Inamed ... How many fills?
Indababy replied to antivicky's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was banded April 20, 2006 and received my first fill on July 5th. I have 2.2 cc's in there and am not sure if I should get a little more or not. I definately feel restriction in the morning with Breakfast. It took me about 3 hours to eat an egg sandwich at work. Just kept nibbling and chewing, nibbling and chewing, etc. But it seems later in the day I am able to eat more. I can eat a burger but no sides. Whereas before I was able to eat the whole value meal. Is this enough restriction. I was sort of expecting to not be able to eat a whole burger. Should I get more added? Also, I have not lost any weight since the fill. I don't know why since it does feel like I am eating less. Thanks, Linda 225 / 213 / ? -

Tellymelly had asked about my weight and how i am feeling, so here's a quick update-- I started at 225 lbs. when i decided to do this. When I left for Monterrey I was 223 lbs. A week post op I am 215 lbs. It's nice cause pants feel a little looser. But like others I am very sick of this liquid phase as well. Can't wait to get to soft food. Dr. Rumbaut recommends liquids for the first 2-3 weeks and then soft food for weeks 4-6. And I am only one week in...UGH!!! But I'll do what I gotta do. I did chew a little of a cheeseburger and spit it out (very embarrassed to admit that). I was afraid of accidentally swallowing. Well, enough about me. Take care everybody. Hope all is well! --Linda Dr. Rumbaut 4/20/06 223/215/?

So I got back from Monterrey today. Everything is going well. After the surgery my upper back and shoulders hurt so bad I couldn't lay on them. But I walked up and down the hospital halls (even though it was the very last thing I wanted to do) and throughout the night the pain began to subside. The next day Rumbaut tells me he found a moderate hernia and repaired that while he was in there. So I got 2 for the price of 1. =) Today (3 days post op) I am able to sleep on either side. I'm surprised that my main problem is in my chest. When I do a lot of walking or housework or wahtever I get short of breath easily and it hurts. I have a hard time taking deep breaths and coughing or sneezing is a bitch. So for my pre-op April bandit friends -- there is nothing to fear. If I can do it, anybody can. For anybody using Rumbaut, make sure you are proactive with the appts. and car rides. For example, I didn't know after pre -op tests that I had a meeting with rumbaut that night until his office called at 5:30 and said I was supposed to be there at 5. When i was leaving the hotel they handed me a fax that said that. So ask for fax when you get in. Also, on my way to the airport the hotel called my room and said the taxi to the airport was there. So I went down and took it. When we got to the airport the driver wanted me to pay for the ride (when it is supposed to be included by docs office). Turns out he is not part of the Rumbaut service. I still don't know why the hotel called my room telling me "my taxi" was there. I never ordered one and that wasn't the right one. So make sure you use the "suburban" company. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask. Good Luck to the pre-op April bandits! And to the post-op April bandits ...you are in my thoughts with every protein drink. By the way, would it be really bad to lick a cadbury egg I have left in my fridge from easter??? Should've pitched it before I left I guess.

Heather, Thanks for your reply. The thing is nobody even knew I was going or that I cancelled. So it's kind of funny to just think to myself ..."wow today i would've been having surgery" or the next day "today it would've been over and i would be recovering." etc. etc. Maybe I should've just went. I don't know. But I made the best decision I could at the time. What else can anyone do? Btw, I love your blogs. Very interesting. And good luck to you and your april banding! Keep us posted. --Linda

so, wednesday after work i do some last minute shopping before i go home to finish packing for 6 am flight thurs morning. lil' bit later that night mom calls to tell me her boyfriend was taken to the e.r. because he either had a heart attack or a stroke. go and meet mom at hospital and stay with her in e.r. waiting til' 12 at night. when we leave still no word on his prognosis. mom was very upset. so i get home at 12:30. i am supposed to leave in 4 hours for my flight. major dilemma - leave for the surgery i have been planning for and waiting for? or cancel and stay to comfort mom. so i decided to cancel my flight and operation. =( i just couldn't have lived with myself if i wasn't there for my mom and something really bad had happened. so i have to reschedule. dr. rumbaut's people were very kind about it and they are trying to get me in april 20th or april 27th. so i hope to still be an april bandit. the airline credited my ticket for a new ticket. but now i have to fight with the airline to credit a $100 cancellation fee they are charging me (got the doc's note and my admit wristband as proof of emergency) also, my prayers were answered and my mom's boyfriend is doing much better. he had a stroke but he is making remarkable progress everyday. thanks for listening, linda

Thanks for your post Kelly. It came at just the right time. I am being banded on Friday and going through all of the last minute "Am I doing the right thing?" anxieties. I feel better and more sure now. And your pics are an inspiration - wtg!!! Linda Dr. Rumbaut April 7, 2006

Here is a number I was given -- 210-200-8916 They said it's a Texas number but it rings in Monterrey. US facilitator is Cathy Pickren. Her number is 1-888-456-1211. Hope that helps. Linda -

I too am very seriously considering the lap band. And like you, I have a real bad habit of over-thinking things. I can't stop reading information about this. But I think that I've come to my final conclusion and that is how unhappy I would be if I never gave it a try. I know there are risks and possible complications, but it also seems that the good outweighs the bad for most. So I think I am ready to move on this. Someone on here posted a quote about regretting more of what we haven't done in life than what we have. So, for me, it is worth it to give it a go. Hope you are able to get over your "analysis paralysis" soon and reach a decision. Good luck.
