Hello Chaps, Im also in London - although did mine in France as it was the best option economically and the care was excellent! Just a bit lonely a journey afterwards as I dont know anyone with the band. Upside I am getting a bit thinner finally but its so SLOW. I dont know how to accelerate things a little even! Hope you are all well! -
Ah okies - might be worth finding out about for the odd emergency. I am going to see mine tomorrow actually but I have been experiencing a lot of chest pain - it hurts to breathe and getting pain shooting up my shoulder, have you ever experienced this? My doctor said it was due to eating too solid foods but ive been getting it when remaining on liquids!

Crikey, who is your doctor Debs?

Good lord! Just read this! I pay €50 = £30 ish for a fill these days in France and it costs me about 30£ for a ferry - usually just a nice day out. The checkups only cost me €35, or £20! The UK really is a rip off!!!!!!!

Hi Nana, thansk yes you are absolutely right, but I am very serious about losing weight. Im not losing fast enough.... but we never are... still 20lb in 2 months is okay?? In any case I am honestly not loading up on it... I had a slice of wheat bread with some mashed banana literally as all today so far, as i lost most of it... and the previous time... ok i was being bad... i ate some chicken... it was too tough and even well chewed was a stupid idea so I know better for next time! You are very right though, it is definitely a warning and I need to be very very careful in future. My doctor wanted me to be tight enough that all i could eat were liquids and yoghurt for a while longer and I did that for 2 weeks and gradually introduced some softer foods, the bread was a very recent thing I clearly should not be doing. I probably wont be able to get hold of my doc though for a couple more weeks til i see him again but will talk to him as he requires monthly checkups. Thanks so much for the replies... I was getting quite stressed here Anaed and Nana! Hope you are both having a good day - Nana your weight loss is amazing! we are more or less the same... im 217 and going to start exercising with a vengance now also! Sx

Hi Everyone, I've had little issue with this up til the past two weeks or so. I have pb'ed 3 times... first time ever in 2 months, have been eating very slowly etc but [i know its a bad choice - bread sticks awfully!] In any case, is this a lot to PB, as I am a bit worried about it and moving back to mushy food for a while. I got my first fill as a 5cc in a 9cc band, which at the time seemed like a heck of a lot to me but I can still eat almost regularly albeit much much slower. Any thoughts, or words of advice, other than to not rush? Have I done damage to myself etc???? Worriedly yours, sonriose :hungry:

Little PS.... any advice would be very gratefully appreciated!

Hey All... I was banded back in June and went through the liquid/mush phase just fine. I have had a problem though as the last 3 weeks ive had no restriction [seeing doctor tomorrow though] and I have been able to eat more or less Anything! And have... is this common to feel pretty much no restriction? I have lost no weight past the initial 10lb which is not much now being 6 weeks? Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks, S

I love trampolines but I would be concerned that I might jiggle things about or displace my band? Or loosen things or damage my port by landing on my stomach... what do people think?
-
Hi Kebabish, Im in england too. Im really sorry to hear you had to go through this. When are they going to fix it? can they just reattach the port? I wish you well in fixing this asap. I hope the doctors cover costs as i know how expensive things are here! (hence me paying in france!) Sxxxx

I also was a self pay, I did mine in france, airfare from USA is quite cheap to Europe, can get flights to Paris for under 800 USD with research. The medical care in europe is considered best in france and belgium. Max surgery costs and all inclusive hospital stay was 3500GBP, so roughly 6000USD. I stayed in a private room in an excellent hospital for 5 nights. I can only highly recommend my surgeon, as he performs this surgery many times a week and has done for a number of years.

Hello All, I was a bit concerned in week two that i regained some water weight, but have started to turn that around now and back on track. This is much easier when im at work as ive a grazing mentality when at home, always tripping to the fridge. Just wanted to share that, and 2 weeks, 9lb gone! Hopefully another 4 by next tuesday! Have a lovely day!

