Happy bandiversary to you guys too!!! It is amazing to me that it was only 3 months ago today that this journey started. Congrats on 56 pounds Cori!!! That is awesome!! Me: Down 25 pounds total, 20 since surgery. 42 pounds to go before the end of the year.

I did the same thing yesterday. I used to make the mistake of getting a salad at the snackbar before I went in and not having enough room for the samples....now I know better. You just have to be sure and chew, chew, chew. I have gotten "stuck" walking and eating. Be careful.... My husband and I always have "lunch" at costco when we shop.....hehehe. Isn't it great.

How come the weight isn't coming off?
lynzz replied to Jami Victoria's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is the story of my life!!! I was banded April 8th and have lost a total of 18 pounds since my surgery--23 all together. I exercise (go to the gym, run, hike, bicycle, swim) every day, eat very little, had 2 fills and have decent restriction, but cannot lose pounds!! Don't feel bad--we were banded around the same date and you have lost far more weight than I have.... you are doing great!!!! P.S. Like the others have mentioned, I also have started logging my food intake and exercise on myfitnesspal.com and I may be eating too few calories...try it and see where you come out.... -
Did anyone smoke when they had surgery
lynzz replied to Wendy B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Wendy, A woman who didn't quit smoking was scheduled for surgery the same day as me, but was denied because she couldn't pass the breathing test. She was totally devastated . They prescribed Chantrix for her, have you tried that? She eventually quit and rescheduled her surgery for 3 weeks later. It is still not too late to quit...I am a 15 year die hard smoker and managed to quit exactly 1 week before surgery. I just made a decision that this surgery is more important. It is, isn't it to you? You can do it!!! -
I get the same ache in my port area when I have overdone my exercising. My doctor prescribes an anti-inflammatory regimen (3 days) and a heating pad. Usually after a few days the pain goes away. Remember, the band is only a tool. You know (having already lost 70 pounds) that you must put forth an effort for it to work for you. Don't be hasty about getting it removed, give the band a chance!! Get your port fixed, get an unfill, get back on track with your eating and excercising routine and I am sure the weight will start coming off once again.

Isn't it wonderful??? Congratulations!!!!

Port location. Can we choose?
lynzz replied to Tate2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hehehe......I have my on my left side as well. I saw somewhere on the news that they are making bands that are without port. The band is opened and tightened electronically with some type of remote.....It is still experimental--that would be great, wouldn't it? No more needles!!! -
I feel the exact same way. I had my second fill last Wednesday and have not been able to eat very much since then. I have 2.2 cc's in a 4 cc band. Here is what I ate yesterday. Breakfast: 1/2 South Beach Meal Bar (crunchy, kind of like rice crispies) Lunch - Dannon Fit n' Light yogurt with 1 small banana Dinner - 1/3 cup Quinoa, 2 ounces of baked fish, 1/4 a stuffed portabello mushroom and.a SF, FF Creamsicle. It is very difficult for me to eat anything solid before 5pm. I simply can't without getting stuck and/or PB'ing. I could not even get soup down at lunch today, but ate a salad for dinner? Are we too tight?

Hi ladies, I was so happy to find this thread.... I too was banded on April 8th. I have not made near the progress that you guys have made--congratulations on your success. My weight loss has been slow, was stuck for 5 weeks!!! but just recently started losing again. I have had two fills for a total of 2.2 cc's and my band is pretty tight right now. I would love to keep in contact with you, after all we April 8th Avengers must stick together. Lynn Well,

I always get stuck on bread and end up PB'ing. So bread is the enemy to me....everytime I crave it, I think of the pain when it gets stuck then the craving goes away. I really miss chugging water!!!

I was banded 04/08/08 with a 4 cc band. Got a 1.4cc fill on 05/24/08 and .8 cc's on 06/11/08. With a total of 2.2's now, I am pretty tight. I heard it was common to give .5 cc's per fill with out floroscopy, so they don't overfill you. That must be very frustrating, I probably would have found another fill doctor by now.

Hi there gals I have so much pain around my port area during my TOM. I actually don't know if its really related to my TOM or not. I was banded on April 8, so I am coming up on my third period since being banded. The first one, was right after surgery so I had alot of pain anyway. The second month I attributed it to excercising too much, but here is the pain again. This time it is a sharp pain, but could be related to me lifting a heavy suitcase last night. So I really don't know? Does anyone else experience port pain during their TOM? Or, is it totally unrelated? :frown:

No drinking while eating is a tough one, I usually wait until I feel I am going to die without a sip of Water then give in to a small ice cube. Now, I really struggle with small bites and chew, chew, chew. I am usually starving everytime I have a meal, so I take a big bite forget to chew, get stuck, experience a whole lot of pain, maybe PB, then swear to myself that I will never do that again. I do the exact same thing everytime. Hopefully, I will learn someday!!
