Yes, my Endocrinologist just lowered my dose this week. I was on 200mcg and now 175 mcg. Dr said I was overactive now due to the weight loss. Also, said the levels change with weight loss. I will be on it the rest of my life because I no longer have a thyroid. I go back in 8 weeks for blood work and to see how much more weight I lost. It most likely will be decreased again after my blood work.

HA! How funny that is! Twins?? I can't even imagine! My youngest two were 22 months apart and that's as close to twins as I could ever handle lol We'll definitely have to meet up! As supportive as everyone has been, I have found that only someone who has had surgery truly understands everything. 2 pounds a week is great! I have hypothyroid so I completely understand about feeling like your weight loss is slower because of it but you are doing really great! Your body has a lot of adjusting to do with calorie intake, med adjustments, physical activity adjustments. It sounds like you are doing fantastic!! That's about what I was at 2 months post op. I wasn't sure if that was good or not because you saw some people were still losing 3 or 4 pounds a week at that point but I've since learned that everyone is different and I try not to get hung up on what everyone else is doing. I remember my surgeon telling me that if you don't change what you were doing physically, don't expect things to be any different then they were pre-surgery so that has been a bit motivation to work hard to stay active. I read that joining a gym is good because lifting weights (using machines with weights) is very helpful because while your building muscle you're body will continue to burn calories even at rest which is some thing cardio can't do for you. I have a gym in my office building so I have been going there 3 days a week during my lunch time. Last week I joined a yoga class that starts next week for 6 wks at work. I got sick pretty sick about 6 weeks ago and haven't been doing any exercise and I feel it. Not on the scale, but my body feels weaker and less energetic. I was also walked several times a week which I started again this afternoon. I have a desk job and just sit at my computer all day so I'd take a 15-20 min break around 3ish and take a walk and walk my dog after walk for another 15-20 min. I also have hypothyroidism, diagnosed when I was a toddler. Suppose that might have been a factor in gaining weight when I was younger, but *I KNOW* what I put in my mouth...I can't really blame my poor non-functional thyroid, now, can I? Have you had to change your dose yet? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

First, congratulations on your weight loss!!!! You must be so happy that is 10 pounds a month that is awesome!!!! Way to go!!! No, I have not gotten new clothes yet since my weight always was up and down. I have different sizes in my closet. I am hoping by Dec18th which will be 4 months post op. I am almost down to 200 pounds. I have 21 pounds to go. I feel like I am loosing 2 pounds a week now. Having no thyroid and my meds getting adjusted seems I am loosing slower, but I am okay with it hopefully means I will keep it off. I am walking a lot looking to join a gym for the winter months. Funny, your family is over by were I live and my sister lives in East Meadow and she just had twins!!!! So, I have been going there a lot. I would like to meet up one day and just speak to someone that understands what we are going through.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!! I had mine this past August and I am down 40 pounds!! I also live on Long Island off Deer Park Avenue. You will read on here some do really well after surgery and some have issues. Each and every person is different. I had no issues and followed my Drs plan exactly. I also the first 2 weeks post op walked every hour while I was home and I believe that helped me feel better faster. Any questions pleas feel free to ask. I had my surgery at Stony Brook

Has anyone made the mistake of eating solid food to early?
laney replied to sandy_p's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried the Premier Protein shakes? I was in 2 oz every hour for 3 weeks after surgery. I also was allowed juice dilated 50% with Water. Puréed Soups 2oz, sugar free Popsicles, water with slice lemon, orange or cucumbers in it. That kept me going and feeling fine during my 3 weeks of liquid diet. I was not allowed any soft foods until 3 weeks after surgery. Surgeon wanted my stomach to heal, but every surgeon is different. Just keep sipping through out the day and you should feel full. Good Luck Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Hi, My name is Laney and I am a month post op today and I had my surgery done at Stony Brook. Since I started my pre liquid diet a month ago and now on soft foods I have lost 35 pounds. So, I am looking for fellow Suffolk County Long Islanders that are veterans or new to Gastric Sleeve Surgery. That would like to start up a walking group and a support group to help us all with our journey to a healthier you. We can discuss any issue we may be having and exchange recipes or ideas that have helped others. If interested let me know. I live in the Huntington area. Hi, Congratulati on your 50 pounds loss!!!! Sorry, to hear you are having complications.. I hope the nutritionists can help you. Laney from Long Island also. I had my sleeve done at Stony Brook with Dr Pryor on 8/18/16. I am down 35 pounds but I have been at a stall for 2 weeks now it is frustrating. Hope the complications get resolved for you soon.

