  1. I think it's more than a "straw" in my case. My husband has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. As it (quickly) progresses, I find myself under more and more stress. I am eating as much or more than ever, and worried, finally, at age 54, and at 275 lbs., that I will have a heart attack. I am not banded yet, but am looking into the possibility. I go to an information session this week and meet with a doctor later this month. Good topic, southerngirl. Nancy
  2. . having my feet not touch the floor when I sit on a chair because my a** is so big it raises me up; same thing in the car--I sit up higher than my 6'3" husband because of my big butt -- and I'm 5'4" . not having a neck  . I have trouble playing my flute because my boobs are so big. . I won't miss hating myself when I go to bed at night because of what I've eaten that day . I hate having men ignore me because I'm fat I'm not banded yet but these are good reasons to have hope. I'm still worried my drive to eat will overcome the help the band could give me... flutestar
  3. What do you mean by "restriction?" I understand fills, but not restriction (I'm not banded yet, still reading about it)

  4. Hi CC,

I too am just starting the journey toward getting a lap band. I don't have a consult scheduled yet but should before long.

  5. Thanks for your kind words, Molly. The thought of the surgery makes me nervous but I am so, so tired of carrying all this weight around. Mentally as well as physically tired. Thanks for taking the time to encourage me.

  6. Thanks so much for taking the time to post an answer to my introduction. I've been reading a lot lately and am starting to realize the lap band can HELP me but is not an automatic fix. I have lots of problems in my head with overeating which will need to be addressed.

Thanks, nip50, for posting your exciting news. I'm just starting the journey toward getting a lap band. I live near Asheville, NC and need to lose more than 100 lbs. Good for you, and congratulations!
  8. Hi, I'm new to the forum, hope I'm posting in the right place. I'm seriously considering getting the lap band, but I wonder if it will work for me. I'm 53 and have been overweight all my life. I eat even when I'm not hungry or even already full. Will the lap band help me? Can it stop me from overeating? At present, I weigh 275, I'm 5'4" tall and am 54 years old. My husband has Parkinson's disease and I'm under a lot of stress, which adds to my overeating, which makes me more stressed. I'm worried I'll have a heart attack, although I'm in good health, no diabetes, and I exercise occasionally--dancing and bike riding, mostly. I want to stop eating so much and lose weight. I want to be healthy and more active. Does the lap band help you in these ways? flutestar
