthy and weight just poured on. I didn't (and still don't) recognize myself in the mirror. I guess my question is, do you think when I go down I'll recognize myself again? Or will the body dysmorphia stay the same and I won't feel like my old self. I'm not planning on going down that far... I'd like to be around 145 or whatever I think looks good. Any insight would be appreciated.

I have a therapist I go to often so I'll be able to talk it out. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Pre surgery 6 mth required diet
apiane replied to jennifer47's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance just requires 6 months, they don't have to be consecutive. I did three months a year ago (I got denied but my BMI was lower), and I have one more appointment this time to get to six months. It just has to be within 2 years. -
Happy Birthday and lookin good!

I've told my husband (obviously) and my sister. I will tell my Grandma when I get approved. That's all I'm planning to tell.
-
Welcome all! I'm still pretty new too. Hope you both get your approval soon!

CPAP Compliance- possibly switch Surgeons
apiane replied to Midnightsun's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not the pillows, but a mask that only covers my nose. I find it very comfortable! Just try different things like everyone has said. -
I switched to decaf. Try freezing some decaf coffee and using those in smoothies.

My first meeting was with the surgeon, who described the different procedures and we talked them through and picked the sleeve. She let me know all the benefits and pitfalls of each one and talked about how much weight I could expect to lose. It was very thorough.

Help! Weight gain probs. Snack suggestions.
apiane replied to goldenbarbie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know low-fat string cheese or nuts is a good option. If you want something sweet try a quest cookie? They're not the best but definitely much better than a snickers bar. You still look amazing and you can get this under control. Do the reset and exercise and those pounds will melt off. Good luck! -
Weirdest things you are looking forward to after surgery
apiane replied to Krestel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've given up shaving... It's so freakin hard! So I feel you. -
I'm sorry that's annoying. But now you have your base number and can go from there on the new amazing scale!