I was sleeved on 8/18/16 and a month out I have lost 35 lbs, but I am now at a stall. scale has not moved expect 1 pound up and down. If you were on IV fluids in the hospital the gain could be from that. Just do as your Drs say and you should start seeing the weight coming off again. I do hope you are feeling better now. Nothing is wrong with you. I was up also and now I am coming back down. It will come off the weight. I am one month post op and today finally the scale showed me coming down again. Keeping doing what your Dr told you and make sure you are getting in your 64 oz of Fluid each day. We are all here to help each other and give support. Give it a few days and you will see the scale moving down again. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

How many calories should I be intaking
laney replied to leonycr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeons office gave me a menu for two weeks. I am allowed 1,000 to 1,200 calories a day with Protein from 80g to 90g. I am on soft foods so a lot of fish, turkey chop meat and chicken chop meat. I eat about 2 to 3 ounces of meat at lunch and dinner. You will start feeling full. Stop eating so you do not get sick. I hope this helps you Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Hi, I am so glad you responded. I did look into groups from Long Island on this site but the conversations were from a few years ago. So, I decided to start a new one to get support and give support. It has been rough road but all worth it. I work during the day but looking to walk with someone or even join a gym it would be easier to exercise with someone else that nows what you are going through also. I live in the Huntington area if you like we can meet someplace between you and I to chat one day. Laney Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I walked every hour on the hour for the first two weeks and every few days I would go a bit further. My Dr said start out doing 10 mins then slowly increase. I am up to a mile a day now. I am slowly increase walking again. Good luck!!!

4 days post op and I'm worried
laney replied to rhaya sunshine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on 2oz of premier protein shake every hour on the hour. The other 45 mins I was on puréed soups, chicken broth, decafe tea or coffee, non fat milk, water, juice diluted with water. It was 2 oz every 15 mins during the hour and it kept me satisfied. Good luck and the weight will come off. One month out and just hit a stall Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I never had gas pains. I never even took any pain meds after surgery. I had slight discomfort on my left side were they took out my stomach but that was it. I know you should keep moving and that should help the gas pains. I walked every hour on the hour for the first two weeks home. I return to work Tuesday. Dr put me out for a month. I am sorry this does not answer you question. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask me. It will pass the pains Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hello Out There August 2016 Sleevers!
laney replied to Sc7272's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been on soft foods since Friday Septembet 9th and my NUT will only allow cooked spaghetti squash. No real cabs or pasta for 8 weeks. -
Hi there, I am also from Suffolk County and had my surgery at Stony Brook on 8/18/16. I was on a liquid diet one week before and 3 weeks after the surgery. I just stared soft foods. The liquid diet is rough but you have to remember the long term goal to get the weight off and be a healthier you. I could not actually believe how fast the month went. Before you know it all of this will be behind you and you will also be on soft foods. Are you also allowed puréed Soups that helped fill me up ? I am down 30 pounds as of yesterday and feeling good. Please feel free to ask me questions if you like.

laney replied to BIGBRAND0105's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on your weight loss!!! I will be one month post op this Sunday and I also had very little discomfort after surgery. I followed the Drs plan exactly as I was and had no issues. I now have been on soft foods for 5 days and doing ok. I do know when I eat to fast or had that one bite to much. My stomach lets me know. My start weight was 263. Surgery Day I was 249 today 229. My goal right now is to get under 200 pounds and then I will set up another goal. I just am taking it slow because I have not seen under 200 pounds in over 10 yrs. I wish you all the best in your journey congrats again on the weight loss!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
