I appreciate your motivation. I’m shooting for a goal weight I haven’t seen since high school. I’m assuming that “optimum weight loss” means the fastest rate of weight loss possible. I prefer to take the longer, slower route. I feel that the less I deprive myself (within reason), the more chance I’ll have of successfully maintaining a healthy weight once I meet my goal. Out of curiosity, and knowing that you are further along in this adventure than me, what does a daily meal plan look like for you?

Yup - still drinking coffee but, only one or two cups a day. I think the docs want you to limit caffeine because it’s a diuretic (it makes you pee) and they don’t want you to get dehydrated. -
Puréed oatmeal IS used as an example in my post-op diet plan for stage 3 (puréed foods). I use the 100% whole grain rolled oats that you buy in the cylindrical paper carton, not the pre-packaged, flavored packets. I’m no dietician but, I think if you use the whole grain version, it’s a “complex carb” rather than a “simple” one like white bread or pasta. Please chime in if you know anything better.

I’ve had hereditary knee problems since I was a teen. The extra weight only made it worse. After dropping around 60 pounds, the pain has subsided quite a bit but, I’m pretty sure I’ll have to have them worked on sometime in the near future. I’m pretty sure that carrying so much extra weight for so long has done some permanent damage. Oh well, one problem at a time...

For a clear protein drink, I’m using the “Protein 2O” brand available at Walmart. I think it tastes a little better than the clear drink offered by Premium Protein.

Good luck! See you on the other side!

Just had my VSG last Monday 5/6. I lost 60+ lbs on my own before my final pre-op consultation so my dr. let me slide a week on the two week pre-op diet. The operation went smoothly, no issues other than some soreness and nausea that went away in a few days. Got through the first week of the post-op clear liquid diet and am now on full liquids. Dropped only a couple of pounds in the last week, hoping to see more progress soon. Good luck everyone!
