come out Come out Wherever you are.

Hi all, Count me in I was married for over 20 years and had 3 great children. But always felt that somthing was missing in my life. Then 12 years ago this September I met the love of my life and finally came home. We have both lived and went to school in the area. However, we met each other through her partner at work. We both work in government. I have to say my life is wonderful and she is my rock. We are empty nesters now and very happy although the youngest is home from college right now for the Summer. I had the Lap Band because I was so tired of not being able to do all the things that I enjoy, like traveling and was so tired all the time. I really enjoy this forum.
  4. I would say we are probably destined to be friends. I was the last lap band for Dr. Blumofe that day I went in about 4:00 p.m. She was kind enough to work me in because of some timing issues. Do you live in Beloit? any relationship to Badgermom? We really need to get in touch with each other. I am going to attempt to go to work tomorrow, wish me luck, I let you know how it goes. How about you. Tell me about yourself.

  5. I agree with you Harvest. I too had Dr. Blumofe and was banded on June 23. I agree she and her team are very committed and dedicated to this procedure. I will see her again on Wednesday for my one week appointment and I look forward to her support groups at Northpointe. Maybe I will see you there.
  6. I was banded 6/23 same here with the diarrhea. I too suspect that once I get some solids in me it will stop. Actually it feels good to have it as I can let out some of this dreadful Gas. I only wish I could figure how to get my left shoulder gas pain out. I made homemade Cream of Potato soup today just for something that normal food. I served some to my partner who has been on my pre-op and post-op diet with me so far (bless her soul) she has lost over 20 pounds. However, she knows it will get harder for her once I get some restriction. We can't wait for the next phase. I dream of tuna fish and cottage cheese. I plan on going to work on Monday, perhaps just for half the day. I can't believe how much energy I'm gaining every day and I have hardly any pain in my arthritic knee. I can acutally bend. I'm looking forward to going to the support group the hospital has to offer and am going to start doing some walking after I have my doctors appointment on Wednesday. I am so gald this forum is available. We are family
  7. Hi Everyone, I was banded June 23 and am now 4 days post-op. I have been doing pretty good but notice that my stomach is gurgling a lot and I feel like a have to burp but can't. I can't inhale because it hurts my stomach and shoulder so bad. I suspect that is gas. I have been taking the gas x and drinking herbal tea. Also I have had some diarrhea Is all this normal.? I have been following my diet and just drinking my Protein drinks, broth, Jello, and the sugar free popsicles and Water. However, I did want something different today and made myself some cream of potato Soup and blended my portion in my magic bullet it was delicious. I was getting worried that I hadn't lost any weight since Monday but today i got on the scale and it was down a few pounds. I am now down 16 pounds from beginning my pre-op. I found the surgery to be a lot worst than I expected perhaps because i'm older and was thinking Wednesday there was no way I could go to work this Monday. But I think I can however, I may just work half days. I am really happy I have done this and wanted to let you guys know that I have gained much information from all of you before I made this journey and I know you will be there for me as I continue. Me and my lap -band Talulah (yes I named my band) Thank you

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thank you guys for all of your kind words. I guess I was having a bad day the other day. When I went to see the anesthesiologist the other day he looked at me and said you don't need Lap Band just go on a diet. I'm 4'11", 230 pounds BMI over 47. I have been on diets my whole adult life since I was 30. I thought how dare you you, you don't know me, or anything about me. I really hope he will not be the one that is their for my surgery. Nerves must be getting to me. I have to go to the hospital Monday at 2:00 p.m and the Doctor said no liquids after 12:00 midnight on Sunday. That is going to be hard. 14 hours:confused2: Ok I have whined enough. At least I don't have to be at work for a week. Otherwise. We went to a Birthday Party at a bar for three of our friends. They had a big spread with barbecue, Beans and pasta salad galore and cake. I had a protein shake before we left and didn't touch a thing. Actually is was pretty easy. I must be getting use to this liquid stuff. But I do dream of cottage cheese and tuna once in a while. Again thanks for being here and all of your words of wisdom.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi, It was great to see a 50's group. I am having my lap band surgery on Monday. I'm really starting to get nervous. I been doing great on the pre-op diet and have lost about 8 pounds total so far. I have been reading the forum for over a month all the good and bad. I wanted to have the Lap band because I was beginning to have health issues. My knees were killing me, I couldn't even work in the yard without taking breaks. Most of the time I felt so tired after work I was getting in my nightgown and laying on the couch at night. My doctor said I was getting close to being a pre-diabetic and cholesteral was going up. I knew I had to do something drastic, and I know I don't have control over food, I start out good but then it goes to the wayside. Two days to go and I feel like there has been in death in the family and I'm saying goodbye to my best friend. Will there be life after Lap Band?

    June line up

Hi all, Include me in your prestigous group. I have been on my pre-op diet since Saturday, June 14th and have lost 6 pounds so far. My surgery is on Monday, April 23. I'm doing pretty good I really am a salt person so I'm having some issues with all the sweet stuff. My partner isn't getting the surgery but is also on the liquid diet for moral support. On top of it my 84 year old mother is living with us for a short time while she is recuperating from Hip sugery and my college age son is home for the summer. I'm getting a little scared.
