For the first time in 30 years I'm overweight, not obese.
SlimChickadee replied to TeeBeau's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wooohooooo! Great job! As a nurse, I always think that my weight is listed on my medical records as morbidly obese!😞 -
What do you MOST look forward to post WLS?
SlimChickadee replied to Machalo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it would be to get rid of the back, knee, plantat fasciitis pain! To be able to walk and maybe run without pain stifling the effort of trying! -
GreenTea..., I would get it! Lol
-
Elcee, you look awesome! Love the colors!
-
You look amazing! Love the dress!

To add to what I stated before, the doctors office will not fill out paperwork she said until closer to surgery date and said she would hold on to it until then.

My surgery is set for Dec. 30th, I called my insurance and they sent my Job protected leave paperwork 9/10/19. Also known as FMLA. They told me if my surgery date change then they will accommodate that change. I requested 2 weeks, not thinking I need all those days since I work remotely, but wanted to make sure I'm drinking ok. I had lap band removal July 12th and have been seeing my Dct since May to request for Roux En Y. When I went back for post OP visit he asked me if I was ready and I requested before end of year due to my out of pocket expenses have all been paid. He was and is so great he has me scheduled for Dec 30th hoping nothing changes other than a sooner date.

Weight Loss Seminar
SlimChickadee replied to andis654's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello andis654, I attended my 1st seminar and it was awesome, she went around the room having us introducing ourselves and if we had a surgery date to state that, we had a couple of people there that already had the surgery there. One was 2wks out the other a year out! I left feeling great and knowing I'm making the right decision. She then discussed food choices as well! I think you will enjoy it! My insurance required 6 dietitian visits and 1 psych visit. I have had all visits but 1 dietitian visit and my surgery is set for Dec. 30th. -

lap band removal - how did you heal?
SlimChickadee replied to loridee24's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Had my surgery on a Friday had to stay overnight for observation required by my insurance but other than that I was fine. Like you said, had a little more pain at site were my port was located and I stated prior to this post about 2"incision but when I measured it was actually a great deal smaller not quite 1". LOLOL I did take a couple of Aleve but other than that I was fine. I work from home so I made sure I stood every 2hrs and moved around. Wishing you a speedy recovery/healing. -
I am so loving all of these new me pictures! Has everyone found themselves coming out of there shells literally. I am quite the hermit and just wondering if the new weight loss after my surgery will bring me out and wanting to be seen. How many of you were hermits prior to the surgery? #Inquiringmindwantstoknow! Thanks in advance!

Are You Ready For This
SlimChickadee replied to SlimChickadee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all so much! I went yesterday for my 3rd dietitian appt. It went great, she talked to me about the vitamins and omgoodness the cleanse you will have to do prior to surgery and the diet afterwards. When ready to leave, all of my other dietitian appts had been moved up a week. #soexcited!!!! -
Beautiful words I heard today come from my surgeons mouth, "Are you ready for this?" #LoveHIm We discussed the surgery, time off from work as well as recovery time and most importantly the success of the Roux en Y. We also discussed the success of the Roux en y after being banded along with the time I will need to be off from work (possibly 2 wks but said if I want to go back before then I could). Also I am truly grateful that I have a surgeon, nurses and dietitian that truly understand the struggle of weight loss. Just him explaining to me why people struggle with weight loss and he totally hit the nail on the head about it at least in my circumstance! So now my worries are: will the insurance company approve the date and surgery. Trying to have it before the end of 2019 d/t we have met our deductible already for this year. 😂 ps. LOLOLOL so excited!

Everything physically hurts. Emotional stuff follows
SlimChickadee replied to Chiptress's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too, I hurt all over, from shoulder, back, hips and right foot (plantar fascitis). My son said the other day, "Mom, maybe you just need to walk!" I told him that would be great but when I start to walk it flares up the heel spur and my knee. Had right knee surgery year ago. Feeling bad because Hubby is losing weight d/t walking and he always ask me to join him but I can't due to foot hurting. I use to get injections in it but it doesn't work anymore. I use to sleep in a boot and once I hyper extended my foot somehow and threw the boot in the top of the closet. #somepeoplecan'twinforlosing! -

Congratulations Ladies! Cannot wait to join you all! Thank you so much for the shares! -
jenforr108, I was told that I could sit up and watch tv while wearing mine as long as I got in 4hrs. I use the full nose and mouth gear d/t I tend to sleep with my mouth open and I also was having sores in my nose from the nose pillows. I wish you the best of luck with it but every time I go to the doctor they want to know if I am using it and how many hours a night and is it every night. I also bought my husband a SoClean and that is what I use to keep our cpap machines clean. Love it! Before, I wasn't compliant as I should be because I hated to clean it. This is a great investment for anyone with a cpap machine. Pop it in and forget it.

I had lapband removal and they told me to bring mine.

lap band removal - how did you heal?
SlimChickadee replied to loridee24's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hello, I had lapband removal July 12, d/t my insurance requirement I had to stay overnight. I was on a liquid diet the day of but my d came doctor/surgeon and said I could have food as tolerated. He told me I had to wait 3 months before I can have the RNY. So, I went home the next morning, no pain meds and was feeling great! I did walk after surgery several times around the unit and I told my doctor I was fine to go home but again my surgery required an overnight stay. My doctor told me he would send me home with something for pain and I told him no, but when I got home I started hurting on a scale of 1-10 around a 2. So, I took a couple of aleve and that did it for me. It was much better than the surgery of putting the lapband in but I had a realize band and my left side were my port was, was a lot more sore. So on my visit a week later, the doctor explained that the realize port was a bit different and he understood why I was a bit sore on the left side. I had 4 insertion sites. One were my port was which was about 2" long, one just above my navel about the same length, very small one on right side of abdomen and very small one just below my breast bone. No stitches just surgical glue. I know probably to much information but I got discouraged when I went for my check-up he said 6mths. I was speechless but know he knows what is best. I have a surgery consult set for the 14th of Aug. and really hoping he change his mind and say I can have it in October or November of this year d/t I paid my full deductible for 2019 prior to my surgery which was not fun at all. -