Thank you for the encouragement. Right now I am rather hungry at work, and because I am working very long days, it means I tend to want to eat many more times… this is not so good although, in a lot of ways better than being at home. When at home I end up grazing totally in the fridge, like a lost sheep so its in some ways a bonus. The only problem now lies in the fact that I am having difficulty finding enough appealing things to drink as I am stuck with liquids at the moment, and puree when I get home. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> The remainder of the time at work that means, simply the odd juice, and yoghurt and if possible the occasional non-lumpy soup…<o:p></o:p> Rock on solid foods although will definitely need a fill due to feeling like I can eat a small hog. <o:p></o:p> Yikes, but I appreciate greatly the support!<o:p></o:p> Was dreaming about chocolate cake last night… also, cant get the same type of cheese sticks here in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">England</st1:place></st1:country-region>, but I adore real buffalo mozzarella, luscious!<o:p></o:p> Right, back to work for now!

Thanks Seppi, Sometimes its a little hard to maintain the focus and belief that it will happen though, as I have failed before so many times with diets... You've done amazingly in a year... I would be overly delighted with your result!!! Congratulations! I have my fingers and toes crossed now! Sx

I had surgery on June 20th and was a bit bad. My surgeon is cautious and I had a 5 day stay but I was grateful as I was rather suffering. In any case I left hospital and stuck to liquids for a few more days. I was advised to stick to liquid and yoghurt for 3 weeks. Couldn't do it so made some thinner pureed Soups and broths, and 2 weeks in have been pureeing very small meals up that my family are eating and adding Fluid to it to make it runnier. Hope this is not causing any damage. I also ate a few very very tiny bites of other things really really well chewed but now I'm being more prudent and liquidising everything. What concerns me is that my doctor hasn't really provided me with a diet plan, and when I questioned him a few times he just said: Tea/coffee and juice and yoghurt for Breakfast Fluids rest of time. Nothing else really and I cant function on this at work. Not sure where to get a diet plan from now! Or what to do! Help! :help:

hello all, i was banded June 20th so would love to join the list! sx

Hi All, I was banded on the 20th June (6 days ago) and am currently suffering from the following: - constant waves of nausea - inability to drink more than even a sip of Water - serious nausea from trying a few spoons of clear soup/jelly/tea My family are getting a little more worried as I am getting zero calories at the moment, and I know things have to settle for all to heal right, but is this how things should be? Also, how long until the nausea stops - it does stop right? As I cannot cope with it, and the lack of any real energy is making me dopey and tired a lot - i need functionality to return to work asap! Does one soon feel normal - apart from eating capacity after a couple of weeks, like you can relax prior to banding or am I going to permanently feel lousy? Thanks, Sonriose

Hello all! I booked surgery a few months ago and chickened out late in the day, partially due to family pressures and partially fear of the operation itself which rationally I know is not something to be feared. I have rebooked for 6 weeks time and this time I think I will see it through as I am now ever more desperate for a changed me, one which starts to enjoy life again and remember what I am living for! I'm currently 235lbs which is not my heaviest... that was 242lbs! I have like many people who come to this sort of decision tried every diet known to man...and it always comes down to stickability. I have opted for the gastric band and will all going well be getting it done in Calais, France. I am hoping to give and gain much support over the coming year! Best wishes to all. Sonriose

Thank.you.Sammee.and.Kat.for.the.words.of.encouragement. [i.have.space.bar.issues.on.this.laptop] I.think.I.will.have.to.tough.this.one.out.myself.but.I.am.also. a.little.afraid.of.the.changes.that.only.I.can.and.must.make. Its.sometimes.easier.to.just.be.a.little.passive.and.let.things.lie.which is.how.partially.I.got.to.this.point.in.the.first.place!~ You.were,very.recently.banded.Kat-.how.have.you.found.it...how.quickly. could.you.go.back.to.work? The.french.clinic.I.am.considering.suggest.5.nights.stay.which.is.longer. than.most.places! Take.care.for.now Sonriose

Hello All! I am seriouslly contemplating having the surgery in Belgium, and wondered if anyone else had any experience of going there for it? Also is there any known issues with UK doctors performing the fills and post-op care once one returns home. Does anyone know anything about the "french band" lowate AB produce also? I'm currently 223lbs and would love this to be the tool to help me lose the weight I so badly need to. Hope you are all having a good sunday. Sonriose

What is a PB? Is it a reference to vomiting?
